That’s so cool!! When I was like either 2 or 3 this song and cowboys from hell would be the only songs that would make me stay asleep! Same way to this day and I’m 19! 😁😁
Yeah man, Dime is imo one of the last truly great/original metal guit players. He had more that just fast playing. He had style. What a shame some shitlord went and shot him. As far as metal guitar players go he's definitely top 3 for me. I put him right up there with RR and Iommi. He truly had his own thing going on. Too many of these new guys are all flash and no smash. Dime had such a unique sound. And it wasn't all studio bullshit. He could do it live. I actually prefer his live performances. Hell of a player.
@@spottheturtle9568 I may not have been that big into Pantera but I support ANY musician going after their dream. And when I heard about this? All that came to mind was; just another dumbass 'fan' who can't accept change. It was like; Dimebag left Pantera. Move on with your life and enjoy his new project. No? He had to be a dumbass about it and kill Dimebag just because he departed from the band. Now, that in itself, shows that music doesn't make someone crazy. A fan couldn't deal with the fact that a member of his favorite band departed and started a new project. And that's why his name does not deserve to be mentioned. And I found this about Vinnie Paul; 'Vincent Paul Abbott died from natural causes, specifically, dilated cardiomyopathy,” a rep for the musician said in a statement. “Severe coronary artery disease was identified as a significant condition to the cause of death according to the official report submitted by the Clark County Coroner's office.' Two unfortunate losses to a very popular band. R.I.P. gentlemen. Hope you both continue rockin' out at and beyond heaven's door.
I think the headstock of that very guitar was broken and had to be reattached. Battle scars that probably increased its value. It’s like Pete Townsend once said after smashing a guitar, “it’s more valuable, now.” Lol
@@xbryan666x Yes thank you. Its so annoying people request the same song over n over again then they cant even tell the guy to skip the video. "Cemetery Gates is a very boring song to play" - Vinnie Paul (Pantera drummer)
I remember the first time I heard this song... I was in 8th grade, in my “Music Appreciation” class. After we formed groups, one group made up of mostly “metal heads” had the teacher play this song. Let me tell you, the speakers 🔊 in this classroom are huge and professional grade. When we heard this song, so did the rest of the school! 🤣
I met them in El Paso in the early 90s when they 1st played this song live. It was about 500 people and was incredible! The energy...Great time for this band. We hung out by the backstage area and the bus and talked with the band for awhile and got autographs. Its a lil depressing now to know 2 of them are dead. But I will always treasure the time we got to talk to them and joke around like the down to earth guys hey were.
More Pantera greats...5 Minutes Alone, F*cking Hostile, Drag the Waters, Hollow, Cemetary Gates, Broken, and one of the greatest covers, Planet Caravan...too many to name 😁
Definitely 5 minutes alone!!!! Broken is another classic by Pantera when you truly sit back and listen phils voice and the lyrics you lose track of how its metal. Pantera was and still is the greatest metal band of all time!!
Shit just got real lol! My favourite band so really appreciate this! Also wanted to say I really like the way you do your reactions. You're videos aren't too long, you don't say too much but when you do it's worth hearing. It's also not about you, it's all about the music & you're not putting a silly act on trying to be all crazy & hyperactive like a lot of other RU-vidrs. You seem very genuine & keep it chilled & real. I've just subscribed!
I agree I've been sitting here watching you react to everything from tool to van Halen, Pantera to system of a down and I enjoyed every last one of them. All about the music
This is what Philip (the singer) wrote to another reactor a couple of years ago when they reacted to this very song:. When I wrote this song, the lyrics were inspired by coming home to my very close friends after achieving a tiny-ass bit of respect (before we were even "big") and I noticed they were treating me differently, as if I had, or was gonna change on 'em. And honestly, it fucking kinda hurt they would feel this way, talk shit, etc...so damn, I wrote this song for them! I adore the fact you cats have an open minded opinion on music, because we ALL should! It's fucking healthy! I love all kinds of music, from almost every era, time, date and beyond. So Fellas, thanks again for the kind words, keep doing what you do, and I send my love, respect and praise to you both! Much love x's 2 + 100000000! Philip H. Anselmo, singer from the now defunct Pantera
There was always a debate on whether Pantera got their sound from Exhorder. Some stuff you can see the similarities, but overall they are both different bands with their own sound. Some bands are bound to have something that sounds like another song from a different band.
@@bobbyball77 PanterA are my fave band all time, hands down, but yeah Phil most definitely knew of Exhorder's music by the time of recording Vulgar(my fave album all time) and most def took inspiration from them. both great bands \m/
My Chriropractor: I can't believe you are walking around with your spine so shredded! What the hell did you do to yourself?! Me: i listen to Pantera My Chriropractor: get out of my office.
Favorite band! seen them too many times in San Antonio, Tx. Crazy times man! Thank the lord I'm still here to speak of good times! RIP my fallen friends!
