Paris 2024 Olympics Bound - South Sudan Basketball Team

Despite enduring civil war and political unrest since its inception in 2011, a group of young basketball players, many refugees, have risen above adversity to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The South Sudan Basketball Federation aimed to foster unity and opportunities for the youth. Key to their success was mentorship from former NBA player Luol Deng, who provided training, equipment, and international exposure. The Bright Stars, as they are known, competed fiercely in the FIBA Championship, securing their Olympic spot at the FIBA World Cup 2023 in Manila. They favored quicker return to sport through customized physical therapy interventions, combining manual medicine, human movement science, and advanced technologies.
