Hi Kevin, you do great work. I was wondering if the turks head handle wrap would work on an axe that has varied shape and thinkness in the handle?

Do you sell Garnet paracord? I really want to make this hatchet in garnet and gold for my FSU alumni father. Do you think the maroon you sell is close enough?

I have tried this two diff times and have failed both times haha. I think my problem is my axe handle is shorter than yours and I just need to make 5 rounds and not 7. Once I get to the 3 and 4 passes everything is so close and bunched up that I can't tell whats going where haha... great videos tho!! Keep them coming!!

you do not need the friction tape. just remove the inner strings of the 550 cord, the guts, and wrap the gutted cord around the object. perfect for a base wrap, and will not add girth to the object. if you want more girth, don't gut it. simple.

I don't see this technique as necessary... Tie the long turks head on a mandrel with a leather collar... and then transfer the knot to the handle... this seem like a lot of work that's not necessary... Kenn

But what if you don't have, can't afford, or don't know how to make a mandrel? Plus, this method creates the knot where it will be. I think this would give a better idea of the final knots fit and appearance than creating the knot on the mandrel and moving it over to tighten. I'm going to try this method on my next build and see how it goes.