A Punk Rock background.. That is who and what he is. To me the first...and perhaps the best example of Metal-Punk fusion. He has some pipes and range rarely seen.
I got to meet this band in the early 90's. I walked away stunned at how nice Dimebag was- After the show in Ybor city, He was playing pinball in a bar next to the venue and turned away from his game just to talk to some nervous teenage idiots trying to get his autograph. We would have still been happy if he barely looked up, but he took time to talk to us for a while. What a loss the universe suffered when he was taken away.
One of my favorite songs ever! Metal is funky, that's what makes Metal and Rock Music great. I personally love Metal Music anything Metal, Classic Rock/Hard Rock. You'd be surprised on which music inspires these guys. These guys love and appreciate all types of music. From Bach, Mozart, Beethoven to Rosetta Thorpe, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, George Clinton....list goes on and on. Anyone who loves Music knows that Metal Music is great, but not all great music is Metal\m/
Seeing people, (especially my beloved African Am. Brothers out there) witness the sheer badassness of Pantera for the FIRST TIME......is just...... Epic. RIP Dime.
Awww hell yes, that opening riff is like a muscle car engine revving and getting ready to eat up some asphalt. Gotta love these guys for their pure adrenaline.
To be fair Dime hit a lot of things with the Dean From Hell (the blue and black lightning bolt guitar's name), so much so that his guitar tech literally can't remember how many times he glued it back together lmao.
"When you combine head bobbing with the stank face, oh there's definitely some funk in there!" Haha, you're a G bro, keep up the reactions, been following up for a cool minute. Do some lesser known queen songs, you'll get crazy views. They're musicians to the bone, you'll 100% enjoy the melodies, vocals, drums, guitar, etc.🔥
There were no crowds like the early 90’s club shows. Those Pantera shows remain the best shows ever. 91 was their best ! Large venues separate the band and crowd, which kills the personal participation vibe. Pantera was a band of, by, and for the party people ! The ultimate party band !
I saw Incubus open up for Pantera, who then opened up for Black Sabbath. 1999 was a hell of a year. No one knew who the hell Incubus was but they blew up around that time. Big fan of all three to this day.
The man swingin that guitar is none other than motherf*ckin DIMEBAG DARRELL, the baddest f*ckin purple beard to ever live. Love you Dime. Love you Vinnie.
Brotha let me tell you the difference between you and the other reactors that sets you a part and one of the reasons I look forward to your videos.. you don’t just hit one song from a group, you do several black to back! That is awesome because sometimes reactors hit songs from a specific groups that fans don’t really like but when you do it like you do it , it catches everyone at once! Awesome job! Have a great day bro! 🤟🏻rock on🤟🏻
True.. I follow Alex Hefner, A&P HalfLifeSista and a few more.. But Jamal is something different.. Something apart. I've been a metal head for close to 25 years now.. And every new reaction video brings joy to my hellbound soul.. Its so Nice to see when someone (finally) digs deep into the catalouge of a band and not just skip from one song/genre to the next.. Its Nice to follow their progression (And no little amount of "shock" and awe from what they discover.. Metal Heads are one big (bearhugging) family and we're always Happy to Welcome Another member
ThePowerOf42 I follow and like Alex as well. HalfLifeSista hasn’t quite grown on me yet. Not sure what it is but idk... lol. Have an awesome day! Rock on 🤘🏻
@@davidgreen46 Well, i got half a mind about her as well.. I Really just started following her Because of the breakdown when she reacted to GhostLoveScore
Dimebag and Vinnie Paul. Brothers. One was one of the greatest guitarist and the other one of the greatest drummers to ever play. R.I.P. to both you are missed every day.
The man swinging the Guitar. Is Dimebag Darrel. Formerly known as Diamond Darrel back when Pantera made Glamour metal. He was shot on stage in 2002. May he rest in power.
OMG this is my favorite Pantera song! Saw them live only once....on tour with White Zombie in 1995 or 1996. This song live.....what you talkin bout!!??🤘💣 ETA..RIP Vinnie and Dimebag
I have to say, watching this channel just makes me smile and it's one of my favorite parts of the day. I just love that Jamel is a true music fan and that he always finds something to appreciate in every song and video that he shares with us. I think it would be cool to do a "Flip the Script Friday" or something like that where Jamel could share some of HIS favorite tunes and videos with US. I'm curious as all hell to find out what arcane treasures await us in Jamel's record collection!
I grew up listening to Pantera, and was blesses to see them live 5 time's. Just one of those band's you don't miss when the play close to you! I and many will never experience this again. All thanks to the piece of Sh*t that took dimebag from us all. Tragic. 🤘
I saw this in concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and it is the only time I actually felt fear at a concert. 10k plus people all moving in unison and the whole damn mountain was actually shaking. But that was one of the best concerts I have ever had the privilege of seeing.
The funk is cause the singer Phill is a New Orleans boy like myself!!! We have the soul & spirit off all music & musicians in our heart, soul,& veins!!! True melting pot in everyway !!! One Luv!!!
