I had a pediatrician like Dr. Kapoor, except he had hair. Nothing rattled that guy. Or made him smile. He was great. I could've come in with my head in my lap and he'd have been like, "We must reattach it. Try to be more careful."
"Did I hurt my mom?" "No, you saved her life! :)" I like that little interaction. It tells the girl that everyone makes mistakes, and sometimes we get *really* unlucky with the repercussions, but there's nothing you can do about that. What you can do is own up to any mistakes and do your best to set things right.
I'm jewish. It seems like the family are conservative. The way they're dressed isn't super orthodox and the daughter is comfortable talking to the male doctor. Also, it can be hard, especially for young children to keep kosher. Especially when seeing their friends eat those foods.
@@seandavila835 Absolutely, perhaps even very, er, *conservative* Conservative as the mother is not wearing a wig. Individual families can vary widely in strictness of observance -- as in any faith.
Also those kind of parasites are VERY HARD to get from Hotdogs since that meat is heavely controlled by sanity, usually you find from hunters that eat wild pigs.
I love the Indian doctor, I have seen him in so many older Indian films and I swear the man does not age. It is odd to me seeing him speaking English on a medical drama.
As someone who almost lost a finger that's almost exactly how I acted, at first since I cut it in the dark I was very calm very rational until I walked into the light and saw how bad it was I locked up at that point and just kept repeating I don't wanna die, I was 8-10 at the time
At 1:08 “Okay, let’s get her back on her feet.” No, you need to do a post-fall injury assessment before moving the patient - or go back to medical school and start your career over.
A hotdog contains pork meat, which is against Kosher. Pork flesh is notorious for parasites if not cooked properly. So basically daughter ate an improperly cooked hotdog and the egg of the tapeworm was near the surface of her mouth. So when she kissed her mother ,if done in the both sides of the face greeting, would have greater exposure, especially if the mother was eating or drinking at the time. I’ve seen some families where the mother kisses her kids on the mouth regardless of gender. If that was the case then the risk is even higher.
I don't get it. The daughter ate a hotdog, so her mother got a parasite? How does that work? Besides, hotdogs sold at major ballparks do not have tapeworms.
@@toomanyaccounts Tapeworms are not incredibly rare XD any pet owner can contract them if not careful. if they have a dog or cat going through de-worming for said tapeworms and aren't careful during the shedding process, the owners could also become infected. I had a friend who got a new puppy that was infested with tapeworms and both his daughters had to be treated as well because the dog was shedding them and they can't into contact. It happens more often then you realize. Tapeworms are fairly common here in the US, so it's why its important to he mindful of proper cooking and keeps g your pets up to date with wormers and such
Lol Neurocysticercosis would have shown up on the CT scan... Also the ascending paralysis is more so a Guillian Barre Syndrome, something that you could get from a campylobacter jejuni infection.
Automatically doing a CT scan due to a bump alone is ridiculous. We know nothing about loss of consciousness or other symptoms when she walks in and they just say do a CT?!
I fell off the swing and it hit a side of my head. I went to the hospital after 3 days bc the pain would not stop, i did not pass out and they did a ct scan anyway. Hitting your head is a pretty serious matter, and that man said his wife passed out and was bleeding.
I HATE the “get her back on her feet”! Maybe it means something different to medical people but you should just move the person to the bed. I fainted in an urgent care once and the dr stand the same thing i wasn’t fully conscious yet.
@@toomanyaccounts Not necessarily, some apartment buildings in NYC on Saturday have the elevator stop on every floor so they “technically” didn’t touch the button to activate their floor. Just leaving lights on or the TVs in the house on different channels technically doesn’t violate the sabbath as far as I know. The Jewish people love the loopholes like Catholics do during lent. 🤷🏼♂️
@@justincase7848 she did when she grabbed the doctor. It also depends on the sect, and how strict. Obviously she has a tendency to also break Sabbath rules.
@@justincase7848 Yup. I have multiple friends who practice different levels of Judaism. One’s parents were kids in the Hasidic community so while they are very strict about following certain practices (sleeping outside during Sukkot, washing new utensils in the Mikvah) they work very hard at breaking what they consider to be toxic family practices that they personally didn’t agree with.
I hate how when any show has a Jewish character they have to be orthodox and keep kosher and the sabbath. Most Jewish people don’t, shows like this are just using stereotypical situation and looks to portray Jewish characters without even doing any research.
@V, The Info Dealer based on the fact that I’m Jewish and that any show you watch pretty much doesn’t have a Jewish character or the person is orthodox and like escaped from the “ cult” that they were in to become a doctor or something.
