A while ago my little sister started watching jake Paul. Me and my little sister has always been taught to respect money and really question ourselves if it is worth the money. But when she started watching jake Paul it was almost like she changed.. she somehow convinced my dad that she should buy jake Paul’s merch and a hoodie is VERY expensive. + we live in a different country so shipping is also very expensive. She had saved money to buy a super expensive hoodie which was completely not something she would normally do. When I found out I questioned her about it and the only response I could get from her was “but it’s cool” and “I want it” and she only got more and more defensive about it. When the hoodie finally arrived she wanted to buy more, luckily my dad said no. She got extremely upset about that. But it didn’t take long for her to begin questioning what she had done. She regretted buying it since she barely had any money left. And she never wears it anymore, I don’t even think I’ve seen it in months. Now even she can’t understand why she bought it. Watching jake Paul literally changed her during that time. It’s fucking creepy
Luckily your little sister understood what she had done wrong. Imagine what had happened to other children who didn't. It's sad to think how some people could be as stubborn and so full of ego, that they may actually get away with it.
He understands that children will save up/convince their parents, buy the merch, and then grow out of his content. When they do that, they hide the merch in shame. This sounds like a bad move, but actually sets it up so that nobody's complaining or causing issues because shame is a motivator, and the cycle continues. Straight predatory.
Thank you so much for this. Shane distorted the absolute truth about Jake Paul, not to mention Shane himself is so nice he wouldn’t ever REALLY go in on Jake to begin with. During the interview Jake looked like he was trying really hard to act like he was being sincere, but anyone over the age of 25 should be able to see right through his BS.

As the video showed, no, it's not. If given the time to write a script, he can actually be pretty damn clear and coherent. Off-the-cuff, he's less clear, but sh*t, so am I. So are a lot of people, even people who are otherwise good communicators. Speaking takes more brain power than typing, in the coordination sense, leaving less to use on things like making a clear point.
Have you seen Drew Gooden's video "I join Team 10 so you don't have to" where he gets a scam alert for joining Team 10s "inner circle" ? I really really wish someone who wasn't as empathic as Shane made the documentary. He's so bad at pushing hard questions and just can't stick to one narrative. He said he'd walk out if Jake lied to him in the least, but did he? Nope.
I really like Shane, but I feel like he doesn't really put in enough research before these projects. And like you said, he's just too damn empathetic. Not hating on Shane, but he was just too soft for the series. He should stray away from these types of “documentaries” because they’re anything but and just spread lies to his audience. It’s his responsibility as a respected influencer in the community to have his limits and know when to stop.

I came back to this video after a few weeks of living in the preview of new RU-vid that awaits for us in 2020. And the sad thing is... RU-vid has gotten the consequences of Jake Paul's actions, but everyone except from him, is suffering from the punishment. With the new COPPA regulations, a lot of videos that are not for childrens are being marked as such by the broken algorithm that RU-vid implemented. But the MAJORITY of Jake Pauls videos that are CLEARLY for childrens are left alone, showing, once again, youtube's favoritism for the Pauls. I just hope that they sue his ass in 2020 or all of this trouble will be for nothing.
This video's not really the same without the devil shadowing you for an interview under false pretenses to give an unethical diagnosis about Jake's soul without his knowledge

Sure he's living life on easy mode right now, but it can't last forever. His boyish good looks allow him to get away with his antics and still capture a young audience, but as he gets older kids won't want to watch him anymore and some other clown will take his place. He will also become less able to easily dodge responsibility for his shitty behavior. When at last he loses grip on his popularity, I doubt he'll have the self-awareness to realize that he never curated the skills needed to create content with lasting appeal. Then maybe he'll stage some desperate stunts to stay relevant before dropping in obscurity. Until that point he will continue to be surrounded by fake people who leech on him for exposure and money while frittering away his fortune. Inevitably when the world moves on he has to contend with the fact that his entire career was in service to nobody but himself and all of his fake friends will vanish. Like many before him who become addicted to their fame his life may fall apart when the constant adoration turns into indifference. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see news headlines 5 years from now of "Former RU-vid star Jake Paul arrested and in rehab".

