Because the school system is so screwed up that teachers won't teach students that they must never judge based on looks. Another line to add in the tap! Edit: Just a joke, but the school system is really screwed up. They should teach important stuff like taxes, renting a house, etc

So many kids fall into depression over numbers that can’t and won’t help them in the long run. They sit at a desk for 8 hours 5 days a week for just to learn about topics they most likely will never remember or bring up ever again. School is preparation for a desk job, to sit and listen to instructions then carry them out, this is what school prepares us for. Not how to live as an adult or how to make informed decisions but rather to sit at a desk and type papers.

All due to the Cold War with Russia. The students were forced to learn more complicated math and science that was taught at college. They moved it to high school and believed by doing so they could increase the number of scientists to help them against Russia

The fundamental concept is right but not quite. Culture serves to reason with your own head ... For example, if a person makes a law that is absolutely wrong if you do not have the necessary culture to validly oppose the law, this will perhaps be accepted ... So a little and a little! :)

Well for me i learned a lot in every class that i took, but my grades in every class weren't consistent. For instance senior year i had a B grade or higher consistently for math (college algebra/finite) all year long. My AP Psychology class however which i learned a ton of interesting things and was over all more interesting than math xD always had a horrible grade, mainly due to homework assignments that were required. assignments that were picked out of the book and had hardly anything to do with what we actually were taught in class by the teacher.

I agree. I’m positive him saying “don’t stay in school” isn’t about the kids, it’s about the pointless things that are taught. What’s the point of teaching kids about some of this stuff if they’re never gonna use it in the real world? Rather than wasting everyone’s time, kids should also be taught about real world stuff. Laws, taxes, first aide, health and safety, etcetera. By the way, your English is much better than most who actually have it as their first language.

As someone who's in school right now, this is true. Why do we ALL learn those complicated math problems? 1+1, 2x6, 10:2, whatever, sure that's fine. But what the guy said in the video for example... I'm never going to use that after I graduate unless I get a job that involves math, which I know I won't, so it's useless for them to teach ALL of us that.

My school treats me like I'm stupid. I'm very dyslexic and can not read and write on level. But I'm very good at math and I'm grade level ahead. Because of my dyslexia they won't let me take advanced math bc I have an IEP (individual education plan) but that not individual! Just bc I can barely read and write to a 5th grade level doesn't mean I can't do math! But I'm in special ed math anyway! I literally sit there and work ahead in the textbook all day. Half way threw the 2nd quarter I had finish the whole book, that was for the whole year, and I just kinda sleep or draw in class. And my teacher yelled at be for being lazy but then I scored 100 on exam. And at first she thought I cheated! But in English I'm failing and getting called lazy even tho I try hard and study.

In Ireland, two years before you graduate secondary school and go on to collage, there is a year in school called Transition Year or T.Y. for short. In some schools it's optional and you can move straight into 5th year but in some schools you have to do it. You take a year to do work experience and other things with you're school (it's different for all schools). You still take some classes but you definitely don't do as much work as other years. I'm pretty sure we also have a business class where you learn about taxes and stuff but I'm not sure. My sister did it last year and has definitely benefited from it.

I just taken my GCSEs (England) and I've realised why I had so much trouble in my maths exam This is because despite the exams starting to gear towards the students need to use logic, the education hasn't. When we take classes, I was always thinking I needed to memorise this, or memorise that. Bu the exam was different, such as the sweet question, we just had to think a little. Or the cone question? I just had to change it into a fraction rather than a number. By the stress and education made us gear towards the side of memorisation so much, we couldn't gear our minds in the direction of logical thinking making the exam much more difficult than we make it out to be. This is because of the incompatibility of the current education and the style of the exams that's are. Starting to change.

Right. My husband was in foster care and had nobody. Also, the video says this and it is a REALLY good point. “The parents are the problem not the children, so teach the kids to parent that’s the problem solved then!” How are the parents supposed to teach these things when they themselves were not taught these things? They learned by experience and that does not give them the proper way to teach it to somebody else.
