They say if you build it they will come, well Eugene (my hometown) has built a welcome mat for homeless. It is really sad what the government in this city has done.
Not all panhandlers use alcohol or drugs. I have to do it right now and i don't drink or use drugs at all. I buy clothes and shoes and other things i need. I am disabled and can't stand up long because of a back problem. I have to have surgery before long long and I will be able to go back to work after that. Please get to know a person before passing judgement on them
I was at a Wal-Mart where a woman was a greeter. She had no arms and no legs. If she can get a job so can you. I have two slipped discs in my back, have kidney problems, and have two knee injuries and I have 3 jobs. Seems like you do'n't want to work!
I lived in my car fir 8 months, in Arizona. This was due to physical and mental disabilities. I never begged for money, got a job, and now live in a beautiful apt. I also had zero help from family and friends. I'm also not an addict
Amazing how some of these people could afford having a dog! It takes money to keep a animal fed! And these ones panhandling makes it bad for the ones that actually are homeless!!
People are more likely to give and give more when the panhandler has a dog. The panhandlers know this. Sometimes the panhandlers will share a dog and use it in shifts.
Social Security Disability takes years to receive. I know. I was a Licensed Nurse in Oregon for decades. Now, disabled, I could be one of these people, if not for relatives.
so these people admitted spending the money they get on cigarettes and alcohol ...this is why i don't give these people anything, your're not gonna use my hard earned money on your cigarette and beer addiction.
Yep! My sister gave a guy a few bucks, she had a feeling he was going to the beer isle at the grocery store and sure enough there he was. She yelled at him and he left the store.
My husband was a police officer for over 38 years and dealt with these people on a regular basis. 90 plus percent panhandled, many times with children to make it look better, then would get into their nice car and drive home, or he would have to deal with them later that evening passed out drunk, or overdosed in a McDonalds bathroom.
This is capitalism. This is how people make money in this country. How can you fault someone for panhandling? People are messed up - why would you focus on the most downtrodden people of this society trying to make a buck? We have billionaires fleecing us all at rates that should make your heads spin - but yeah - let's get angry at people like this. Shame.
People who do panhandling you can't just tell them "work". They have criminal records, mental problems prevent them from getting along with workers, no job skills ,etc. etc if you were a supervisor iand you were to interview them and see they are all messed up, you wouldn't hire them !!!.

Jean Jones its a fucked up situation. It’s super hard to get a job when you’re homeless. Almost no one will legally hire you. It’s definitely not impossible though. I think if they put as much time into finding work as they do panhandling, they would find SOMETHING, most likely illegal. But still something.
Distract drivers really? Lol out of all things out there that can distract drivers u pick a person just standing on a corner...id say to u just dont look! its ur fault u get distracted so easily by someone holding a sign
Boy this makes me so mad there's people out there wish that they could get out there to work and here theses people are can move around and look healthier than we do ,what are we doing we are supporting there uglynessand because they Don,t care yes we give them money because we have a heart but you know it's getting old if you can get out there and do that then your fine and if you try real heard may be you can fine a job we had to people work hard very hard and me if you can walk have all your parts no money from me because I work harder for my money , it will come back to you. With you all the way if they are well enough to stand around and pan handle all day they can work .And certainly have no businesses being on welfare what a joke hope with all my being they don't qualify.
Folk's please stop giving your hard earned money to people who want to live off you. Give to your charity of choice. Stop this they will have to earn money earning it themselves.
