Dude...here I've been recommending a ring sling for this purpose, and you already have something GREAT for it! She is an absolute delight. Thank you for sharing her and your parenting tricks and tips.

I did this with my son but I used a strechy one so we could bend and move around better also helps in house cause if you lean forward they won’t get squeezed

Once again ingeniously simple. You said she's walking now. This is probably a silly idea but it's what suddenly came into my head when I heard she's walking. I'm fairly sure there's a pretty good chance if won't work either. But anyway. My crazy idea was what about somehow attaching one of those sturdier back pack carriers, or really I was thinking about a bicycle seat carrier. Kind of fix it so she's just a bit above your head or so. The problem would be balancing it right so you guys didn't tip over. Just an idea there.
@ParalyzedLiving
@ParalyzedLiving 4 года назад
Nirrrina thanks! Funny thing is I already experimented with a bicycle seat carrier before coming up with this. It’s way easier to transport and use on the fly. She’s pretty well trained to sit on my lap. We go on regular “walks” together so she’s no stranger to taking rides. Having her strapped in also keeps her from jumping off and running away. Lol

Good idea! Last time l saw my friends the 2 year old sweety wanted to drive on my legs with my. I put the belt l bought for this, a normal one. This l made soft with a long foam - filled rectangled peace of cloth on which there were two push - bottons, coming from children's protecting - materials for belts in cars! You can buy them in many different colurs. Costs ab. 10 bucks. Very less. worked fine. But yours is made brighter and that l like more. I only couldn't use it cause of my disabled frozen shoulders. Depending on how well the shoulders work yours is a bit better, more confidence! Be blessed! Go on, please! You do fine! I'm so thankful!

Sweet man. Yeah, our lil Payton has been on her feet for a bit now and walking assisted. I always did the switch off hand hold carting her around on my lap. No way would she sit still upon letting go of her lol, plus her days are numbered as well crawling. Good stuff dude.

Glad it helps! As she’s gotten bigger, I’ve started using a basic gait belt instead since it’s more reliable than Velcro. I just wrap it around the back of the chair and buckle it in front of her. 👍🏼

never needed a strap to carry my niece when she was a toddler as long as she had an armrest to hold on to. she learned to hold on quite quickly. I have that same chair or one like it and it came with armrest that could be set to different heights, just teach her to hold on, and she'll get the idea ...

Do you have any problems with her sliding down while strapped in on your lap?
@ParalyzedLiving
@ParalyzedLiving 4 года назад
Joe R it hasn’t been a major issue. If she’s slouching at all I just pull her back up. She’s used to using this so I guess she’s adapted too.

EXCELLENT!! I had considerable trouble when my son and daughter were each that age (about). I didn't understand why they didn't get it that it was their responsibility to sit up and not fall over, LOL! Of course, they had no trouble when they got bigger and accepted their responsibilities. Being 33 and 28 now, there is no problem. Is this the child that you were able to adopt? When was this event relative to this video? I'm going to search through the other vid's to see if I can find it.

What kind of sewing machine did you use to add to your calf strap? I'm thinking it would have to be pretty heavy duty.
@ParalyzedLiving
@ParalyzedLiving 4 года назад
Roberta Palmer NuMotion, my equipment provider actually stitched on the extended nylon and Velcro years ago to extend the calf strap so I’m not sure. I never ended up using it for its original purpose though because the foot plate I use eliminates the need for one.

Have you looked into various versions of baby carriers? Ergobaby, Manduca or others with buckets, or a ring sling etc.

Nina Sørum not at this point since she’s gotten so big. She’s now fully mobile and wants to roam on her own! Yikes 😬lol
@NinaS___
@NinaS___ 4 года назад
Paralyzed Living I see, and that’s great! How old is she now? I travelled with my son when he was a toddler, old enough to walk quite a lot, but still got tired or bored, and sometimes wanted to be carried. Also when I needed to keep him in check, like in airports or busy city streets. I loved to have the ring sling for those occasions, easy up and easy to put him down when it was OK for him to wander around himself. :)
@ParalyzedLiving

Nina Sørum shes pushing 20 months and all about her independence. Luckily my wife can grab her is she’s being particularly independent. She still does pretty well on dads lap though...until she see something she wants. 😂
