@@Eric-tp4deFair point but going to a metal show, especially of that magnitude, & just standing there seems to miss the point entirely imo but each to their own I guess. Although I imagine Phil probably gave them shit for it as he famously hates inanimate crowds.
Im sure there was an older crowd too. Im 52 now and Cowboys from Hell came out when I was 20. My pit days are way behind me. Knees amd back start going out, lol. I like watching the performances now, especially when tix are f'n expensive af.
Having been a Pantera fan from way back, this is what music needs. I am in disbelief that the crowd hasn't formed a loop with a pit in the center. Probably saving their strength for the Backstreet Boys show.
I can't imagine the pressure on Zach and Charlie to even attempt to do this... thank all of you for bringing this to us! Hats off fellas, you fuckin" crushed it...
@@superdooperparatrooper6947 they are very close, he is playing pretty much note for note, but look it is Zakk so he can take liberties with the songs since he is the better musician. Now if he were playing Rhoads songs you have to play the way he wrote it
I can’t believe everyone is praising Zakk. It’s like I live on a different planet or something where Zakk didn’t even bother to learn the solos right and doesn’t have a basic timing down. What’s wrong with everyone’s ears?
Dropped the tuning down so Phil can sound better. I’ve seen the original Pantera a few times. For those that didn’t get that opportunity…..enjoy what ya can get! I personally think this a good tribute to Pantera and the Abbott Bros. RIP. GETCHA PULL!!!!!!!
I'm not hearing the tuning but I'm only a drummer who has seen them live and I'm outta my skin freaking out how good this is. Rip in peace Abbott bros, you are deeply missed.
Those stupid phones wouldn't have lasted TWO SECONDS in an old-school Pantera crowd. I mean for one thing there would be a HELL of a lot more moshing goin on.
@@shamwow7996 I get that. I just don’t see how it’s much different then just watching the concert from home on RU-vid. Yeah, you’re a little closer and it’s a lot louder, but you’re still watching from behind a screen.
Lamentable!
Don't tar us Millennials with the same brush. When I was at an Anselmo show 3 years ago where they mostly played Pantera songs I haven't touched my phone for a second. Neither did a lot of other people of my age. I think it's more of a technology thing rather than generational because "older" people are filming too. And if it's a "big name" band it tends to draw a lot of casual fans who care more about filming and sharing on social media rather than the experience. But it's sad nonetheless. Imagine witnessing an all time great band (or at least half of it) in person but through a fucking screen.
@@Jaymerism Probably not. I'm 45. I feel I can say with some certainty that a good portion of us will snap a photo here and there or record some video. For the bulk of the show, we are watching it. Taking it all in and from time to time, helping up off the floor some recently and mildly shellshocked little shit that thought the Pit was a "Safe Space' and made some pretty poor assumptions about the heartiness and fortitude of some folks 2 generations their senior which whom spent almost half of their natural life perfecting, staying alive in, and schooling the needy on the good, friendly, violent fun of doing "The Toxic Waltz" with 60 of your most riled-up, rabbid, batshit crazy friends all the while espousing the joys of tooth and blood loss. absolutelysocietal
@@IsoSubject5 . You nailed it. 👏. I'm gen x but you nailed it. Plus, not everyone in a generation is the same. I went to a local metal show and there were very few if any young peeps using their phones. They were all just jammin 🤘
@@mikabass this dude destroyed his voice and body from drugs and can still somehow sound close to his earlier vocals. Plus he has developed quite much compared to before. I don't see how exactly you see that he is not doing good
@@masterp2269 Agree. I was a Sophmore in 92 when my best friend and I each told our parents we were staying at the others house and we went to see pantera ( and love that the actual show is here on youtube lol ) I hated him for a long time during the end of his drug days but have MAD RESPECT for how he has turned it around and how honest he is with people.
Axl made the masterpiece Chinese Democracy which Phil could never touch. Also only casual fans were excited about Slash and Duff’s return. GnR’s reunion has been a borefest.
@@LRM5195 the masterpiece chinese democracy?? are you joking🤣also gnr's reunion has continued for 6 years with sold out tour dates and massive success, not exactly a borefest
@@LRM5195 masterclass in what? Dog shit maybe. I saw GnR back in the haydays and after Axel broke the band up he couldn't write a song to save his life.
@@Angellisgod No. Same concert, but different song. “This Love” was when I noticed he wasn’t playing anything even close to the original. And even the main riff for “Planet Caravan” sounded nothing like Pantera’s cover or even the Black Sabbath original. He actually did really well in this video, for the record.
Hope they come out with a live DVD, an possibly do something together after the tribute thing ends these guys sound amazing together maybe as a super group or something
Gran Tributo y gran Resurreccion.
This whole thing happening is pretty amazing. I wish Zakk would used some Dean guitars on that tour, though. Not only that would be an awesome tribute to Dime but also they were part of Pantera's stage presence back then.
@@suddy818 I think he was a Gibson guy but has his own guitar line now that I believe he’s using. I do agree, it woulda been awesome to see Zakk rocking a dime dean
Thanks@@Roadwarrior721I never knew that. Looks like a collaboration with Schecter. Surprised he didn’t partner with Gibson but maybe they don’t do that sort of thing. I’ll have to check out his stuff at the upcoming NAMM show.
