You know, I’m always so confused about the people who claim stories are fake, cause like… if a story is fake and you respond to it kindly and offering advice or support, you’ll have lost nothing, but if you respond by claiming a story is fake and ridiculing the OP and the story turns out to not be fake? You’ll have just made the situation worse.
I always try to remember that as complex and full of bullshit as this world is, as long as the story in question doesn’t contain outright magic, it’s entirely possible that it actually happened TO SOMEONE, even if it didn’t actually happen to the person that posted it… and moreover, it’s entirely possible it or something like it will happen again… so any advice or well wishes left are waiting in the ether for a person that actually needs them.

Yeah thought so too, maybe because I’ve experienced so much and complex family situations especially around inheritance. My family was the black sheep out of the entirety of 10 families from both my grandparents side, so we were extremely poor for the first 35 years of my parents life, but we were hardworking and lucky with our investments, now the 2nd most wealthiest out of the 10, the richest and us are the best of the friends for all 3 generations, my parents, me and the grandchildren. The less wealthy ones are quite jealous and take sly jabs by saying how poor we were before and should help the needy asking for handouts and how much they helped us before, they didn’t help much and always exaggerate their contributions

Money does horrible things to family once someone dies. My mothers side of the family didn’t leave her kids, us anything. It’s been 14 years. I have long ago considered them nothing to me. I don’t even want their surname if I ever change my name.
There is no possible way to tell if stories are real or fake, or if theyre exadurated beyond belief. All I can say is to just enjoy yourself. If it's fake, how does that hurt you? Honestly, people need go learn how to just have fun.
I remember learning of my grandmother on my dad’s side apparently doing something like that to my dad sometime around when he was getting married or just got married to my mom. I never got the full story but from what I’ve learned is that she had no intention of paying it and this caused a wedge to immediately form in there relationship. Even now my mom still waits to see if she’ll do something like this again, and my dad is mad that my mom doesn’t ever want to go over there because of this.
