It's common practice to always land without power, this was an emergency landing though because once the power quits theres nowhere to go but down

That was a terrible landing. When you have a motor out you don’t looks at it as an emergency landing, you just stay calm and treat it like any other. I think the stress of it got to him and botched the landing.

First, he was behind them. Second, if he WAS in front of them, they would notice earlier and stop. Hell, they stopped when he was behind them. If he was in front they definitely stop earlier

How the fuck do you get "stuck" on an escalator? Are you too fat to walk away? This was pretty standard landing, so a normal guy without mental problems wouldn't enjoy flying any less. You always have to be prepared to land if the motor stops working, just like it did here.

I guess your shoelaces could get stuck in the top/bottom, but it's not like that would pull your foot in. Worst case scenario you have to pull your foot out of the shoe and then cut the shoelace, because those things automatically stop if anything gets in them. Idk how you could get stuck.

Obviously an old comment but his landing space was 20-25ft long. That baseball area is probably more than an acre worth of land. He most definitely should have delayed the landing and hit the back portion of unused diamonds. He was way too danger close to the crowd and players.

@@BanditLeader I agree with a good landing in probably the best spot given all the factors. Shooting for the back would have increased the risk of hitting a tree. As it was coming in a tree surrounded area might have had lots of rotor making this landing sketchy. In the middle was safest.

FreddyScouser not a good landing.. he may have slid for the baseball effect.. but a good landing is fast, graceful to the feet like a bird and the chute down and out of the way fast. he should have gone further into the outfield. His chute could have snagged the fencing or a player.. source: 5 hours of flight

looks like he had no power and needed to land. spotting a clear field to land safely and just happened to be in a residential area. the previous footage doesn't show if he was in residential or over talk trees or a swamp. really doubt he was going for attention.

Eric B can you provide a source for these "rules"? maybe he was returning home . emergency landings make rules go out the window anyway.

Eric B to clarify I dony mean to be snide, but to my own personal knowledge the regulations only specify language in regard to congested areas. I'm still double checking wording.

They are regulated. Look up FAR Part 103. They aren't strictly regulated, but there are limitations on where you can fly (no Class A, B, C, or D airspace; no flying over congested areas; and no flying over areas of outdoor assembly). You are not allowed to drop anything from them if it can harm people or property. Ultralight aircraft (paramotors included) have speed restrictions, weight restrictions, and fuel capacity restrictions. Also, you can only fly them during the day (Visual Flight Rules only). As for flight prep, you definitely should plan your flight based on weather, TFRs, and fuel burn (just like about any other flight). The only thing that isn't really regulated is, ironically, the pilots as no license is required to fly them.

Paramotors aren't classified as ultralight .-.
