I actually witnessed someone car starting to catch fire while they were leaving a drive thru line and I just happened to have 2 24pks of Ice Mountain water and those bottle of water saved this guys work truck. So always have water or a fire extinguisher can come in clutch for sure. Awesome job man, way to be a good concerned and actionable citizen!
@@HP_line_cook The dirt wouldn't really hurt the outside of the engine as it looks like the fire was somewhere near the exhaust manifold. If the fire was bad enough to melt the valve cover then the dirt would absolutely harm the engine. But it comes down to this, if your only option is a little dirt or a fire to burn the entire truck down the dirt isn't so bad.
If yall ever find yourself in a similar situation this is absolutely not the recommended way to handle it. Im glad everything worked out and this man is really brave for saving this man and his vehicle, but here is how you should actually handle the situation to keep yourself safe Vehicle fires typically spread fast. Pull over immediately and turn off the vehicle, get yourself and all the passengers out, DO NOT GO BACK FOR BELONGINGS, YOUR LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT DONT USE WATER (even though fire fighters will typically use water, in the very unlikely situation that its the fuel tank it might make the situation worse, and if its not you probably dont have enough water to put it out like they did so your most likely standing next to a ticking time bomb for nothing) if you can see the fire and have a fire extinguisher you can try to put out the fire, BUT DO NOT OPEN THE HOOD to access the fire, this exposes the fire to more air flow helping it to grow faster If you dont have an extinguisher or cant access the fire, try to get at least 100 feet away from the vehicle, preferably up wind so you dont inhale any toxic smoke. BUT KEEP IN MIND, your standing next to a road, keep an eye out, you dont wanna survive a car fire just to be offed by a car anyway. Call the 911, if you can't, flag down another motorist to either call or get in contact with 911 ASAP, ask everyone who stops to call, some people might not. Wait for the police to arrive. Another good point to add, I know some of yall don't like wearing shoes if your on a long car ride, but if it's winter out, keep your boots on, and your winter gear exsessable, THIS IS A NECESSITY, if you live in a cold place, losing your only shelter without the proper gear is just as dangerous if not more dangerous as trying to put it out yourself
My nephew has born premature and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 6 months too. Right now we're hoping that the surgery that's coming will help allow him to walk a little. This gives me a little bit of hope that he might turn out okay.
I watched the short version of this video the other day and it too inspired me to go out and buy a fire extinguisher, because I'm watching this and his truck looks a year or two newer than my 2019 ram 1500. And that kind of scared me that something that new could go through that. And yes, Walmart is where I got it too.
I’ve been trying to add a comment since the last week of August, but I don’t know why it isn’t appearing. Anywayyy, I just want to thank you, Sir Zachary! I’ve watched it so many times; it’s so cool and awe-inspiring! Edited: oh, thank heavens.
I saw this happen to a 18 wheeler. Luckly we were able to get thr guys attention and get him to pull over to put the fire out. Im glad he listned to us since the back was on fire, a small fire. At first he ignored us yelling out the window and honking at him at like 1am.
I saw a truck going down I-85 out of atlanta one day who's entire bed was on fire. I tried to flag him down, but he must have already known and was panicking because he was hauling it as fast as that old 90's pickup could go. Wildest thing I've seen in a long time
