I listened to the interview last year and again today, during this time I tried to learn from my kids listen and apply the three E, it’s very challenging sometimes but I’m glad that we can have those interviews as a reminder. I just want to add that sometimes parents need more hugs than their kids. Thank you. you’re doing a great job. Both of you.

Hello, I am a father of a 5 month old daughter. This is a very helpful process - explain, explore, empower. Our children are the future. This is an important conversation for all people who are role models to children. May we be more conscious role models to our children, for our world to be a better place. Thank you 🙏🏼

I just discovered this. I'm a mother of two, my husband is deployed currently. An issue that comes to mind with my toddler (2 yo) will fight me when I'm just trying to change his diaper. I usually try to talk it out, explain that I need to get the poop off his butt. It doesn't work. He'll understand directions in other areas but refuse to listen in this moment. He used to help me and hand me a diaper but now he runs and tells me "No." Thank you for this information. I can't wait to start using these methods and hopefully it helps.

Thanks for sharing your stories! You have given us parents hope to improve our parenting strategies and becoming the humane person we ought to be to our kids, which would be the example/role model they could emulate!

Hey Kerwin, Do you have some stuff on blending families - post divorce and separation and now coming into the new family dynamics...parenting your own and your bonus children?
@KerwinRaeSydney
@KerwinRaeSydney 4 года назад
I don't currently Katleyn, I only share my experiences. Co-parenting is hard work but easy when your focus on the most important person in your life, your child ❤

😭😭😭 So I revisited this and it's not working with my 16yo son. When we get to the third step, discussing possible paths to the outcome, it's always the same... "I want to do what I want, come and go as I please and I'm not following your rules." I might add that they are simple, fundamental and not harsh. When we reply, "That's not going to work for the rest of the family" he says, "I don't care". And every response from him thereafter in relation to our family's values, respect or expectations is simply "I don't care". And what normally follows is a spray of verbal abuse, "you're an arse ( fkg C*, prick, etc)" and then, "now leave me alone and fk off". His little 10 yo brother is watching...

show him there's a consequence of action and if escalated to no respect means time for him to work for your love and care. Do not make him dinner and do not show any rewards and announce if this continues someone with authority (father figure will get involved) usually some kids will feel shame if the problem gets out of the house.
