Fascinating that these are the very same arguments being replayed in the Labour Party again now; maybe a little more quietly after the drubbing in 2019's general election but the rift has never been healed between these two divergent views of what Labour politics is and should be. I don't know that they can be reconciled, either.
As we're seeing with the Conservatives too, the Labour Party is essentially two parties stuck together. It's only the electoral system that keeps them together - if we had PR, they would have split long ago.

Old labour had its miner cap on in the day and whatever its soul, did not address the growing reality of economic & social inequalties existent in many parts of the UK - JC tried to bring to the fore of his politicts in 21st century, by then people were feeling more lethargic and dissillusioned by left govenerments by the day.
