"Pantera punches you in the face..." They even made a photo of that moment and put it on the cover of Vulgar Display of Power.

"high pitch and crunchy" lol. Dimebag was one of the only metal guitarists using solid state amps and he used a ton of gain. the string noise you have to deal with using his tone is insane. to play such technically demanding songs cleanly with Dimebag's setup and tone is an almost impossible challenge. One of the greatest metal guitarists of all time.
@anvil958
@anvil958 3 года назад
He used equalizers. That's what gives this amount of frequency without giving much GAIN. He uses high gain during live shows.

A policeman did shoot Dimebag's killer. Sadly, after the damage was done. My friend from childhood was security and he ran at the stage. All 6'7 of him tackled the shooter and paid with his life as well. We grew up to Pantera's music being from the same town and just a few years younger. They will all be missed. Vinnie and Daryl and all those who die b4 their time.

I'm sorry for your loss, Cindy, and can relate (we've all lost someone). I lost my best friend in 2006 to liver cancer, he was only 32. I introduced him to metal, and bands like Pantera, Maiden, Metallica, and so on. This was one of his favourites. I listen to it both for my own enjoyment, and in his honor. Music is healing, metal in particular.

I can't even begin to imagine how Jerry Abbott, Vinnies and Darrells father, must feel like these days. To parent two brothers, love them and nurse them and then see them become two of the greatest musicians of our time, then live to see both of them die. If you are reading this Jerry, know that your sons did not die in vain. They've left a permanent mark on this world and millions of people became richer in life because of them.

I never listened to Pantera when they came out, nothing of theirs really grabbed me. However in 1995 my brother-in-law gave me a ticket to their concert to a be a DD for him and my sister. I remember we had horrible seats and as the night went on we slowly upgraded ourselves. When Pantera finally got on stage we were six rows back. The amphitheater had these cheap plastic theater seats and instead of clapping after songs we would beat on the empty seats in front of us. It sounded like low rolling thunder. Phillip said, "Fuck that was awesome. I've never heard that before. Do it again." So we did except this time it spread to the entire audience but no one was going harder than me and my brother in law. We broke 7 seats off the bolts in the concrete floor. Looked around and quickly upgraded ourselves again. That concert is my fondest memory of my Brother in law. He was murdered a few years after that. Still in his 20's. So thank you for this, for reminding me of him and now it feels like a tribute to him as well.

Shaun Crawford that sounds cool. I got to see them for the reinventing the steel tour in Bakersfield. Phil made the whole floor mosh. "Everyone wants to hear this next song. I wana see everyone going nuts from laft to right, front to back. And of I see anyone standing around we'll stop playing it and play something else." The place went nuts. I ran through the whole floor and everyone was moshing. It was beautiful. Your story is touching. Family. Good stuff.

I saw Dimebag in concert with Damageplan exactly one week before he was killed. As I was just coming into metal at the time, and wasn't too familiar with any of the major players yet, I had no idea who this genius was that making his guitar scream like that. All of my friends I went to the concert with were wincing with their hands over their ears. As for myself, I was standing there in sheer awe. It was a privilege that I was able to have such an opportunity.

Beautiful tribute guys, really. I remember the day Dime was shot. I was just getting into metal via a good friend of mine at school who played the guitar religiously. When it came to lunch time that day, I sat down and told him what I'd heard on the news and his face just went blank, like "...what?". Years and years later I've watched interviews and live recorded concerts and the man wasn't just a great guitarist, he was a great human being. There's one story told in a documentary about Pantera, talking about after one of their shows a kid came up to him and said he wanted to learn to play guitar, but he had to wait until Christmas so his parents could get him a guitar. Dime had the kid take him to his parents and he gave them money to get him a guitar and told them "Don't wait, get him playing right now."

Pantera’s song I’m Broken, was written by Phil in response to his back pain. Like you I have chronic back pain, and I’m Broken is my favorite song by Pantera. The shooter had taken one of Pantera’s crew hostage by putting a gun to the crewman’s head, after being shot three times. An officer arrived with a shotgun and noticed the gunman cocking the hammer and the officer shot him. The crewman was saved. VH1 did an episode of Behind the Music with video of the shooting of Dime and four others. As a fan it’s hard to watch.

It’s not a pinch harmonic. It’s a natural harmonic. He flicks the string, dumps the sting tension with the whammy bar, then taps the natural harmonic as he ups the tension on the strings.

Also as a Pantera Fan, everyone says Cemetery Gates, to me Hollow is a more appropriate song for Dime and Vinnie, cause they where taken before their time, as a fan, I shake my fist, at the sky above, mad, at God. But that's me. Hollow is sadly one of those songs that only true fans remember and wasn't so mainstream and it was the villa Rosa nightclub in Columbus Ohio, he snuck through the crowd and security. Then shot him execution style to the head in front of his brother. First song 10:45 P.M. Dec. 8th 2004 till this day every Dec 8th I drink Crown Royal in remembrance and R.I.P Mayhem security guard. And the 4 fans that lost their lives that night. F.U. to the guy that done this. I know his name, I won't say his name, he took my idol away

I still listen to Pantera almost on a daily basis. Seen them every time they played in Dallas area in the 90's. Greatest part of my life. Hollow or This Love. All pantera is a great tune. R.I.P Abbott brothers.

What a beautiful react! Emotional and satisfying with the taking of the meaning from a horrible fact to a song launched years earlier, who could imagine Dime would cross the cemetery’s gates like that, but now they’re together, reunited in the afterlife, forever and never forgotten.

