We are thrilled to offer you this very special, restored recording of Paramhansa Yogananda a wedding ceremony of a biracial couple. It was recorded in Los Angeles on January 23rd, 1931.
Special thanks to the University of South Carolina who gave us permission to use this special footage.
Paramhansa Yogananda is the author of "Autobiography of a Yogi".

That’s Sri Nerode. I spent time with he and his wife Agnes in Chicago many years ago. Sri was a lovely man. I didn’t know Yogananda he was before my time although I’ve heard many stories of him. It’s amazing to see this video!!

Seeing this makes me realize weddings are actually just a social construct. You cannot actually bind yourself to another human, only socially. Being a Hindu with all our complicated rituals, is still just to make a relationship socially acceptable.