As I am a 90s kid, I am 50% the guy who bangs his head and 50% the guy with the phone filming the show. Why? It's not because I can't live the moment. It's because technology gave me the opportunity to share this moment with people I love, who can't be at the show with me. Think about it, no need to be judgmental. Cheers!
Had the opportunity to see them with the original setup, back in -95 at the Hultsfred Festival here in Sweden. Also saw Slayer at the same festival. Those were some INTENSE concerts! Best of the year 1995 for sure!
Respect dude the closest I ever got was Damageplan at Dload 2004 here in the UK they finished the setlist with Walk and fucking hell fourteen years old and the biggest most violent moshpocalypse of the entire weekend lol Metallica on that same weekend as well for my secondtime seeing Metallica truly a dream come true hoping the reuinion tour comes to goodl ole England at Wembley where 100k plus capacity will have the biggest moshpocalpse on UK soil lol
@@SJ_1990 Yeah the moshpit was insane in Sweden aswell. Got locked between two guys shoulder to shoulder and they were taller than me so I got lifted a few inches above ground and like a ragdoll unvoluntarily moshed for the first and last time of my life lol!
Yea I’ve been waiting to hear this and I agree. They sound great and Phil sounds way better than I thought he would. Rip it up guys I hope to see y’all soon.
Thank you for posting the video. Do me a favor people, please put the phone down and be a part of the PanterA experience....,.Salute 🤘🏻💪🏻 #strongerthanall
OMG...got tickets to Chicago 2024 with Metallica and MammothVH...I...CAN'T....WAIT. Phil sounds waaaaaay better than I thought he would, and Zakk nailed that solo. Thanks for posting this. GREAT to see what to expect. Also, Charlie frickin' kickin ass and totally got that bass drum tone down!
Mis respetos a estos 4. Volver a escuchar a pantera emociona.
I saw Pantera in 2001, and to call the floor a mosh pit would be an understatement. Total freaking chaos, like a war zone. This crowd standing still is just sad.
Can't wait until next Nov got Metallica and Pantera tickets. Way more excited about hearing Pantera live again. Last time I seen Pantera was in 96. Phil is sounding good!
Pantera 🤘
I can’t believe I’ve seen so many people say this. It’s like we’re hearing entirely different videos. It was like he didn’t even try to learn Dimebag’s parts.
@@1Deep43VA I did say sound, not style. I don't think he was far off from his style either tbh. Of course he cannot 100% replicate his style and I doubt he tried to either, but he wanted to also stamp his own signature style in their too. It's impossible for any guitarist to 100% replicate another guitarist's style.
@@Kevinacharles I’m not asking for him to replicate anything, but there are hundreds of thousands of no name musicians on RU-vid that do note for note covers of Dimebag guitar sections. From rhythm to solos. If they could do it, I can’t see how he couldn’t. Obviously, I’d expect him to add his signature squeals in there or even improvise a few notes here and there. That would essentially make it his “own” while still staying true to what the song asks for. You didn’t see Charlie just playing whatever he wanted while still have the overrall “sound” that Vinnie’s drum kits had. It would ruin the song. I don’t see how it’s any different. But, obviously I’m in the minority. I really don’t understand it.
@@Kevinacharles ***EDIT*** Sorry, I’m not even talking about this song in particular. Same concert, but when they played “This Love” is when I thought Zakk played nothing like the original. And even the main riff from “Planet Caravan” was entirely different. I listened to some of this video when they’re playing “Walk” and he did play very well here. And so if your talking about just this video alone, yes I agree he did well. But all of my posts essentially had “This Love” and some of the other songs in mind when I was really bitching about Zakk. Just wanted to clear the air on that
Yeah back in the day we went leap around fall over get pulled up again sweat party drink have a hell of a time. Now people wanna stand still so they get great film footage crowd looks lame.........sounds good but!
Ya know! Would've had your phone smacked outta your hand and be crushed by the never ending wall of people flipping the fuck out! Listening to the heaviest band ever! EVER!
Great sound, I just miss Dime dancing around the stage. Zakk is the obvious choice to fill in and I'm sure he is doing it for Dime's memory as they were buddies. I hope Phil stays sober for the world tour.
Dime probably would not dance these days. Watch phil he was a madman on stage and now he barely moves because of his age but his voice is on point and this is enough
Holding your phone for clips, you will never watch again and lose the actual experience of being there. If this is the future of metal it'd over. Looks like a corporate board meeting examining a product.
I'm going damnit. In 1996 I seen them and it was one of the best shows ever. Phil didn't hold the mic out back then for the crowd to sing that much, dude went to work and showed up. The stadium erupted when they came on stage and people jumped out of their seats down to the stage. Security was useless and gave up. They opened for white zombie. When they were done Phil dropped the mic saying follow that up. Zombie was defeated before thy took the stage.
no way they were playing stadiums opening for Rob Zombie...that would be arenas at the most No way could Rob Zombie hold up against Pantera they are too aggressive
