This video features an interesting compilation from the final leg of 16106’s journey (Tambaram to Egmore) lead by a Tondiarpet (TNP) Alco. This starts off with an exciting parallel run with a MTC bus, right from which the hardcore chugging of the Tondiarpet Alco can be witnessed. This alco chug till the destination was a delightful experience as always. Parallel actions en route made it even more cool.

Little about end to end diesels with south bound trains:
16105/06 also commonly known by the name ‘Chendur Express’ is a daily train operated by the Southern Railway within Tamil Nadu, connecting the state capital Madras with Tiruchendur.
With mindless electrification being carried out in rapid pace, diesel locomotives have started to lose their duties to their electric counterparts. Though the Chennai Egmore - Villupuram section is a Fully Electrified Double Line (FEDL) section, in February 2018, Southern Railway decided to run a few trains on end to end diesel traction in order to save the time lost from loco change.
This opened doors to more diesel action in MAS division with 16105/06 Tiruchendur Exp, 6795/96 Cholan Express, 16175/76/85/86 Chennai Egmore - Karaikal/Velankanni (Link) Kamban Express and the likes running with diesel locomotives end to end.
But then, a few months back the Tiruchendur bound and Tiruchirappalli bound expresses were reverted back to electric locomotives for the Chennai - Villupuram run. This had cut off the two important daylight diesel experiences in the Madras region. Apart from a handful of weeklies and a few overnighters, diesel actions are fading out. Not to simply woo around, but the charm of diesel locomotives is something only they can match up to.
Anyways, these captures are from the sixth month of 2019, back when the dove shed alcos took charge of the train end to end.
