Researchers at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland want to find out whether parents are telling children who were conceived thanks to an egg, sperm or embryo donor. In 2024, the first 50 to 70 donor-conceived children turn 18 and can request official information about their biological donor parent. Advantages include health information and a sense of identity. Researchers want to inform future counselling. Professor Cindy Farquhar is leading the research team.
