yea i scrolled down the comments and saw yours and I thought to myself nah how can she top the creppy balding pedo after the mom segment of the vid I wanted to throw up
@@recreationalelmersglue6053 yeah, true, but at the end of the day, they still lose money, insignificant as it is. Also if you were rich, it would still suck to lose 10k, which could have been used for merch making, and making the content """""""better""""""" for the kids. Its a small victory, but a victory nonetheless!
"He's my hero. And my best friend." That... that shattered my brick of a heart. That poor kid is clearly pretty lonely, and the idea that they found a "friend" in Jake Paul of all things is really upsetting.
Legit very sad , you can tell these kids just need someone and the only one they have is a shitty youtuber. What I found to be extremely sad was the girl who was sitting on her bed saying Jake was like her dearest person while having a picture of both her parents in the back . That must be like a sla in the face
Shane Dawson wishes he could make an exposé of this caliber. I was genuinely stunned at this guy's points and supporting evidence in this video. Very, very well done.
The Paul family's mother is easily one of the most...disturbing, creepy people I've ever had the displeasure of looking at. Her demeanor, her facial expressions, her voice, her eyes. Everything about that woman just creeps me the fuck out on a level I can't describe. I hesitate to call her disgusting, but from a certain perspective, I guess she is.
i dont know, maybe you need to get out more. theres way creepier people out in the world for real. shes a bit outrageous but hardly the most disturbing out there. c'mon...
the look she gives his mum at the end sums it up... that poor girl, she's sixteen and already seems like she's by far the most mature person in that family
All the screaming and crying babies in this video, a sound evolutionarily designed to cause anxiety, are less physiologically stress-inducing than the clips of Jake Paul doing basically anything. Lmao etc
Makes me so sad that instead of growing up with Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, or even Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network, they get Jake Paul and the Internet uncensored and all.
You guys helped me help my dad: he shared a traumatic memory about promising not to ask his mom for anything at a toy store (age 5-7ish) and begging and crying for stuff anyway. He thought this was him being horrible and materialistic even though he was literally a child, and the fact this video had taught me about pester power and predatory advertising and how vulnerable kids brains are did EVERYTHING to change that. Thank you.
You know, I'm really sick of all the "JAKE PAUL EXPOSED" videos that have been done over and over again, but this one was something else. You brought up a lot of great points nobody has talked about in depth yet. I knew his content was fucked up, but I didn't realize it was this bad. Great video.
Yeah I kinda groaned when I first saw the thumbnail of this video, but Nerd City is one of my favorite channels so I had to watch it and holy crap it was so good and way more than just rehashing the same talking points of everyone else.
Because commentary channels are fucking shit. Watching one of their videos is the equivalent of watching paint drying, you learn nothing but the obvious.
How could you not know these points though? Jake Paul is a money hungry piece of shit and will do anything for money. Every time he says merch he means give me money.
1. Big fan 2. You never answered my question from the "cigarettes" video. 3. Best video this year, unless we get Content Cop from iDubbz that actually about Jeg Pool this time.
Damn the jake Paul will die part REALLY highlights that kids just don’t comprehend these videos and how messed up it is to plant everything he does into their minds
What makes you think parents aren't exploiting their kids??? Bold and even Foolish of you to assume. Also... Parents don't care what their kids watch, so long as I'm the surface it looks okay.
It’s not entirely there fault tho yeah it’s irresponsible to leave your kid to just watch RU-vid but they should be on RU-vid kids and this shit shouldn’t be on it
This dude has one of the best styles I've ever seen on youtube, and I've been on this dumpster site since it started. It's actually really impressive the amount of production quality and creativity that goes into this stuff. I'm not surprised he only uploads once every 120 years.
