EL MONTE, CALIFORNIA - A young male driver was taken to the hospital after hitting and crashing into a car causing it to roll over. The car landed on the tires possibly ejecting a male passenger. The female driver of the car was trapped and was freed by firefighters using the Jaws of Life. She was transported to a hospital in serious condition. The male passenger can be seen with CPR in progress administered by paramedics. The passenger did die at the scene. The driver of the truck that caused the crash will have his DUI investigation finished at the hospital per a sergeant at the scene. He did say this is an alcohol related crash and that's how it will be investigated. A very emotional scene played out when the parents of the driver being investigated for DUI showed to the scene.

I was the "nosey asshole" at a party who didnt let my drunk friend leave. No one said a thing until I spoke up, then everyone stopped him. Don't be afraid to hurt some feelings to save a life. My friend may have made it back safely, but he also could have destroyed lives. Dont ever be afraid to grab some keys and be the "mean friend"

I can't remember what class I was in (health maybe?) but back in high school we had to go on a field trip to the morgue, didn't get to see anything except the equipment but it was very sobering. We later had to view pictures of the aftermath of accidents with injuries and fatalities caused by people guilty of dui. This was before the days of internet. Anyone found guilty of dui needs to actually watch an autopsy and sit though hours of videos of dui accidents, witness testimonies, the victim's families statements, whatever can be done to make people understand "just a few" drinks can be deadly and change lives forever.

I've heard that it might have something to do with the drunk driver being more or less 'relaxed' or 'unaware' at the moment of impact.....if he or she DOESN'T see it coming. The sober driver .....if THEY see it about to happen, will naturally tend to tense up. If that makes sense. An example would be like something I saw about NASCAR drivers who were about to hit the wall or maybe another car. They're trained to let go of the steering wheel & NOT try to keep a tight grip on the thing. THE wheel is likely to spin so violently, that it will snap there wrists or break their arms. Natural instinct would have most of us grip the steering wheel tightly.
@moonflowerlongoria6204

When you tense up, your injuries tend to be much worse. There were several patients that I took care of that didn't make it, and the sounds of those screams run straight through my body like ice. The worst is those of the mothers and the agony the father was showing. Never for the rest of my life will I forget the screams of absolute agony, heartache, despair and pain. If you are even thinking about going out and drinking, leave the car at home, take an Uber. I will guarantee that it will without a question be cheaper, and safer, than driving drunk. If you are too drunk to drive, call an Uber, even if your car gets towed, its still cheaper. I have so little strength in my left hand, I can't press down on NAIL CLIPPERS to clip the nails on my right hand. I was in my mid to late twenties when I went to a party and a friend of mine had drank to much... I mean way to much. He wanted to leave and I grabbed his keys and ran off into the night. He drove a big lifted pick up truck and was parked in the driveway blocking numerous peoples cars in. I lived right down the street so I ended up passing out in some neighbors front yard bushes. Well people came to my house looking for me and broke in trying to see if I was home passed out with his keys. A lot of people were pissed the next day when I finally returned with my friends keys. Yeah... everyone was pissed off at me but no one died that night.