The fact of the matter is that what he is doing is literally illegal, he chose his target demographic of young children, aged "8 -16" although being honest its probably averaged at lower than that and almost every video is over 50% advertisements. 50% is fucking absurd, literally 7 minutes from a 14 minute video is ad reads, that's over double what the law allows in terms of advertisements aimed towards young audiences. He literally manipulates small children into buying his cheaply made, unoriginal shirts that he can't even be bothered to purchase original artwork for, instead just finding shitty clip-art from the internet and plastering on there as if he owns it, which is also against copyright laws as some if not all of the artwork is permitted only for personal use, not commercial; not to even mention that he gives no credit or compensation for using said art. The man is blatantly scamming small children left right and centre to earn his fortune, and you believe it's all well earned money that he deserves, what a joke. Imagine somebody spent 5 years planning a bank heist, something that takes countless hours of work, and a hell of a lot of intelligence, do they deserve the money that they illegally took from other people? Yeah, not really, as impressive as it may be. (I understand this analogy is not perfectly applicable but the basic principal is close enough). Logically speaking, good people won't be rich (monetarily) because they are helping others. A CEO, for example, who is a good person would pay his employees a fair price for their work. A bad person CEO would pay employees less than they deserve, outsource jobs, and pay themselves a nice big bonus with all the extra money they save. This is why a good person can not become rich.

Shane definitely is not someone who should be interviewing controversial people and subject matter. From this documentary and tanacon documentary, we all learned that he is incapable of being unbiased and asking the hard questions and seeing through the subject’s bullshit.
From what I've seen from his content, he's a good guy, albeit spineless. He DEFINITELY isn't suited for the content he chose to focus on, but that's where the money's at.

I don't know if he'd still get away with it because youtube is messed up, but you're also right. The UK has laws specifically about not allowing guilt-trip-based advertising to kids. For example, they changed the bunny's response in Streetpass on the 3DS when you select that you don't want to pay real money to buy something. In the UK version he takes it well and says "Fair enough," but in the US and Japan he's clearly disappointed and even makes a sad face!

He covered the remaining 97-96% by saying "Boohoo.. who cares.." literally. It's funny, I'll give you that.. but it's far from being called a masterpiece.. if we have to compare this to a content cop for example.. or Gokanaru's video about H3H3.. this is pretty shitty.
ReallyUnexplainable it doesn’t cover most of shane’s documentary because most of the doc is either drama between creators or fluff for entertainment, neither of which have anything to do with the direction of this video. i’ve seen every video you’re referring to here and i genuinely do not think that, in terms of conciseness and depth of research, any of them rival what this video is able to do. content cops are great and don’t get me wrong i love them and they’re very well made, but by nature they don’t hone in on one specific facet of criticizing a person and instead usually are broader strokes and thrive on the already established public distaste for a creator. nerd city is fleshing out this one specific part of shane’s doc that they believe to be the most flawed and important (as do i) and are debunking it in a more concrete, factual, and undeniable way than any other commentary piece i’ve ever seen on jake paul or literally anyone else. this video doesn’t rely on anything but the evidence it presents, no funny insults or retorts necessary. and i personally think that that’s something only nerd city has pulled off this well, in this video and most others on the channel.

His past, his relationships, his motivations and so on. Shane's documentary was so successful because it gave us what we wanted. A peek inside jp's odd mind. Honestly, I believe that what nerd city wanted to do is to jump on the success of a great series. If you don't lose sight of what the documentary is about, you realize that what nc did is to nitpick one relatively unimportant part of the entire documentary, and built a video around that.

He mentioned how big companies send their lobbyists to take up jobs in Congress (FCC) and change laws to give the companies an advantage. Afterward, Ajit goes back to Verizon and collects a huge bonus after leaving the FCC in ruins. It seems like Disney is doing something similar with the Paul bros. Jake Paul used similar tactics in his response to the situation about him "filming" the riots in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday. Fortunately, the police in Scottsdale either didn't get the message Jake put on RU-vid or didn't fall for it if they did get it.
I've worked as a coach and now at a teen center and yes the younger kids did think that buying RU-vid merch would make them cool. the teenager have more or less grown out of it and don't let the outsider define their coolness but that's just the teenager I work with. im sure others are more susceptible

carolina stop acting like Shane is this innocent snowflake when he is an adult who knows the world, has access to internet, knows what people talk and probably spread biased sugarcoated half truths on purpose. Accept it: either Shane is the most gullible and blind person in the world for not knowing any of this stuff about Jake, or he lies about actually working hard when it comes research for his videos. Both of them can't be true at the same time
