I started learning to do my nails in April this year and I absolutely ruined my natural nails with over filing and then going too long with extensions, breaking them, tearing the layers of nail etc. This month they have a short oval extension in gel to give them a bit more time to grow out, using your advice! Hopefully in a couple of months they'll be fully grown out and I can use what I now know and stop destroying them lol 😂 Thank you so much for all the advice xxx

@@melmel007 I'm disabled and get shakes, so it's been a challenge but I'm proud to say that I'm now better than the people I was paying to do my nails before, and I have a lovely collection of nail stuff lol 😂 I even managed to do a nice pedicure for my sister, not bad for a wobbly old girl

i also ruined my nails overfiling when i first started using polygel for extensions. i used an e file too close to my cuticles with too much pressure. my nails were thin and sore, and it took like 3 months for my nails to grow all the way out long enough to try again lmao now they look pretty good for my first set! im wearing them now!

These are just gorgeous! But I'd expect nothing less from you lol. I really love the color blended over the glitter instead of the usual glitter blended over color. It's just a nicer look in my opinion. I always get happy when you upload! You've become one of my favorite RU-vid channels, along with Kirsty Meakin and Lissette Cruz. 😘😘

My nails are damaged like hers are! And I’ve been doing my own nails for a year now. Oops!, been looking for a video on how to protect my nails while I grow out the damage. They are sensitive to heat if they’re naked 😭 this is my fault. Guess I’ll do a layer of soft gel like she recommended in the beginning and take it easy on the filing.

I actually recommend butting any base gel/ or regular color over them.. and just cut the free edge every 5 days to week .. your nails will look like you bite them but trust me it helped me when I damaged my nails bc I didn’t remove it properly ..

I hope you don't mind that I've answered Your question. For this length, the process can take anywhere from 3 to 6 hours, depends on if You want like some nail art, lot of blind or just the overall technique that Your nail tech uses. I hope this helped a bit. Have a great day! 😊

I’m glad you made the comment about why you would prefer her to do vs what she wanted. I thought thin nails like this were not supposed to have ANYTHING at all done on them including overlay?? When I did this to my nails I just used a builder in a bottle on my natural nail & let them grow.

It is always better to have something on then rather then nothing. Water makes them more damaged without protection they will get thinner. This is overfiling mistakes ive done this to myself

Beautiful! This set is perfect for Fall. I hope you were able to do a little nail prep education for your client so she will be able to get her nails healthy again when she’s back home. can i ask, after you wiped off the sticky of the gel, after u took the forms away, do u not need to matte the surface before applying more gel? will it not peel off?

do you not have to buff or matte the nails after taaking of the sticky layer off the base and extension before reapplying gel??? that's why I never did the shapeing step before cause i didn't wanna have to file over..

It is so hard though. They will bend and peel and hurt a lot with nothing. She was right, a soft overlay is ideal but I have been like this client and went with extensions. After a few weeks they are much better 🤗

Hi there! QQ... in these cases where your client has thinned out all of her nails and insists on having extensions, would acrylic have been a better option? At least to avoid the burning sensation in the lamp? Gorgeous and elegant nails by the way.

acrylic goes through a thermal spike while drying. its usually not noticeable on healthy nails but on nails like these, it would feel just about the same as in the lamp

I hope you don't mind a random replying with an answer on this. I'm not a nail biter but thanks to genetics and illness my nails are really brittle and dry, lots of ridges etc and crack often, I've been following Anastasia for a little while now and OBSESSED. She is by far the best nail tech, and best nail tech tutor on RU-vid worldwide that I've seen (seriously!) I think she touches on that she did competitions (maybe WorldSkills?) So she knows all the basics and tricks for awkward nails. There are quite a few videos on her channel now for nailbiter transformations that I've watched, and the majority of the time she uses Polygel for these. She recently did a Yayoge polygel kit review and has discount codes for this too, I've ordered, I would recommend you to have a look if you were thinking of doing them yourself or getting them done at home by someone with experience 👍🏻✨ I hope this helps! Sorry for the lengthy reply 😂😅🤓

@@Jakoshi no worries! As a child up to teens I was a terrible nail biter so I know the struggle! I reckon that Polygel will definitely do you some good! Have a look on Anastasia's YT homepage and she's got a full series of nail transformations! It's crazy how quickly some of the nailbeds grow back and actually having the overlays can help speed up the healing process tremendously! Definitely a good option to go for to kick your habit and get some great healthy nails going on 👍🏻🥰🤓

I've used both, and I can say from my experience that you have more options with acrylic, but hard gel levels itself easier, has no fumes and is pretty quick especially just for overlay. It also files easier. But you get a harder nail with, in my opinion, better strength and easier to build apex from acrylic

@@muffinfluff2476 Hard gel consistency really varies from brand to brand, it seems. Madam Glam builder gel is very soft, while Light Elegance gels cure just about as hard as any acrylic I've tried thus far. Exclusive Nail Couture hybrid gel is way way way easier to file than IBD control gel. I want to get my hands on Luminary Nail Systems and see how hard that product because it claims to be a very hard gel that still can soak off.

From Yayoge i had a major allergic reaction... Very bad quality. I imagine the colors are good but the metacrylate in it just too much. The builder gels make a heat in the lamp.Burning like Hell😄😆 Not good at all....
