Paris-Roubaix is perhaps the most iconic one day bike race in the world, and is called The Hell of the North for a very good reason. I was invited to join the Dream Cycling Team and attempt the 172km Paris-Roubaix Challenge, including approximately 60km of the world famous Pave !
I thought doing a VLOG was a good idea. Hopefully this film will give you an idea of what my toughest ever day on a bike was like ! The next day we got to watch the Pro Race and see the awesome Peter Sagan claim a famous victory.

Great video. Thanks for filming. Question - Is the velodrome open for you to ride most days? On my visit I'd like to film a couple of laps, as Saturday's Challenge does not look like the best time to do it. Thank you for your time.

Fantastic blog. I did this in 2014. Abiding memories were the discarded bottle cages and seat packs on the first sector where folks hadn’t torqued up. I feel on sector 3 which didn’t make matters easier. The last few sectors were so painful on my wrists. And we passed a guy doing it on a penny farthing. Mental. But I always say it was the best thing I’ve ever done on a bike. Even better than the etape.

I've not done the etape but did do the last 5 stage of the tour route in 2010. This is right up there with the best and hardest cycling challenges I've done. You could open a bike shop with the amount of gear that falls off bikes on the cobbles !

Sensational effort. I took on 115 klm ride during Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race event but only got to 86 klm and November cobbles, but plenty of hills. Have signed up for next year’s event and I WILL finish this time

I've only just watched this Vlog. I didnt realise you were a keen cyclist. Chapeau for doing this, its no mean feat. I ride loads and plan to ride it next year.

Cheers Andrew. Can't recommend the event enough. If you can do it with a group so you can leave cars at the start and finish rather than relying on the shuttle bus which leaves Roubaix at about 0400 and means lots of waiting for bikes etc. You might like this other bike VLOG from last year. Standard racing saddle and padded shorts. However, special tyres were the most important must have. A worthwhile investment at £55 each !!!!!

Great vlog! I ride it first time too, and same reaction on the first secteurs! Omfg what have I done, 50km of this to go. Couldn't move my hands properly for a few days afterwards and they're still bruised!

I am doing Velo South in September, which is a 100 mile closed road sportive that starts from Goodwood Motor Circuit. That should be pretty special :-) Mrs PP is mega supportive :-)

Good stuff but they weren't taking it seriously enough, most of them looked over weight. Any training? guess it's whatever you want to make it. Have done Amstel Gold 255 km and Fleche Wallonne 210 km in same week alone, no back up and riding to Amstel start Heelen Netherlands from airport. Was 20 years ago and darn fit then, was in abit of a mess after though.

I've know him nearly 20 years...a great mate :-) I am very tempted to go back. I had two lots of bar tape, Challenge Paris Roubaix 27 tyres at 60 PSI work brilliant :-)

I used same tyres, but at 100 psi! (I am 93kgs though). No gel pads, one wrap of normal bar tape, and thin track mitts. Biiig mistake!

Respect, did London-Paris in 2013 on my carbon Scott bike & psi was at least 100+. I bet your bum.was sore after those cobbles. Brutal.

No, 27 profile tyres so there is quite a lot of give. Any less than that at my weight and you would start to get the rim hitting the cobbles and risk pinching the tyre.
