"Paralysed" Gang of Four Cover by Warpaint

Just in case we were wondering why we loved Warpaint.... covering Gang of Four is so on-the-nose and perfect, THANK YOU! Oh, we needed this. 💚☭🖤

I discovered Warpaint last year and bought all their albums! I thought "New Song" was their new song but it's several years old. They get better and better, on all levels, the more I consume. That drummer is uncanny... the bone structure that this band hangs from. The production is excellent on this as well. I'm on my 10th listen. I'd travel to see this show.

As a Northener exiled in the South, unhappily, listening to good Northern music keeps the fires burning, and Gang of Four were a tight, funky, intelligent and sardonic very Northern band that I've always loved alongside Magazine, Echo and the Bunnymen and Ladytron. Warpaint are obviously American, but have a weird fragile genius to their songs and a thoughtfulness that seems on first glance at odds with Gang of Four, I'm not entirely convinced by the cover, but I do love their music and hopefully we will get some new music soon, I've just heard Lily, a new Warpaint song which is sonically interesting. BTW Anthrax is my fave GOF song. Very Kafkaesque. "Love will get you like a case of Anthrax, and that's something I don't want to catch." Now ladies perhaps a Delta 5 cover is on the cards!

Here's an idea if you like epic music. 💡 You need to listen to Mötley Crüe! They are epic and they have the best drummer ever! HE CAN EVEN PLAY UPSIDE DOWN!!! Look up Kickstart My Heart, Dr. Feelgood, Home Sweet Home, Primal Scream, Live Wire, and Tommy's drum solos. You won't regret it!!

The composition sounds like something from their yesteryear. General Warpaint goodness.. Trying to be constructive here, but the vocal delivery, on the other hand, is borderline spoken word, and it doesn't quite gel here. It's a shame when the majority of the band are good singers.
