My first day of Club Pilot training (paragliding) in Pandy, South Wales. On this day, I managed only two flights unfortunately due to wind strength, but they were worth the wait! My first ever ridge taste of ridge paragliding, together with some valuable ground-handling practice on the hill.
I made a couple of errors:
- During kiting, I turned the wrong way, I am so used to turning left but had set to turn right as this would be easier for this ridge and the current wind direction. I recovered fortunately and learnt a lesson!
- During kiting, I was too focused on looking at the wing instead of feeling it, therefore trod on some spiky plants!
- On my first right-hand turn, I didn't look before commencing the turn, I did on subsequent turns after my instructor alerted me to this. I guess it was due to nerves and concentration that I had initially forgotten!
- On my final landing, I wasn't fully into-wind, therefore my landing was a little faster than it should be.