Imo, It's not only sad but it's sickening. children are EXTREMELY vulnerable, gullible and innocent, and those videos only prove that further and the fact that he probably knows this (and knows that he has a young audience, HE SAID IT HIMSELF!!!...) but continues to do this type of content is just... Wow. I don't blame the children's parents. Parenting is hard and sometimes if there's a simple "trusting" way to make it easier then with most parents they'll take that chance considering how busy parenting in general is, which further makes me think it's sickening that he's doing this... Most parents don't have time to check out on their kids and see what they're watching until they do and/or say something that older more sensible people will find "bad" and that's where the questions come in: "where did you learn that from?!" "How could you say something like that?!" Etc, etc. And he takes hardcore advantage of this. now, most advertising does this as well but to this extent? So yeah, Jake Paul is a bad person and he should be stopped. *Like now.*
I’m always impressed on how beautiful your videos of morally ugly people are , but it’s the audio richness & quality that makes me come back and rewatch them. 🙂
Let's not pretend they're dumb. That's what manipulative, exploitative assholes want you to think. None of this bullshit is an accident and acting like they just somehow fell into millions of dollars through idiocy lets them off the hook.
Aside from the fact that this video is incredibly well made, you deserve some serious recognition for undoubtedly killing your throat from speaking in that voice for so long!
Imagine being one of those babies and growing up and your parents are like “oh yeah you met Jake Paul when you were a baby” and they show you the video of this creep screaming in your face. Then suddenly you realise that blonde monster that you wake up from terrified in your sleep in a cold sweat has a name.
The whole reason child protection regulations were made online, years ago, was because of online corporations starting to gather childrens data and sell it. These things never change.
I do work at a thrift/charity shop in London and I can say from first hand experience that we legally cannot sell Jake Paul merch because of all the stolen artwork. It falls into the same category as pirated dvds or any other counterfeit product.
little bitch macadamia holy shit, that’s wild. That doesn’t surprise me though, he seems like the kind of guy who would steal art work or commission an artist in exchange for ‘exposure’. What a scumbag.
How can it be stolen if it's public domain/royalty free imagery? Not defending him at all, he's a predatory scumbag who sees children as objects to be used instead of actual human beings. But I thought the whole point was that he was lazily adding free-to-use stock photos to get away with having shitty unoriginal merchandise
@Davis O'Brien Well actually sociopathy is not a dated classification. The "psychologists" you're referring to are simply those who made the DSM and they have been heavily criticised for their classifications. The DSM is heavily flawed and vastly imperfect. Sociopathy, and especially psychopathy, are very different to ASPD, they just have a common part which is the anti social tendencies. Thankfully the DSM is always changed and improved.
@Davis O'Brien Did you read my comment? I know they don't, but that doesn't mean they're not real. The DSM is literally a bunch of people sitting around and deciding what they think is best. It does not represent the overall academic opinion or what the research shows. Read my comment again
@Davis O'Brien There is still a ton of research being done everyday on sociopathy and psychopathy. It is not the case that they are 'not a thing anymore'. They just simply aren't separate mental disorders in the DSM that can be diagnosed by a psychologist at this point. That's literally it. It doesn't mean they don't exist anymore. Also, it makes sense they wouldn't be included for now because a psychopathy diagnoses is complicated and requires rigorous expensive testing such as a variety of brain scan tests.
@Davis O'Brien Bruh, that's like saying rain doesn't exist because it's not on some random meteorologist's list. Not being on a list doesn't make something not real, like being on a list doesn't make it real.
As human, it pissed me off. That was disgusting, but I am disgusted with the parents of the babies even more since there is a good chance they okayed Jake’s content. Otherwise we would have heard about lawsuits brought up against him, but nothing has happened thus far.
I am not even a mom, and I found that disgusting. I don't understand the parents of these babies that they "okayed" this. Are they so fame hungry? I can not understand this at all.
As a mom you know better than to have your kids star in a Jake Paul video. Why would anyone do that other than to make money off of their child? Which, by the way, is illegal.
Dude you absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one - your use of ambiance mixed with great story telling and editing make this whole video seem more like a movie, not a RU-vid video. Phenomenal.
One of the videos of the kids crying disturbed me far more than the others and it's the one of the girl with the teddy bear. I only find it so weird because you can see a family photo in the back and it makes this whole thing seem so surreal. It feels like it's a scene out of a movie about children being brainwashed by the internet. Gives you a "what went wrong" kinda feel.
I'm genuinely perplexed and bamboozled as to how good this video is. The amount of effort that's been poured into this from the editing, the writing, the research, the comedy, everything is staggering. Easily one of the most underrated channels on this platform right now.
agreed. just stumbled upon this channel and figured i'd see how someone can possibly make a nearly hour long video about Jake Paul but shit 30 mins in and still entertained.
