That is so sad 😭. You have to fight for your cat. Our cat too had a freak accident two weeks ago, injury to the lower spine. Our vet also told us to put our cat down, not only coz the injury is complicated to treat in a kitten but also coz our cat was aggressive towards the vets which made it impossible for the vets to work on her and there was very high risk for additional injuries in the process of trying to help her. We refused to put her down and asked our vet to tell us what we should do so we can try to save her ourselves coz our cat trusts us more, vets are strangers to her, and at home in a familiar environment she might behave better when being treated. We took her home for a day, she was very good with taking the medicine when we gave it to her, but unfortunately we were unable to help her urinate.... So with a heavy heart we took her back to the vet to put her down and out of this misery.... But then last minute i asked the vet for one last try, i asked the vet if she could help our kitten urinate one last time, only this time i will hold her coz maybe in my arms she will be more calm and cooperative. It worked! Then the vet and I made the decision to continue fighting for her life and not to give up just yet. Now our kitten has started to urinate on her own unassisted, and even though she is visibly in pain, she has started to use her hind legs and walk a little bit. When she grows up, she might need reconstructive and stabilising surgery for her spine (it can't be done now coz she is too small and there is not enough bone tissue for the doctors to work with)... But there is also a small chance that the spine might correct itself on its own as she heals. We are hoping for the best and we are happy we made that last minute decision to give another try at saving our kittens life coz so far she is showing promising progress in the right direction and to a good recovery.

@@SpiritDragonesshi. What happened to your cat? Did he recover now? My case was exactly as yours. I took him to 4 different vets and 3 told me to put him down. He had hind leg reflexes but no pain. I decided to keep emptying his bladder and now it’s going to be 20 days tomorrow but he is beginning to stretch his back legs even if unconsciously. I have decided to keep him even if I have to buy him a cart and keep helping him urinate and defecate while putting him through physiotherapist.

@@malasarma6724 aaaw, 20 days and still needs assistance to urinate... Looks like your kitty has a more serious injury than what ours had. (Ours started to urinate unassisted on day 5 after injury, once the swelling in her spine subsided and released the pressure on the nerve that is responsible for urination. we would find her sleeping in a pool of urine. Puppy pads were not quick enough in absorbing it) How often do you make her pee? Does your cats tail respond, show emotion, or is it floppy? I heard that cats can have involuntary movements in their hind legs after spinal injuries (even after severed spinal cord), so sometimes it can give false hope. Does your cat try to put its hind feet neatly under himself in a loaf position? Have you been to a vet neurologist? That is the only doctor who can tell for sure if the spinal cord is severed or intact, and what are the chances of recovery and to what level. Regular vets mostly will just suggest putting the animal down coz they cannot tell for sure what the outcome will be coz it is a bit out of their expertise, and there is nothing much they can do to help. But if you are ready to care for a disabled cat for the rest of its life, then fight for your cat, learn how to help your cat with urination and poop, get a cart (even though not all disabled cats like them. Some disabled cats prefer just dragging their hind legs and get annoyed by any attachments ). In short, be prepared for the worst but hope for the best. I really hope your cat makes a good recovery. If your cat starts to put its feet under itself in a loaf position, it is a good sign, the first steps before trying to stand up on its hind legs. Our cat made a 90% recovery, there is a slight kink in her spine that will stay for life and might start to bother her in old age. Her spinal cord was injured, but not severed, that is why she recovered so well. She is lucky. Right now she is a fully functioning, independent cat that runs, jumps and climbs the curtains, and does normal cat mischief. A happy cat! As she was getting better, she couldn't wait to start running. But it took some work, physiotherapy. One of her hind feet was lazy for a while, didn't function fully , and looked like the nerve in her leg was firing pain or some weird sensation, she licked her foot till raw. She had to be conned for 2 months. Physiotherapy helped a lot to help the nerve recover in her foot. Now her foot functions perfectly fine, she can use her foot, and spread her toes beautifully and she no longer feels the need to lick her foot. Seeing how well she has recovered, it was totally worth fighting for her, she is perfect. Looking back, it is upsetting how close we were to having her put down... Just thinking about it makes me cry every time... Makes me wonder how many animals who had a good chance of making a good recovery were put down and are no longer with us.

@@snowop3291 he died after 2-3 days after he was in a really bad condition we did took him to the doctor but he said he is not gonna survive and he died in the vet😔

Same happened with my kitte a big cat bbeat her 😔 at my terrace now she is not able to use her back legs idk wt should I do I am just taking her care as much as I can
