I enjoy most turn based RPGs, recently finally played through the original final fantasy 7 as well. I understand why they are in the game, it's just not for me at THAT SCALE, I enjoyed the "specific timing on the animation" ones, like on defense. They felt a little more engaging and "skill" based. But the mashing, mashing buttons in and RPG, or mashing the stick left as fast as I can, constantly, for a 20 hr game, its just too much. Interestingly enough, I kinda of missed the initial pokemon craze due to my age, I thought it was for kids. I discovered the games much later, and have enjoyed quite a few of them, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver probably being my favorite experience so far, I have a couple on the backlog to complete and will make videos once I do. More so the specific ones here, it really hit me around hour 10, still having to hit left on the control stick as fast as I could for the boo friends normal command, I think it just wore me down to be honest lol. I played and beat thousand year door when it released, haven't played the re release yet, so not much memory of that experience. I also played and beat origami King and sticker star. I'm currently playing through Super Paper Mario. I think it the controls just wore down on me over the playthrough, I also have colour splash in my backlog to play, Thank you for watching!

@@tylerdohoney1544 I appreciate your level headed comments, it's refreshing Rewatching my video, I feel like I could have done a better job explaining why it hurt the over all experience for me, and I should have put some heavier focus on the things I did enjoy about the game. I'm still learning to make videos with this backlog project, writing and conveying my thoughts into something that isn't super boring to watch, and drag on, is pretty difficult sometimes I use the comments as a way to measure if I got myself across properly. While I stand by my feelings and thoughts on my experience, I think I could have explained why I liked the defensive portion better, the timing of the presses based on the enemy animations was enjoyable. Thank you again!

@@JimmyPotatoTV SPM, while being the first to steer the series into more of a platformer direction with light RPG elements, still retained much of the charm of the first two games and even expanded on the original characters (though your appreciation for the minimalist art style of the Flipside residents may vary), especially the four main antagonists, in my opinion. The gameplay can be a little dull at times, though when it switches up the X and Y axes, it can be a fun distraction. The story is one of the best of any Mario RPG, though many of the chapters feel less involved and engaging than the overall main plot. Backtracking can be a pain, but that’s true for any Metroidvania-style game if that’s not something you’re super into. The Pixie companion characters were an obvious step down from previous entries’ partners, especially in the design department, but they’re more ancillary anyway given that you can switch between Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi at will once you’ve acquired them, so I think it evens out. The game was more decisive back during its release, I think, but opinions today usually range from, “it was the last good one,” to, “it wasn’t as good as the first two, but still enjoyable,” to, “it ruined the series,” to, “it’s retroactively a bit better than I remember, but probably because it was the last one before Sticker Star ruined the franchise despite its different approach from the first two,” which is the camp I’m in. But yeah, man, just fine tune your scripts by an extra day or two and keep it up. I certainly couldn’t do what you’re doing.

I did play TTYD when it released back in the day for gamecube, but my memory is muddy on it, I remember enjoying it. I do plan to play through the re release on Switch some day. Ok... But since we are here already play 'Bug Fables'! Its paper mario but bugs! Haha. But seriously the controls are certanly somthing you need to get used to. Their not that bad actually.

Bug Fables fixes this guy's main complaint. It does have button mashing segments, but you can disable all of them in the settings in exchange for sequenced button presses.

Thanks for watching Dink! Different strokes and all that, some people love this battle system but it wore me down after 10 hrs, and there was still 10 hrs to go lol I like turn based RPGs, but this annoyed me into missing out on what everyone else enjoyed I think lol

I think It just wore on me as the game went on, If I would have gotten this when it released back in the n64 days, I probably would have enjoyed the experience more. Playing through it today though, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted too. A nitpick would have been mentioning the peach sections of the game they put you into after freeing a star friend. I felt like those ground the momentum I had going to a halt, and killed any high I had from completing an area and beating a boss. I'm glad I played it though, my backlog is extensive, and I know I won't love every single game in it, I can def understand why so many people love the game though. I completed the game with very little trouble, my issue is with the experience of doing that, not the ability to do it. C- comment Marc, you can do better

I don't think you would insist in the consequences of missing your inputs if you were half decent at getting them right, which is something even children can do. On the other hand, I also have an issue with the experience of watching your bad takes, your annoying voice or your silly aesthetics.

That's awesome there is an item to carry more items, I didn't find it. Spent 20 hours on the game, and this was my experience with it, embarrassing or not, that's all it is, nothing more, nothing less. I was going to go into the BP system and the badges that raise power, the fact they cost 6 points, which is essentially 2 levels, is kinda crazy. In the end, the pushing buttons for offense wore me down, and annoyed the hell out of me. It's a fun story, with a great look, but just not for me, I'm glad so many people enjoy it though, and I said as much in the video. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