Imagine growing up and your hero is Jake Paul For real tho those kids were so innoccent and distressed it's honestly exploitation. He needs to be stopped
I'm writing a research paper for my uni's writing class about manipulative marketing towards children on the internet, and this video's been a fantastic help in my research. Thanks Nerd City for the top notch content, you covered this topic way better than I ever could.
@@nerdcity you might also do an investigation on Guava Juice and Collins Key. They show similar characteristics with Jake Paul, even down to the advertisements taking up much of their videos. Both RU-vidrs' merch are DIY/craft related, but they advertise them in a similar fashion. When I saw Jake Paul shill out his merch within his video, it reminded me heavily of how Guava Juice advertised his merch. You might be familiar with the Mystery Brand scandal that Jake Paul and Ricegum were involved in. Guava Juice also participated in this Mystery Brand scam (you might have known this from Ricegum's """""apology""""" video). That is how I knew about his shady advertisements masquerading as kid's content. While watching a video covering his shady behavior, I had come across moments where he showed some very irresponsible behaviors similar to those of the Paul Brothers. His actions include: violently beating up boxes that he had explicitly stated to his kid viewers to contain living dogs (a ripoff of a sketch from a RU-vidr named jacksfilms, a channel geared towards teens and adults), buying "mystery boxes" from the "Deep" Web (you know, that place that was very well known for child porn, illegal drugs, and "red rooms"/snuff films), and treating a thousand dollars as if it were just pocket change during one of his controversial "Mystery Brand" videos. As for Collins Key, his constant advertising came in the form of a "banner"-ish ad that takes up a good chunk of the screen. His videos would consist of him and "his brother Devin" trying to do an arts and crafts project (usually slime) with "Devin" trying to do the project and Collins acting like JoJo Siwa. The video would stop constantly to have the "brothers" pull out a "challenge" where kid viewers had to press the "Subscribe" button and Bell icon within 5 seconds in order to "win the challenge". Sounds manipulative enough, but it gets much worse from here: he would also hold a challenge where children had to "pause the video" and text a code word to a (premium text) number in order to "win" a 15 minute conversation with Collins and "Devin". A RU-vidr texted that number and it replied (with an automatic message) that texting this number will result in the phone receiving marketing texts unless the person replied "STOP", obviously resulting in premium charges to the parent's cell phone plan. If the person replied "STOP", however, the person receives a custom text message starting with "Collins Key-" and telling the recipient that Collins himself is upset that they have been unsubscribed to the channel and that they must text that number back if they want to come back into his "inner circle". This challenge caught me off guard as it looked like something that belonged on American Idol, Deal or No Deal, or any tv show/program meant for adults 18-21 and older, not a RU-vid channel geared towards children. I was surprised, as you might be that this didn't get a massive mainstream media coverage as this practice had been outlawed in the mid-to-late 90s, at least in the US. Before then, you had scam commercials that would tell children to dial a 1-900/976 number so they can talk to either a fictional character (usually Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny) or a famous celebrity/music group at the time (I could only think of New Kids on the Block at this moment) airing alongside the other commercials that would air alongside their usual Saturday Morning cartoons. You can check up with a RU-vidr named NerdECrafter, she has a lot of experience with Guava Juice and Collins Key's shenanigans and has done a video on both of their shady behaviors.
@@ahniandfriends123 Jesus Christ you did a lot of research for this comment. How about you turn it into a video or maybe Nerd City will make one and shout you out.Yeah and I never got that.Devin makes a piece of art but Collins is a dumbass.Prob so the kids like Collins and how childish he is so they will sub to have a laugh. And about Guava Juice, all I know that he is a 3am asshole who also clickbaits. So you are right. These to remind me of someone.Collins looks a lot like this guy.Ah shit, its Jake Paul.
What amazes me is how parents are not willing to let their kid walk down the street to the park alone or ride home from school, but are willing to give them an iPad with internet access. We have as a society managed to become both overprotective of children while also being totally neglectful.
Literally stealing candy from a baby is about as cartoonishly villainous as RU-vidrs get, which ironically fits his brand - he's even villainous in a way catered toward children.
The reactions from the children to the 'hostage' situation really break my heart every time. "He's my hero... and my best friend", "I don't care if they come to ME!". It's so unsettling how well this guy's manipulation works.
