Welcome! I'm Lori, and I founded Teach Through Love because I'm passionate about helping adults resolve daily conflicts and nurture children's development by using conscious communication.
Parents, teachers, and caregivers are the most influential people in a child's life. My Conscious Parenting Courses and Communication Cards have helped thousands of parents and professionals break free of reactive patterns and unconscious beliefs about "discipline" that keep them stuck in negative cycles with kids.
I want to help adults increase cooperation and connection by communicating in ways that help kids feel heard and capable of change. We can help them reach their full potential and learn to solve conflicts and collaborate with others when we shift how we respond to their needs and feelings.

I was a kid not too long ago(I'm 22) and I really appreciated it when my mother disciplined me in a calm and collected way. Not just because she wasn't yelling but because I felt I was being heard. Truly, kids love feeling respected by their parents and this can happen without the parents losing their authority.

Love reading this!! Feeling heard is something I hope more of your generation will also experience! Thanks for commenting, Kabo!

i hear you and agree. i get anrgy because i feel helpless to solve the situation any other way. when i get anrgy i feel horrible during and afterwards, but when i have been calm and collected enough to wait it out and comunicate, it feel like i totally aced being a dad. and the connection feels so strong it's wonderful. i want to learn more about this and shift the balance because parenting right now feels like a constant stream of discipline with less and less fun moments.

Nothing beats being kind and calm in tense situation because you have more control over the situation and the kids see your example. They see that you aren't letting emotions overtake you and they respect you more over time.

I sincerely appreciate the knowledge you share. I've been watching many videos since I found your channel recently. I've just become a guardian for a neglected 12 year old niece. I've worked on my emotional and spiritual health over the years but now recognizing that I need to coach/model/teach a child about their emotional development, it's a whole new ball of wax. I so appreciate you and your channel!!

Great tips Lori. My only problem is the language that I use, I mean the framing of words. Some times, I feel I did great with using a language that my kids understand and at times I fall short of words. Since English is not my mother tongue I struggle a lot in framing my words. Can you also please give us examples of sentences to use in different contexts/situations with kids? That would be really helpful. Thank you.

My biggest take away is taking time to acknowledge the feeling or emotion, before responding, rather reacting to a comment or behavior I don't like & calmly addressing it later after we've both cooled down.

Great info. Helpfulness and to the point! Thanks. God bless. I learned not to rush into punishment. Actually my 10 year old said he hated us because someone took candy from his room. I rushed to say he's ungrateful for all the things we buy him. I should have understood what's behind his claim and expressed Empathy

Awesome perspectives! I just finished up a Parenting Series on my channel that I hope inspires & encourages parents to dominate parenting, just like this video has. I hope our videos encourage parents to be proactive! Just subscribed to you too.

Do you have a video on how to get past my own huge ego? A lot of times I know I should reframe what I'm about to spew out, but my pride stops me.
