Fair score and review. The song was written for the movie Twilight. This was probably not the best song to showcase the band's talent. I actually saw their first show *as* Paramore in 2004 or 2005 and knew immediately they were going to be big. I think Haley was about 14 at the time. Same spidey sense I get with the Warning. Interestingly, Paramore's biggest album, Riot, was produced by David Bendeth, who also produced the Warning's Mayday EP and presumably their next release. If you react to Paramore again you should either do a live track or go back to their earliest albums like All We Know is Falling, or Riot, and look for some of those Warning parallels.
Interesting observation about The Warning. I have liked a handful of Paramore songs back in the day but the group never hooked me as hard as TW. @@joycesouza4804 Agreed! Haley is a Great singer with a Great voice, & she takes her singing Deadly serious! I saw a RU-vid video with Haley doing vocal scales exercises, & she can really belt it out! She's got Great Vocal range to boot! I never really got into the Twilight movie series, mainly bcuz to me it's a Romantic sci-fi Vampire//Mortal love story for tween - teen girls. That said I think Kristen Stewart is a Real Beauty! 😍 Cheers!
I had a HUGE crush on her growing up. Despite there being other rocker chicks such as Amy Lee, Avril Lavign, and others. I think what it was was in her music video for misery business I believe it was she had either a ninja turtle or a Thundercats tshirt on from the original 80's cartoons. That's what did it for me! I do like this song. Her voice is great and has great range.
Would love to hear you react to there liver performance of Let the flames begin. The pure energy and soul they put into the live performances of this song just gives me chills. Hayleys vocals are really top notch
Yaay, good ole teenage nostalgia haha! Her voice is really pretty, but yeah, their sound is a bit commercial sometimes, much like a lot of the (successful) scene at the time, I guess. One day I'm going to get enough extra money to make you suffer through some more 00's emo and pop/punk, gotta see what you think of Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance hahahah! 4:11 I think Paramore are very influenced in "nu metal" but still have their own kinda vibe with the 2000's. Again Hayley Williams just makes them different with her vocals
Probably one of my favourite Paramore songs, despite it being a very commercial song made as an OST for Twilight, which you can clearly hear throughout the song. Hayley is a fantastic singer that can cover a variety of different genres. This was from 2008, I believe and kinda kicked of Paramore’s success. Great review and reaction as always!
It was early 2000s, though I'd say they were more like Evanescence than NuMetal. I've always been impressed with the band's talent and Hayley's excellent, interesting voice, but I never really connected with them that much, not my cuppa I guess. Great reaction!
evanescence was partly influenced by nu metal and alt rock. But paramore was power pop/pop punk/alt rock so they actually didnt have that similar a genre profile
Not the best show of her voice here. She is godlike live for sure. There are some great paramour tracks that show off more than this particular one. I really like Monster for the drums in particular but their ballads I like the best.
So, here's the thing with Hayley. First, I disagree, I think her singing is superb. Beyond that, though, she is one of the best rock singers I've heard in a live setting. There is even a slightly viral video of a random dude meeting her while busking and she sings along. It's nearly perfect and they never met before. Her pitch is immaculate and even the high notes (particularly when she was younger) she's able to hit flawlessly. I know you can't necessarily gather that from a studio recording, but she really is a fantastic singer.
There are so many better songs from paramore, listen to her live and you will see the power of her voice, listen to the song father you will understand what I'm talking about
