Thank you so much for posting! So neat how they integrated features found in other programs into one easy-to-use program. I'm excited to give it a try!

I am curious if Grammarly and/or ProWriting Aid are usable with Papyrus without having to export to word or something first.

I'll say this: I have Scrivener 3 for Windows but am not a high-end user. That said, I was disappointed with Scrivener's thesaurus and dictionary. It took some time for me to figure out that some of its advertised features applied to the Mac version because it drew from that OS. In this dept, Papyrus Author is far better than Scrivener and has been invaluable to me (free version at that).

I am a devoted Scrivener user, and yet this video might have converted me 😅 So many AMAZING free features! A hard-core Plotter's dream~♡ ☺ I especially love how you can hover over a characters name to get their info! 🤗 in scrivener you have to go to Timbuctoo and back 😅 Definitely going to try this out!

Use it first.... it's trash. Found most of the features are half assed in their implantation and function. Good ideas, bad execution everywhere, and that's ignoring that bad 90's-mid 200's skuphomoric design and interface. Distraction free mode is the mos distracting thing I've ever seen. Others seem to like it... not me.

@@pghcraig thank you so much for letting me know! I kinda saw how much it cost and was like... nope! 😅 much cheaper alternatives

@@pghcraig The truth and nothing but the truth about Papyrus. Thanks a lot! Take a look at "Patchwork-Author" its cheaper and more powerfull.

Before this video, I had never heard of Papyrus authors. I have to say that it looks very impressive. I don't know how it compares to Pro writing aid but I will check it out.

I’ve been using Papyrus Pro for just over a year. I use it in a lot of different ways, probably different than most. I create DOCX files with it where I paste my dictation. I use the editing feature (repeated words) as I PROOF, as you mentioned. Takes a little longer to proof, but helps make them pretty tight. I still put the DOCX through PWA for grammer/style/overused/diction/pronouns. When I’m done editing all the DOCX files, I copy/paste them into a final PAP. Repeated words REALLY helps because it also forces you to think of better words and helps me reword some things to sound better.

Agree. Repeated words is one of my favorite PA features.

The issue with a lot of software these days is that they want a subscription which is over priced per month and enduring. There's a big disconect between a) the enduring value of the software and b) what the typical author makes from their work.

Hi Michael, I don't know how you feel about requests for videos. I wanted to ask you about worldbuilding while writing into the dark. I've been reading yours and Dean Wesley's books on writing into the dark and am sold on the practice. I've been running into some issues in getting going though, like the aforementioned worldbuilding topic. Is this something you plan out before hand and flesh out as you write or do you just wing it and document the world as you go, similar to the outline as you go method? Do you know a streamlined technique? I have some ideas to try, but have been swinging back and forth between two modes of thought that I've been calling the "document as you go" method and the "using worldbuilding as a springboard or engine" for writing into the dark. As I said, I don't know how you feel about video requests but I'd be stoked to hear your take on this topic. Your advice has cleared up my thinking on a bunch of other topics.

Papyrus is very, very, very complicated. It only looks so easy in the video. Its also a copy of "Patchwork-Author" which is more powerfull and much cheaper. It's only known through marketing (paid critics for example), not through quality. I like "Scrivener".
