I live in costal Virginia. Every spring, my backyard is like a cardinal sanctuary. I plan on making a couple of these cardinals for Christmas decorations as gifts.
I've added an extra layer to the frame - just a simple square which is very slightly smaller than the size of the "lid" of the box, which will be cut out of clear acetate to create a faux glass panel. The decal for the writing could even be put on it, and it will keep the dust out of the shadow box.
I grew up in the East with beautiful cardinals around. Unfortunately, they aren’t here in Colorado where I live now. Thank you for sharing your wonderful cardinal shadow box. I’ve added it to my craft list.
I Love this file! Working with the glue dots gave me hard time, but I finally finished. I used a piece of acetate inside of the cover, and found that I was out of vinyl for the sentiment. I tried using window cling and it worked great! Since it will be in a low traffic area, I am not concerned about it. A few wrinkles, ("creative character?!), but I love it! Thank you!
Another awesome video Jennifer. My sister in Sugar Land Texas gets tons of Cardinals and says it is my brother visiting from heaven so this is definitely one I am going to make for her, and I know she will love it. Thank you again for sharing what you love!
Jennifer, my Maker can’t get to the end of the shadow of cut without flashing red and white and stopping the cut. It looks like it gets to the end and cuts everything out except the outside edges. Any tips???
I know you don't recommend resizing the design but can I get it to fit an 8 inch box? I work at a school where the cardinal is our Mascot! Cool beans! Gotta make this.
I don't recommend resizing if you are satisfied with the dimensions when you upload. However, if you are trying to make it smaller or larger, you will have to resize it. Just be mindful of how the image looks.
It just depends on how large you want it to be. You can adjust the sizing the Design Space exactly once you've measured the inside of your shadow box frame.
Oh Jennifer, I have been waiting for a GREAT paper shadowbox which would include lights... and this one with the cardinal is Lovely and amazing. I just lost my MIL this would be PERFECT.. Thank You!!
