Im still a newbie but Ive seen enough paragliding videos on youtube to know that you got some of the best instructional content of anyone anywhere. i bought i used glider awhile back from you and was disappointed in the glider but about three months later that glider got a whole lot better performance. i now realize my skill level needed to improve to use it properly. I envy your job if you can call it that and your humility even though your a highly skilled professional pilot and instructor. I will admit i was turned off by the skeleton logo when i first stumbled on your site but i decided to not judge a book by its cover and instead discovered some pearls of wisdom on the subject of paragliding. God bless!

I wish I could see your hands better so I knew whether you were having your hands down or having your hands up, during the landings. I love this video and I watch it over and over.

In Germany the paragliding association teaches a method to gage/determine your height ("peilen") and therefore how to know when to do your final approach. Of course you should lose height outside the landing field, but the tricky part is knowing when to actually go for the final approach (am I to high... To low)? .

Hi Marc Is there a way to tell/know if you can reach a desired landing area before you takeoff?

another great video Marc, quick question, lets say you are flying and after an hour you forget which direction the wind is blowing, theres no signs, eg: smoke, backs of leaves, anything else and you have a landing field in site and you want ot land on it? would you recommend a compass as a good guide? at least then you know the direction of wind at take off ? just a future concern i might have as a new pilot

Yes I have flown with a compass for many years, a great help indeed.

it's really strange, I still faithfully follow paragliding channels... even though I can only dream of being able to actively do it... I'm still on earth dreaming of being like you... very unattainable for me... :(...

When you make your last pass from the gas turns flying crosswind, at what altitude do you initiate your 90-degree turn? If you have to be a little bit high or a little bit low would you pick to be a little bit high and how would you adjust for it?
@leavesleyaviation

A bit high then very small s turns to scrub off height.

You produce the best instructional videos in my opinion. I've got my cp but not flown in the UK yet. The ground speed at which you approach the landing is scary. My question is, would you be tempted to use a bit of brake if you found yourself overshooting or just to make it less scary? I've seen people use butterfly movements on the brakes - sort of pulsing on the brakes on approach abroad or is this something you only do in higher winds. What about just a light touch on the brakes to stay connected to the wing - is that any help?

Speed is best because when you get to the flare you come to a nice stop, pulsing the brakes can be very risky because if you pull them to much the wing may stall, this will not be good at all. I am doing a lot of personal fly guiding for pilots from all over the world so you can always come for some help and tips.

Wonderful review…again! Weather here has also been severe for our area and no flying for the last 3 months for me. Great motivation for me to get out again…Best wishes!🪂
