OVER-filed nails | Nail Tech Who Helped Me to Believe in Myself
In this video we are going to transform nails with hard gel overlay that were overfilled previously in the salon. She was modeling for the nail technician who was having an interview to get hired to this salon.

99% of nail techs and salons here in Canada OVERFILE the natural nail plate.That's why I stopped going to salons and started doing my own gel nails. These cheap salons don't care about their clients the way you do,it's all about money to them.The walk in salons do 1 client per hour and sometimes they can have 10 clients in the same salon at once.Thats why I watch you,because you are gentle and careful and care about your clients!

Same in US. I started doing my own nails for cute designs when I was a teen. As an adult I tried salons bcuz it’s easier to have someone do ur nails for you. They messed up my nail beds after I recovered from being a nail biter, it was the last time I went to anybody.

Same here in New England. The salons I’ve been to know nothing of the word apex or over-filing. It’s really sad. And that’s why I do my own nails. I also love Russian style nails which are unpopular here in the states. Thank you Anastasia. ❤️

@@quitetidy Yea most of the shops are.Nail chop shops.But that is not to say that all Asian owned salons are bad, it just seems as if the majority are.They are so cheap to get acrylics at $30-40 a set that alot of people don't care about the safety or sanitary issues at most of these chop shops.

I did my mother in laws nails and I was very upset the way they did her nails. It was dip and every nail was lifting. Half of them fell off. I did her nails and she said “this is the best anyone has ever done my nails, and they aren’t painful” I’ve only been doing nails for 10 months, and I’m not licensed yet, so that motivated me so much! I’ve learned so much from your channel! Thank you so much, you’re so informative and talented !

I remember my first acrylic set hurt so badly that evening. It felt like my nails were in clamp. I considered cutting them off but didn't know what to do. The salon techs in Texas are very rough and overfile the nails, especially with new sets and fills, leaving rings of fire and ultra thin nails. Now I do my own hard/polygel and dip nails and I never feel pain because I watch you, Suzie, and Tatiana and know how to be careful with the E-file. Also my natural nails are about 3 cm long with a gel overlay, which would have been impossible with salon acrylics. I did a beautiful set on my left hand tonight and couldn't be happier! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!

Unfortunately, overfilling is the reason I stopped wearing acrylic nails for over a decade. Every time, always, at every place I went to, the techs really hurt me! When I complain of "burning", they blame it on me! Or even said, "No it isn't!". I have renewed hope and can maybe find a place that will be awesome! Please recommend if you live in Charlotte NC! The first time I got my nails done in Toronto they actually broke through the top of my nail with the dremel. Then my nails got infected underneath the false nails. I had to go to the E.R. to have them be removed, and put on antibiotics. It was so painful I have never gone to a salon to get my nails done ever again.

I am so sorry you had to experience that!! It sounds horrible and I hope you healed well. Your story makes me very weary of nail salons, and made me realize how lucky I've been with my nail tech. She is the one and only I ever went to, but unfortunately I had to stop going due to growing expenses. Now I'm trying to do my nails myself, and you remind me to be VERY careful with the e-file. I overfiled once already and my nails became super sensitive to hot and cold water.

4 words ppl need to remember. Product sticks to product. Any and all this works. Hard gel, soft gel, acrylics, any. This means no need to prime anything but natural nail and as you said, you can just add new to a thin coat left on the nail to give them a chance to grow out and not cause a bigger problem. Had you tried to remove that gel all the way off, with the nails so badly filed? You would have undoubtedly tore right through them. This is why it is best to leave a thin layer.

Thanks a lot!!! Right now I have over filed nails 😥
@dizzinese
@dizzinese 2 года назад
@@avril6922 I’m sorry that happened to your nails. In case you didn’t know, depending on your body, they will be grown out in about 4-6 months. That’s from the cuticle to the free edge. As fast as time goes if you take care of them, you will have healthy nails before you know it! Merry Christmas 🍪

