Becoming! God size! Fuckin' a! All hail Pantera the godfathers and pioneers of "power metal"! Damn wish I could of been there! Pantera's the 1 band that I never got to see live bcuz my friend didn't wanna drive that far 😔 R.I.P. Dimebag Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul you Texas hellraiser's will forever be loved and truly missed always!
Sometimes things come full circle . Pantera played a gig in Russia and were very thankful to be part of that with Metallica . They were pretty good friends before any of that in the mid 80’s. At a gig in Phx in 96’ , Phil said he wasn’t sure bout Metallica anymore because of the Load album . Guess he didn’t appreciate the southern fried rock they were putting out. The stuff he did with down was very southern rock sounding, and some of trendkill was very much like the load album . 28 years later they are touring with Metallica . We can’t always realize and make commentary without controversy, but him bad mouthing Metallica at the time made me not happy with Phil . He’s a Metallica fan , you don’t have to like everything they do , but don’t be a person that divides fans .
Having been fortunate enough to see Pantera twice in my youth , once in 96 and once in 97 and again as an old man 😅 in 24 I must say zakk sounds great but he ain't even close to dime , nowhere near the energy and his solos pale in comparison. Phil is still a bad dude and Rex is still as dope as I remembered ,the drummer is ok but I don't think he sounds quite right , Vinnies sound can't be replicated. I distinctly remember the double bass hitting so hard it made your heart skip a beat 😅 that doesn't happen with this drummer
