The Korean market is different from the US. Only a handful of actors can make living doing films only. They routinely move back and forth from TV to films and vice versa.

@@HKim0072 It's the same in western movie industry too though. Even the biggest stars move back and forth (especially on cable tv for e.g Meryl Streep has starred in HBO shows). The point OP is trying to make is before this, the likes of Park So Dam and Choi Woo Shik weren't considered powerhouse in the acting department.

@@darkjedi7 Once Upon a Time ain't winning it. It's only 1917 and Parasite now. Why? Because PGA and SAGs are the best precursor to the Best Picture category. If you don't win either of these your chances to win at the Oscar is slim to none. 1917 took PGA, Parasite took SAGs. Parasite is heavily favoured rn because Actor's guild represent the biggest number in AMPAS and BP is voted by not just PGA members but also by the full AMPAS as a whole. So it has a better chance to win.

I can’t get enough of this 2:28 clip. These are the people I’ve been watching on my iPad since ages....seeing them get this recognition....seeing the Korean entertainment industry getting this appreciation from Hollywood makes me feel so freaking emotional ! I can’t even begin to tell how proud I’m of them. I cannot agree more with the director when he said in the golden globes acceptance speech....once you get over the idea of reading subtitles, you’ll actually see the vast potential of other types of cinema. These guys better get the Oscar.....they truly and deeply deserve it. Korean entertainment industry is one of the best in the world....super stoked for them 🥺💖 I could see the sheer joy in the room once their name was announced....I’m not even a Korean and I’m beaming with pride 🥺🇰🇷

Honestly I’ve never been this excited or emotional to see a cast receive an award at the SAG! 😂😂😂 That’s what this movie has done to me, and I am rooting for them to take home many awards at the Oscars including the grand prize, Best Picture! He's truly one of my favourite Korean actors. I would recommend people watch him in A Taxi Driver, Memories of Murder and The Attorney. They're all available online with English subtitles. Great movies.

The dad was main lead in memories of murder? I haven't watch this. OMG .a few days ago my teacher said that he watched a Korean movie.then I asked what was that though I thought it would be parasite ..but it was memories of murder.and he was praising about this and also gave us the spoiler. And he will watch parasite.i was so happy cz in my country there aren't many kdrama or kmovie fan .most of them are kpop fan.i told about this movie to my friends over and over but they didn't care.and the teacher was praising about that which made my day literally.now I've to watch all the movie of this actor.

Definitely the best choice in SAG Awards history. Hopefully, Bong Joon-Ho wins the best foreign-language film just like the golden globes this time at the Oscars 2/9/2020.

International film is already a lock. Higher chances in editing and screenplay. A great chance for best picture and prod design. An okay chance for director as sam Mendes is looking like a lock for best director

You know to the represented in film, this seems like “Oh it’s just another cast that did great, congratulations.” But to me, as an Asian (and I hope everyone feels this way), this is a MILESTONE. In Hollywood’s history, Asians were underrepresented, and whitewashing and yellow face was very strong-a white woman even won an Oscar for playing an Asian character. All of a sudden a group of people, who LOOK like me, US ASIANS, were chosen to win over the others-this year’s other best cast nominees were all white. It’s such a huge thing. I hope I’m not alone in this. It feels massive that Parasite won best cast (Awkwafina also won a Golden Globe, making her the first Asian actress to win Best Actress for a Comedy/Musical). I’m happy that after Crazy Rich Asians, the doors for Asian representation has been unlocked and fully open. We’re keeping them open.

The reason why I watch Parasite and like it, that's because the cast! Especially Lee Sun Kyun. I always love his Korean drama. He is talented actor, who have charisma and it's amazing! Seriously, when I know he play the role in Parasite. I'm tottally so excited!! 🙌 Now he deserved it. 😄👊

Yoon paid tribute to Martin Scorsese for like his entire acceptance speech during the Oscars lol. What a humble guy & class act. Congratulation to "Parasite" on it's Best Picture win. Definitely well-deserved here for a change. I will party until morning. With you on that one lol. 🍾🥂