As someone who is religious myself I find that a lot of the press that we do get and representation in the media is mostly about the people who left a ultra orthodox life and I think that this clip in particular is a great idea of representation because the actual TV shows like sitcoms that supposedly has “ Jewish representation“ is about those who are completely unaffiliated and only keep Hanukkah so from what I gathered I understand that you are Jewish I am just giving some light into how I feel with the supposed community that is being represented that feels like we’re not getting anything
on top of that this feels like an accurate representation of what it feels like to have to go to the emergency room on Sabbath that you don’t know what you can and cannot do because these are not laws that God or the rabbis gave us
Bcs if they dont theyre just a normal boring character, its unnecessary to label a normal character. Maybe youd prefer for every extreme religious character theres a doctor/medical staff with the same group of religion that showed them the less extreme way...
Not making a joke, but i'm pretty sure that Hebrew national hotsdogs are kosher. Although i'm not jewish, i've always enjoyed these hot dogs. I'm not really comfortable with hot dogs unless they are made properly. I think a lot of people in America who are Jewish. They probably enjoy a beef hot dog that I would imagine❤
@@toomanyaccounts Yes, but this kind of cases with tapeworms are rare. Usually patients presents the usual stomach pains, diarrhea and weight loss long before neurological symptons
My aunt fell stepping off the curb. She hit her head passed out with lots of bleeding. They kept her overnight saying everything looked good. The thing is she started having vertigo upon returning home. She can't multitask anymore, her short term memory is bad and have really bad headaches. They did all sorts of test but said they can't find anything. Brain injury is still not being understood.
It does unless you feel like killing your patient…head injuries should always be checked with a CT it’s too easy to miss something life threatening, even a simple bump could cause a bleed that could kill them
It’s called Shabbos and they wouldn’t bring their daughter to the hospital if it’s a Shobbos. You are allowed to break Shobbos if it’s life threatening but only as little as possible. They would never bring the girl. Just 30 seconds in and I already can’t stand it. Also what is that Shabbos dress? That is such ugly every day wear. Shobbos cloths are fancy, especially if you’re going to shul.
@@toomanyaccounts if the mother is having a baby on Shobbos, then only she will go on the ambulance and the father will walk to the hospital. Maybe there are some exceptions, but the daughter certainly wouldn’t have come.

How exactly? The Star of David is the religious symbol of Judaism. Heck, it's on the flag of Israel. It's no different from Christians wearing shirts with the Crucifix on it. Or if someone wears a shirt with a crescent moon on it.
Where are you getting this information from? The girl is dressed just fine. It's not unorthodox to dress with some styles and five pointed stars. I'm jewish but I'm not orthodox and as far as I know as long as the girl wears a skirt and black and white clothes its fine.
@@TheMegaultrachickendo you mind if I ask: why black and white clothes? Is it just for girls or does it also apply to boys? And does that mean they can't wear other colors with the black and white?
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl She does not have to wear just black and white. Any colors are fine, as long as they are not too loud, such as red. Black is elegant so is usually worn for special occasions.
What are the odds that the one time the daughter breaks from eating kosher foods to have a hot dog results in her getting a tapeworm that she then passes to her mother? Very, VERY low! 🤣
@@toomanyaccounts ok. I guess New York is different. If you don’t isolate your community then I can see how kids would want to be like others. She’s probably modern orthodox, so she doesn’t take it as idk the word for it as more religious poeple
@@cookiediangelo8511 New York City has entire neighborhoods full of Orthodox and that even have their own religious police force that has vests, police cars etc. There are even entire towns in New York state run as Orthodox only communities with once again there own religious police force. Outside of Israel the majority of Orthodox in the world live in New York City and New York state
@@toomanyaccounts haha I’m part of the orthadox community in Baltimore. I’m very used to all this. We have our own ambulances, grocery stores, sort of police I guess but it’s not as bad here as New York. There are also major Jewish communities in New Jersey, Florida, California, tarronto, all over the place. We have our own version of everything and kind of stay in our bubble. I’m just saying, it’s ingrained in you to keep Shobbos and kosher. It’s a huge deal not to. I’m just wondering how she could so casually watch tv on Shabbos while her mother is dying. Also her Shobbos clothes are ugly.
@@cookiediangelo8511 I'm jewish and I always use electricity on the sabbath. I wasn't raised that strictly but I do follow some rules. I'm sorry, life's too short to not watch tv on Saturday.