Absolutely agree, It makes me so mad to see vulnerable children looking up to this Narcissistic man child when there are FAR better role models out there.
I just want you to know I've never seen your videos (recommendation from Amanada the Jedi's channel brought me here), and I'm kinda stingy with my subscriptions (not because I'm a snobby bitch, I just don't want my recs list congested) but within two minutes of your video I WAS smashing that like button and I WAS ringing that bell. You're just insanely good at what you do. I hope you're proud and I hope you remain a decent person in all your success.
This is the most thoughtful and well reasoned argument against Jake Paul I have seen yet. Too bad it doesn't have enough sexual depravity and cringe for his audience to tune in
Agreeing with an arguement that Jake Paul is bad because he manipulates his audience, and then in the same breath berating his audience for being stupid for liking him is...a very confusing approach.
Seeing Jake with those babies literally activated my maternal fight instincts. Jake Paul turned me into a Karen for a solid 10 seconds and that makes me hate him more.
to be fair, getting mad at a grown man tormenting and exploiting literal infants for money is a perfectly reasonable reaction if you're someone who gives even a single shit about the well-being of kids
He turned me into the head of a lion pride. I felt a desire to protect those cubs that I can only compare to the one time I was deprived of food for 3 days (religious reasons) and saw an advertisement for a steak. The longer I saw his hands around those poor babies the more I felt the need to break something
I know you’re still reading comments, even after all this time. I hope you are doing well and thank you for making content that is so rewatchable. Stay safe, love ya ❤️❤️
@@nerdcity it’s been a entre year so I know that this one is gonna be epic. You’re channel has been recommended to me by another smaller RU-vidr who makes similar documentary type videos. Nuff respect coming to you from Jamaica, keep up the good work mi fren 🤜🤛.
@@redy2098 he was recommended to me by Turkey Tom, He also make 1 hour long RU-vid related videos. I also recommend another channel called Ordinary Things. The first video I watched that was made by this guy is called “ The business of Nestlé ”. If you have a channel that you wanna tell me about, I’ll check it out when I get the chance to :)
@@annon9269 Thank you, i'll check him out. I'm already subscribed to Ordinary things though. i reccomend checking out Internet historian, every single one of his videos is 10/10, but i assume you know him sice they have done sevral colabs together
I thought I knew pretty much all there is to know, considered clicking away from this vid but then decided to watch a bit more and realised I knew nothing at all what's more is anyone who can actually do anything about this trash isn't gonna be baited into clicking any of this garbage so it totally flies under the radar
My mom did a thesis on children's television and advertising when my brother and I were little. I read it recently, now well into my thirties, and there's some interesting overlap and relating points between it and what's said in this video. She talked about the new laws about children's advertising, so it must have been very early nineties at the time.
God I feel so spoiled watching Nerd City’s content, it’s so good and thought out and edited so nicely that watching anyone else just feels like it’s not up to his quality
As a parent with a 4 year old, I found this really important to know. As someone who likes actual content, I found it amazing. Shocked you dont have more subscribers.
Ugh he is so gross. My nieces watch this absolute garbage. My sister can only control so much. They go to their friend's house and watch it. They're 10, 12, and 14. Last time I visited I told them he wasn't worth their time and they all called me a "hater." Those kids are brainwashed and Jake Paul is a predator. He's not the only one doing this kind of content, either. But he's definitely the most successful. I watched the Shane doc and was disappointed. I see myself in Shane a lot. I think he genuinely wants people to be good and would rather believe they are, and I'm the same way. Jake Paul might be a nice person if you meet him but that doesn't mean he's not shady as fuck. I think Shane was suckered because Jake was nice to him and I think I would have been, too. I love Shane and I don't think he should be doing any kind of "investigative reporting" stuff because he literally can't do it. He's too sensitive and empathetic and he's incredibly adverse to conflict. He'd rather believe something that sounds sincere rather than uncover that it's 100% not.
