Buenos Aires.
WOW! Powerful voice Beautifully sung Excellent feel for the song Very moving Wonderful orchestra accompaniment Also known as “Bread of the Angels “ Excellent performance ⭐️
Every available volume control I have on this computer is turned up to the maximum and I can still hardly hear him. How sad. Thanks anyway for posting.

Superb Juan Diego and with an angelical choir. Gentlemen, this song is religious, Is not opera, not need to shout notr scream. Sound problem, get more power.
Panis Angelicus Fit panis hominum; Dat panis caelicus Figuris terminum; O res mirabilis! Manducat Dominum Pauper, servus et humilis. The Angel's bread Becomes the bread of men; The heavenly bread Ends all symbols; Oh, wondrous thing! It is the poor humble servant That partakes of the Lord.
does he make a mistake just before the end on the first of the last two 'servus'? - he is singing in B flat which is unusually high (its normally in A for tenor), and, instead of going to the E flat he sings two D's on the 'us' of 'servus' - never heard that before, maybe a special version : ) anyway a lovely voice , very expressive and beautiful legato. Yes he should know it by heart as I'm sure Domingo does but often the music is held or just there as a prop : )
@improvvisamente1 I think music is more to be heard and enjoyed than watched ??? and criticized if he holds a notebook or not.....relax, enjoy and do not make much fuss about it......love from Peru....country prodigious in tenors since back in the 1930s with Alejandro Granda and others like Luis Alva, Enesto Palacio....and more to come.
x-mas in Vienna, not to be mixed au with the new-years concert in Vienna. which is more dedicated to "typical" Viennese music, Strauss, Lehar, Lanner etc.
Here is Placido Domingo with the Vienna Boys' Choir in 1977 singing the Panis Angelicus. It is quite common for the repeat of the second verse to be sung by a choir, and a boys' choir. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VYPsSsjxQOU.html
My only criticism of this otherwise beautiful performance was that he could have been a little closer to the microphone. The orchestra tended to drown him out in places. Otherwise, it was wonderful.
Singing very nice but...OK, myself I also prefer to have the score with me too but on this level why don't learn it by heart?? I mean they learn opera by heart which seems much more difficult?
+ciroalb3 When you sing spiritual pieces it's usual to have the score there. It has nothing to do with really needing it. Everybody knows their part, they practice it a million times. It's just common and as a soloist you do it too, especially when the choir has it. It just looks better this way then.
