Join me on a serene paragliding hike & fly adventure that took place on April 13, 2024. After months of waiting, I finally found the time to hike from Beatenberg Waldegg to Beatenberg Hohwald with my bigger rucksack, which included my Advance Lightness 3 Pod Harness and Epsilon 9 Wing. This was my first flight since the birth of my daughter, and the warm evening weather added to the charm.
The hike took over an hour, a bit longer than my best time of 36 minutes. Arriving at Hohwald, I expected to be alone as professional tandem pilots aren't typically allowed to launch after 17:00, but I was surprised to find 45 tandem pilots ready for their last launch of the day. After waiting for them to clear out, I prepared for takeoff.
Launching reverse due to a headwind, I touched ground briefly but soon took to the skies. Heading to the standard thermal to the right of the launch, I found it was too late for any climb. I then flew towards the Harder mountain, where other pilots were already soaring. Instead of seeking maximum airtime, I decided to fly out over Interlaken and land on Höhenmatte.
Flying over Interlaken, I was treated to stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains, along with the Lobhorn, Thunersee, and Brienzersee. This flight was a perfect blend of challenge and beauty, offering breathtaking scenery and peaceful moments.