My mama heart exploded and shattered hearing the anguish in that mama's screams. My mind went instantly to my daughters and I couldn't breathe JUST THINKING how I'd be if that was one of them and I was that mama. Nothing can heal that hurt. There's no words for that pain so deep your insides literally feel they've been ripped out. Senseless. Preventable. Dumb decision that led to an innocent life wiped out. I have no pity for the driver who did this. I hope he hears that woman's screams and cries every second of his life that he gets to live. Because he took a life that no longer gets to. ⚖ I pray justice was served ⚖. Edit: I didn't want to admit this but I hit a pedestrian 3yrs ago. She died. I was not drinking. I was not high. I was not distracted. She was a homeless woman who decided to cross the street with her Target shopping cart in the middle of a high-speed road. She came out of nowhere (witnesses at the scene testified to the same...no one saw her until the impact) and I remember, clearly to this day, the moment of impact and my gasp at the weight her body created landing on my windshield immediately cracking it and the airbags deploying. My car locked on impact and I remember thinking WTF just happened? I immediately unbuckled my seat belt and tried to exit the driver's side door but couldn't. With adrenaline running, I hopped to the passenger side and got out instantly seeing this tiny woman who was now in the middle emergency lane twisted in unnatural positions and splayed out with glass all over and that damn basket on its side. Everything she must've owned was spewed out all around her. Idk how long I was standing there shaking and crying looking at what I'd just done before a witness came and kindly told me to stop looking and turn away from it. Everything else is a blur with several moments embedded in my memory but I wanted to know her name. Debbie. Where they were taking her, how she was doing. If you've never been thru this....the emotions that hit you are indescribable. SFT passed. Blood draw on scene zero. Witnesses testimonies corroborated. Measured lines at scene showed under speed limit. I was found not at fault and zero liability. I cried nonstop for weeks over the fact I hit and hurt a human being. The officer taking me home said, when I asked if they knew how she was doing, "I don't know but don't worry about it too much. SHE WAS JUST A HOMELESS PERSON ANYWAY." I started bawling and said that she was still a person to which he shrugged and didn't reply. I want to say I went to see her and sent her flowers and check in on her and let her know I was so sorry. But I never got the chance. She died. Alone with no family to claim her. I have never and will never forget her and the pain I felt knowing I injured someone and then knowing I killed someone. I wasn't smiling. I wasn't laughing or chatting cheerfully with anyone. My teeth chattered. My legs were wobbly. I was crying to the point of having to wait until I could speak understandably to the officers. This kid here......his facade and composure I'm not understanding. I'm still shook and upset. I understand everyone deals with trauma differently but his attitude is one a spectator at a show. Not one of a person who just killed someone and that body in his line of sight. May the soul who passed and Debbie rest in peace. I'm so sorry 😭.

Traci - statistically speaking, SoCal roads are not anymore dangerous than those in, for example, Michigan or Tennessee. You need to factor in accidents per 100,000 drivers, therefore SoCal roads are actually safer when you factor in the amount of cars "per capita". Your views become skewed when you watch a lot of these L.A. stringer channels. Same goes for fatal shark attacks - everybody automatically thinks of Australia because of news coverage, but I bet most people have never heard of Port St Johns (RSA) with its 100% shark attack fatality rate.

I live near Salt Lake City and have a friend who listens to the police scanner. There are accidents just like this one, some dui and some not, that happen every day here. I grew up in Norwalk (SoCal area) and was surprised that Utah drivers are much worse than L.A. drivers! Now that we have snow and ice on the ground accidents like this one, and worse, will happen more frequently until people start remembering how to drive in the winter. 🙄 We had a high speed chase on Saturday that was called off because the idiot was hitting 100+ mph on the residential streets! A few minutes later we had another one in the town I live in, 35 miles west of SLC, but I don't know how that chase ended. I think it seems like these accidents happen only in L.A. because they have the guys out on the streets filming them. I know if we had a team here in SLC people would be extremely surprised at the amount of accidents and fatalities we have like the one in this video. And, yes, we have our fair share of alcohol DUI's and idiots on meth and heroin who get behind the wheel and wind up murdering other innocent drivers by wiping them out in accidents. It's makes me angry and sad.

I'm from Chicago and visited Southern California several years ago. It was beautiful and the people were very laid back....until they got behind the wheel! I couldn't believe how fast and aggresive the drivers were! That was before the cellphone era so I can only imagine how bad it might be compared to then! Very nice people....

Look at the actual hard numbers compiled by CHP; cities with the worst DUI fatality rates in California are not in the SoCal area but rather in the boondocks like Hemet, Hesperia, Bakersfield, etc. Statistics don't lie.

What I understood from the scene of the parents is that they believed that their son was injured and when they found out that someone had died was when the lady cried out in despair, and at the end she looks relaxed when she discovers that her son was alive on a stretcher to the hospital, the very son of a bitch also becoming the victim of the accident he caused.