I was personal friends with Dimebag and Vinnie for many years. I also founded a charity organization called "Ride For Dime" in 2005 which was an annual motorcycle ride and concert in remembrance of Dimebag. Each year the ride would pass in front of the cemetery gates where Dimebag is buried and we would toss flowers. I would hear Cemetery Gates in my head as we passed by. Unfortunately we lost Vinnie a few months ago. The brothers are once again side by side. The event ran it's course and the last ride was in 2015. I was honored to be the lead motorcycle in 11 rides. Do a RU-vid search for "Ride For Dime" to see videos from the ride as well as the concerts we held each year. Love your reaction videos.

There is an interview with Dime's killer's mother, talking about her son and his illness and what he did. I had to watch it in Psychology in college. His mother said that he would rant about how Pantera stole their songs from him. However, he liked the way he played 'his' songs; so he let them sing them. However, when Phil left and Vinnie and Dime formed Damage Plan, the guy got pissed off that they were no longer singing 'his' songs. That's when his mother said that he went to the show and did what he did. But, as I said; was what the documentary we had to watch said.

Good brothers, Amazing music, it's sad how they went, but now we gotta look at this with new eyes, things change, we can't do anything about it but learn from it.... not just from it but from them too, especially Dime, from all the things i read about the guy he had a heart of gold, had a lot of energy, a large amount of passion, played guitar like some kind of monster, drank a bit and would set off fireworks in his own house... all in all, he sounds like someone that i would be down to just chill with. Also gotta say your reaction to this song was amazing, I've shown this specific song to a few friends and they never really have anything bad to say about it.. you honestly can't find a lot of people who can play guitar like THAT, i mean i try myself, but some of those tabs are insane, the guy plays a riff and I'm usually sitting there watching it and going "how did he do that, when all i saw was him twitch a finger...?" sometimes the words musician and magician seem like they where meant to sound the same... O.o wow i wrote a lot...

Oh another thing, you guys are doing react videos right? consider some Lamb Of God, If you like mellow stuff i'd steer you in the direction of the song Overlord, be warned though, that band is heavy and dark, though the bulk of what they write is pretty good, lots of good guitar solos in there songs, sometimes they might have 2 solos, depending on the song.. sorry for the long comments, my brain-keyboard filters aren't exactly tuned to be efficient with people.. Dime was killed at a small show in a club in Columbus Ohio. Also, Phil was an ass before his back was messed up, he had a lot of issues with drugs pretty much his whole life. He may be sober now, I don't know. Just the whole story of Pantera is heartbreaking, at least we still have the music. Gotta say, I loved it when Sistah said "it's everything"... You hit the nail right on the head.

I met Dime & Vinnie in the streets of Monterrey, Mexico by coincidence on July 18, 1997. I was a HUGE fan already, but I was there to take my then GF, now wife to a Mexican Artist Juan Gabriel show that night at La Fundidora in Monterrey not knowing Pantera would play there the very next night. Before my GF picked me up at my hotel, I decided to have some lunch & walked to a nearby kinda outdoor restaurant. As I was eating, I noticed a guy with with a bandana, with a beard & with an acoustic guitar over his shoulder & in my mind, I just thought, that guy resembles Vinnie Paul, so out of the blue & not even having a clue, I yelled, "Vinnie Paul fucking rules" & he turns around & looks inside because windows where open, no AC, & says "Hellyeah!!". At that moment I realized it was really him & Dimebag & others walking to their hotel, I had NO idea they were staying across the street from my hotel. So I was shocked to see it was really them, holy frijoles, I jumped out of my seat, paid quicky & left to follow them to their hotel. Dime & Vinnie spoke to me for about 10 minutes, they were 2 fucking down to earth guys, never did he(Dime) ignored me in our conversation. I told them i'd seen them a month & half earlier & how good they kicked my ass in San Antonio, Texas at Ozzfest '97 on May 31, 1997. At the end of our conversation, Dime said to me, "well go to your show & come on back at night, we'll be at the bar fucking drinking", so I go to the Juan Gabriel show with the then GF, come back later to my hotel, change, cross the street to the hotels bar & there they all are at the bar, all Pantera guys & Anthrax too plus roadies, again, I spoke to Dime & some of the guys in Anthrax. That was a real bad ass experience I had of meeting Dime & Vinnie, an experience I will never forget. GOD bless & rest their souls. LONG LIVE DIME & VINNIE!! WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!

Nathan gale snuck in the back of the Ala Rosa villa nightclub. He shot Dime in the head and a few others in the crowd. He took Vinnie’s Drum Tech hostage at that point the authorities had been contacted and an officer shot Gale with a shotgun. There was very little security and it was a very intimate club show. An absolute tragedy. I was too young at the time to have known about Pantera or Dime. As a fan who learned of the band after that it sucks. It sucks to know, we will never hear someone with the much passion on guitar again in our lifetime. Not only was he a guitar god but he truly loved life an absolute inspiration. Rest In Peace Dime and Vince. Your music, your spirit and legacies live on forever.

I have recently found your channeling and I LOVE Sistah reactions.I am a 54 year old Dallas native who grew up listening to Pantera.I saw them go from doing Loverboy covers to world Domination.When CFH came out everybody freaked.They started touring nationally and were kicking ass.They came back and started recording Vulgar Display of power and got a call to go to Moscow with Ozzy,Motley Crue,and Metallica among others.That is when I knew they had made it.I would like to see Sister reaction to Domination Moscow 91.Darrell does a face melting solo that is one of the best I have ever seen.Keep it up Y'all are doing great.

After watching the video. I know what she's going through. The song is very emotional and it'll hit you in the feels, no matter who you are. Especially if you know the story what happened to the brothers.
