I looked at many types and decided to forget the rest and buy the best, recieved it today, this is so well engineered. made my first batch as soon as i assembled it, AWSOME simple and flawless fast briquettes. it will pay for itself this winter, the type of quality product i love to own. thank you John for your great engineering, it was a pleasure speaking to you recently.
Just had one of these and in half an hour I was making brickettes. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to make there own brickettes. The free mashing rod was a bonus. I checked the other makes and this is the best believe me.
If you're looking for a briquette maker, don't bother. Going any further, that is. I was looking for ideas to fabricate my own. The web and RU-vid. I have stock, welding, machining and the skills to do it. Came across this and it's really not worth making your own. This is superb. I bought one. Not regretted for one minute. Simple, strong and efficient, it really is not worth the hassle for the money and time to make as this is just the job. There is one downside and that is the unit is designed and manufactured in Lancashire which grates a bit as I'm a Yorkshire lad. However, that aside, full marks. Great product, very fast delivery and excellent packaging. Good stuff!
just received my new table top multimate, its a great piece of kit made with quality materials and the build is very well constructed. Would recommend this to anyone looking for something similar.
This is a totally awesome piece of kit - I have one. Strong, sturdy, simple and very well made. I have made loads of briquettes in three weeks including SOABs (Standard Ordinary Average Briquettes), MOAB (Mother of All Briquettes) and yesterday I made a FOAB. My mixture comprises of paper/card and about 25% of sawdust. All solid briquettes, which when fully dry will be rock hard, and unable to break by hand. As weather is a bit hit and miss at the moment in the UK, I currently dry them under my stove on a wire tray which takes about 48 hours, with an occasional turn. I have done a burn test and it lasted an hour. A great way to reuse paper and card, and my recycling has dropped by over half. Well done John, and thanks for super swift delivery.
I've had my Briquette maker press about 8 years now. I must have made 10k briquettes using sawdust. A friend has just bought one and the quality has dropped. It's been simplified for production, but it's not a patch on yours 8 years ago. I've made a couple of videos. You should be proud of what you achieved.
If you shorten the front leg by 30/40 mm it would eliminate the need to tip the hole machine forward. Absolutely love this briquette maker good solid machine 👍
Hi Iain. the legs are ajustable. so you can set it up that way if you wish to. I thought about that when i designed the machine. best regards. JOHN DERBYSHIRE.
I can see your progression from early videos to current version - I enjoy engineering and design - nice job, the most practical of all briquette presses. Next version maybe build in the "drainage" angle so you don't have to tilt the unit.
@@rottmanthan Sorry Than Oliver i used the wrong term of "got her in the states" I meant that i had her in the USA & not had purchased it in the USA. I purchased it straight from John Derbyshire & had it shipped internationally to me. I had only wished that he did had some counter part or distribution in the USA....but i do love it. I'm getting ready here as spring starts to build my stock up.
i still use this today it still works like new and its paid for itself several times over now. the briquets burn so well, almost no flame but glow all night the briquettes are perfect for camping as they are so light weight
@@johnderbyshire1650 - I've had the same experience as Victor. I've had mine for a few years and love it. I just wish I had found it sooner as previous to owning your design, I wasted money on some other commercially available presses that simply didn't work. Your design is perfect and it was worth every penny (we have pennies here in the US). Thanks for making a great press!
hi john i have been a fan of your product since seeing your first video, although i have the skills to make a very simelar product i would rather purchase yours as you have put so much effort into making a uk product, something rare these days, people like yourself made britain world leading in engineering. it would be an honour to buy this. will be in contact soon.
Am so amazed with your great work you shown to the world. The world need more people like you. Thank you so much for this information. What is the price of the machine?
Just think you could use that not only to make paper briquettes, but you could imagine what type of insulation for walls you could make. Of course you need a lot more of them
hi Greg. they burn for about one hour. in good weather they dry outside in a week. weather as now under cover with air passing through them two to three weeks. burn test is the same as this one on youtube. ( Sawdust and Paper Mache Briquette Burn Test ) hope this is of help to you best regards JOHN DERBYSHIRE.
This looks like a well designed and well made device. It looks like form the video that it is relatively easy to use and effective. Do you have any burn videos that show how well the bricks burn? Do you have any heat tests of any sort? The only paper-brick burn tests I've seen are dismal at best. Thanks, B.
+William Brown hi look at this video on youtube. our briquettes are similar and burn for the same time. regards john derbyshire. Sawdust and Paper Mache Briquette Burn Test
Have you (or anyone else) tried with autumn leaves? I have a small wooded area in my garden and the perennial problem of cleaning up the leaves is approaching. I've often thought about the possibility of using them for briquette making rather than just disposing of, or composting them.
I vac up the autumn leaves with the garden vac, I also use shredded paper (it's secure shred so like confetti) as well as sawdust, teabags and old coffee grounds. I chuck it all into a large pvc barrel, add water & blend using my plaster mixing tool attached to my drill. I then make my briquettes in a piece of 4" plastic pipe, and a hydraulic car jack.
I'd buy 1 I'm already making paper logs but the amount of time required for a 6 inch thick paper log takes 3 days , an takes me 4 hours to make 3 paper logs.
Hey... I e-mailed you guys awhile back, maybe a month or so, and never got a response on pricing for one of these. I'm in the United States and looking to start creating these little fellas.