Thank you for saying that about Shane. Tbh, I've not watched much of his stuff. I was put off from watching the Jake Paul series because of the clips from the marriage counselor, calling mental illnesses "gross" and "disgusting". Given other clips with Shane confusing psychopaths and sociopaths, I knew I wasn't going to watch eight parts of this. :/ Pretty sure this is an unpopular opinion, but oh well. Also, I feel horrible for your family. :( Jake Paul most definitely feeds into that pre-teen/teen rebellion and targets children who think they know everything. The clips of the kids who believe that he and his gf are actually victims of a home invasion, broke my heart. Jeez, they are so young; they can't even tell fantasy from reality.
The clown thing was a real eye opener as to just how young his core audience really is. I was kinda thinking most were probably like 12-13. Those kids were 10 and under for christ's sake.
Nerdcity's videos are like essays. But if you had to have a thesis that unified his material on Jake Paul, Daddy o Five, Tana Mongeau and Ricegum, I think the thesis has to be "the future is doomed". As horrible as Jake Paul is, he's one amongst an army of the inane and the rot goes deep.
Man, kids admiring bad role-models has been going on for ages. We've survived it just fine. Kids are kinda dumb, often times. Comes from not having a fully developed brain. Once they grow up, they tend to figure out they were wrong to admire them.
I got the chills seeing all these children beg for Jake's life... That is such a cruel prank. He knew what he was doing. God damn it, I hate him even more.
@@skankhunter4364 well most children are stupid unfortunately, especially since their parents don't give a shit about them and what and who they are watching all day.
I felt so bad for those kids that were brainwashed into thinking their "friend" was going to be killed by clowns. I don't even like kids. In fact, I actively hate children but this monster drives me to wanna protect them
Govinda Solanki Vlogs doing some good things doesnt suddenly erase the bad things you do, this isnt math where positive cancels the negative, especially not if he is still doing said negative and manipulative things. And like the other guy said, criticism is not equal to bullying. Nerd City brought up good points of argurment against Jake's scummy and insidious business practices, argue those points if you think they are wrong, dont just go " hurr durr bUt jAke pAuL dID gOoD tHingS Too". We all want money to buy things we want and need. But fucking people over by manipulating their kids into using their parents money, is corrupt to say the least
Well yeah, I'm feeling for those kids. If there is something Jake is genuinely good at it's manipulating children. And these kids actually think they are something more to him that a money generator. That's really sad in my opinion - kids really aren't as developed emotionally as one might be lead to believe. And with someone as exploitative as Jake they don't stand a chance.
And why the hell do those kids have like, their own RU-vid channels? I get if they're just uploading fun stuff they're doing in their daily lives, but the manner they talk in sounds like your usual adult/teen Vloggers. It's just scary to see kids these days acting like adults, watching inappropriate content on RU-vid, but somehow still stuck with the childlike mindset that can't distinguish between reality & obvious staged plays.
No need to be so aggressive. Though I agree with your point, but it's really not that confusing. Kids watching the Paul Bros and the life they are living trying to imitate what their idols are doing. Obviously it's not gonna work out for most of them, but has that ever stopped someone from trying? I'd say as long as they dont behave like the people they adore just let them do their thing.
RU-vid want to be mainstream TV so badly, I wonder if they’ll introduce new regulations around in video ads after this video now. They can’t ignore this, you might have created a chain reaction here!
Jake Paul hit a new low when he "filmed" the riots in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday night. He has now been charged with a few crimes relating to that incident. And his response to the situation was his usual response to situations like it.
I was waiting to find a comment about this. I haven't catch up on a lot of news but, after the FBI raid, I wonder what's gonna happen next for Jake Paul?
@EGILA daX Hmmm yes, being brainwashed means they deserve bad stuff happening to them, that's not completely and backwards stupid reasoning at all. 🤔🤔 You missed the whole point of the video you pleb. He's saying what Jake is doing is wrong because it's so easy to manipulate and brainwash children. Don't understand why people online just don't understand how fragile and easy to control children are. Christ the edgy "kick the baby" shtick is starting to get old.
Educator here (I've taught k-12, college, enrichment classes, as a disability specialist, curriculum dev, tech bootcamps-- everything pretty much). I don't think him rubbing it in the face of his old teachers is disrespectful to teachers in general. He clearly has ADHD, right? Boys with ADHD are often treated like shit by teachers, and they often have rejection-sensitive dysphoria anyway. Then they get labeled and put on a separate track, and wind up with genuine trauma from it. He's not approaching it as a grown man, he's approaching it from his POV as a kid in trouble.
