Panic erupt at Global Citizen Festival 2018 - Central Park

I’m not planning to keep this video up for long but wanted to show the situation tonight. Reports of shots fired at Global Citizen Festival 2018 after a barricade fell created panic and a stampede causing thousands to swarm to the exits. This video footage is compiled from my iPhone as I needed a flashlight and the only way to quickly get it on was to hit record.
The media downplayed the situation as nothing much was happening. They don’t show the thousands of people who ran towards the exit forcing their ways through the fences and barricades, toppling over each other. The festival did continue after but 75% of everyone were gone. Only the first two sections remain. You will see this in my video at the end.

I still don't believe it was metal falling because it sounded like actual gunshots, and people wouldn't act like that if metal fell. The police was telling us to run too...

Per GC, they state the popping sounds were bottles. People dropped to the floor as they heard the pops. Others who saw that then though they were getting shot. I was all the way at the back, when I looked up - I literally saw thousands running at us. We all got up and ran (with no shoes) to avoid being trampled. The cops and event staff were so confused. Many stating shots - not until I got to the end I heard it was a barricade.

Dillon Chan I really believe they’re trying to cover up the actual story because one of my friends saw someone get arrested. Also, I read on Twitter that someone got shot. GC didn’t handle that situation as well as they should’ve.

Jahed Prince interesting - will look around to see what I find. They definitely were prepared which they should have especially with a crowd of 60k ppl. Better lit paths, clear way to evacuate.

Matthew Pfleging so something happened and everyone thought it was gunshots but in reality it was just a giant metal fence that fell in and sounded like a gun shot then every one freaked out and fled the concert

I’m sure it was still terrifying but at least you guys got to get out, I was by the sage and we all fell like dominos and we’re stuck unable to get up, people tugging on others, pulling, scratching we were scared, separated from loved ones, and stuck on the ground thinking we’re about to die because a shooter might walk up to us and open fire. It was the worst. People screaming, crying, having panic attacks. I was there with my nieces and nephew who are teens and I was so scared for them and watching the terror in their eyes was the worst

It’s probably one of the scariest situation I’ve been in. People can joke an say it was just a fence falling but unless you were there and experience it - the feeling is exactly what you describe above. I was there with friends and remember looking back to see a mass crowd running towards us. Glad to hear everyone was ok and only limited injuries.

According to the reports, the running and popping of bottles sounded like gunshots. Unfortunately we’ll never know.

Dillon Chan yeah I know I heard the reports but I think it’s bullshit because we’re at a concert if it was a barrier falling or a bottle people wouldn’t have panicked like and it was multiple popping sounds. It wasn’t just one. And when we got out we saw someone being arrested. I just hate that NYPD tried to cover it up so hard. I guess we will never know.

Dillon Chan almost everyone that went there said that it was gunshots like people are angry because it was a bottle of it was a bottle how come people heard the pop from the back that just doesn’t make sense.