That's why I was always thinking why file the nail plate and then use primer? Why not one of those?
@dizzinese
@dizzinese 2 года назад
@@krakusanna18 I was a nail tech a long time ago and I just started using gel on my own nails s few months ago. You know how they all say use a medium coarse file to the nail so it will stick? Not! I have been using a fine buffer a primer and I can hardly get my gel off! No lifting no problem. There’s no need to be so harsh to your nail but that’s just my opinion. And I still believe that acrylic is the very best option for nails. This gel is easier to do on myself but it’s not nearly strong enough . It wears down so easily that my nails can’t even reach the length I want in twice the time! Good luck to you with your nails! The good news is no matter what we do to our hair or nails, they always grow back! (With a few major exceptions.) merry Christmas !🎄
@dizzinese
@dizzinese 2 года назад
@@krakusanna18 my belief is that the filing should be only to be certain that all the surface oils as well as through a few layers is oil free. I know you wipe with an antiseptic or cleanser but you dont spend long doing it just a quick wipe. And the primer is somehow formulated with the other products to adhere to your nail. It likely also changed the ph on the nail. I’m not a chemist but I’m sure there is a chemical bonding that the primer does. Now with acrylics way back in the 80’s and part of the 90’s before bond aid came out, the acid primers would actually chemically burn a rough surface into the layers of your nail( microscopically) so that the product would stick. That’s was not such a problem if done properly, because you shouldn’t have to go over the area again. But like all things, now there is a less invasive and damaging way to do it. But keep in mind. No matter how damaged your hair or nails get, the out growth is always perfectly healthy and if you want to just start over, you can. The living part of the nail is in the cuticle area so if you slam your finger in a car door right on that area you could cause permanent damage to that nail. However, if you slam the same nail in the door but the damage is to the nail plate, it will eventually grow out healthy and be fine. Hope I didn’t bore you. Merry Christmas!🎄

@s @s aww u poor girl,I share ur pain. I wish I had some miracle solution but I don't. Use a good cuticle oil on the whole nail or aloe Vera serum if you have one and apply it often,at least 3-4 times a day to speed up the healing process.Avoid exposure to water especially warm or hot and for the pain to use over the counter pain meds. No lie I took Ibuprofen 800 mg 2-3 times a day and still it didn't help much because if I touched anything or something came in contact with my nails I just wanted to scream. But everyone is different, yours might just heal faster than mine and it depends on how overfiled they are,mine were pretty bad.But if you apply an oil a few times a day you should be good to go shortly! Sorry I couldn't help more,good luck with everything and I wish you a great vacation

The first and only time I had acrylic nails, was like 13 years ago for a birthday party. Let's just say that I took them off the very next day and I realized how long it took for my nails to recover from that (like 6 months to grow out the filed nail plate). I said I'm never gonna get fake nails again in my life. She also cut my epynochium and I bled in several fingers (because my skin doesn't overgrow). Never again will I step inside a nail salon again.

I had trouble for many years with biting my nails so far down they bled. Undiagnosed anxiety will do that to a person. I never could afford to go to a salon so I've learned how to do my own (I'm 36) and in the last three years I've taught myself gel polish, and I've ordered myself some polygel and dual forms (a kit, just the basics) to teach myself that. I'm much better now, I don't bite my nails anymore (not since my 20s) and even without an overlay they grow out nice and strong now. But I've been watching you and a couple of Korean nail channels and I'm going to learn polygel. I just do this for myself and my mum, but its a fun new skill.

I have always had VERY thin flat nails which have a lot of moisture, so it's really difficult for me to get product to stick to them for very long. It's also super easy to overfile mine because I have so little natural nail thickness to begin with. Whenever I use the glue-on/press-on kind of nails, my fingertips hurt like this without any filing beforehand

I love how she isn’t bashing negatively on the nail tech that over-filed, but instead is pointing out the mistakes and showing what you can do instead

I LOVE watching you work. It's so satisfying to watch the cleanup and cutting of the cuticles. I LIVE for that part of the video. That and the designs. I found your other channel by accident yesterday lol. I didn't even know you had another channel. I subscribed to that one as well. At least I believe it's your channel anyway. Nail Couture is the name. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! ♥️ Love the design! Thank you for sharing!

Love it! Have learned so much watching your videos. Russian people seem so disciplined. I kind of laughed when you said that it's not typical for them to give compliments. But I think it's just their way. They are more focused. And also the type of "what you see is what you get." Person. I can relate to that. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! 😚💙
