Paris to Frankfurt takes 3h49 and fares start at €39.90 in 2nd class or €69.90 in 1st class, for practical info & how to buy tickets see www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/paris-to-germany-by-tgv-or-ice.htm
Amazing to glide over the fields of World War 1 and through Saar that was awarded to France as partial reparations and later returned by plebiscite. What amazing things has the European Union achieved with such seamless travel and curt matter of fact announcements .
Indeed. I'm a Commonwealth soldier (or at least I used to be). Many like me were sent often against their will from their homelands far removed from the wars' geographical origins in Europe to fight and die on that continent, for that continent. To see the EU maintain the post-1957 peace so successfully has helped to entrench my admiration for the bloc's major backers, and it did indeed solidify my pro-British views. Those pro-British views are why I wanted the UK to remain in the EU and now want it to rejoin
Quiet and smooth. Just love those ICE trains. Perhaps seat 61 was occupied by a fellow traveler, hence your not being able to secure it for your trip to Frankfurt. Do the polite thing and ask them to leave. 'Excuse me sir, but you're sitting in MY seat and I have this Utube channel with 150K+ followers to prove it'. That should do it. Seriously, I enjoy your videos and look forward to the next adventure. Been many years since I rail traveled in Europe. Lots of changes, obviously. Got to get back but until then, I ride with you.
@@MohamedRahim Thanks. Hope this will be soon. How is life in Egypt during the pandemic? We in Europe know that with tourism hit hard and the threat of terrorism it must be quite difficult.
@@Sedna063 believe me dear. It is 100% safe here and you can walk safe at 3 am as Egypt is a sleepless country. For pandemic, like any country we follow precautionary regulations.
Wide open spaces with no stops in France, mid-sized towns every 30 minutes in Germany. That’s the whole difference between TGV and ICE travel explained in one short film...
No wonder that we feel isolated from the Continent . When are ICE & sleeper trains going to operate in and out of London , as originally envisioned? Our rail infrastructure continues to lag behind the rest of Europe. The paradox of DB running British rail freight and Chiltern Railways is not lost on many of us Good to note the terrible French of the Train manager .
@@felixw19 I suppose you are right and as the UK has left the EU , little that we can do about it . the SNCF have just been bailed out for €2Bn , so things could change?
Great video! At 7:01 you can see the Melibokus Mountain (516m) - home sweet home :-) -By the way: is it the same train? Compare the dirt-pattern on the nose of the train at 0:39, 1:12 and 8:11
Clever! There was a last-minute stock changeover, I had already taken all the static shots in Paris with the first train with no time to repeat them as it was already past departure time by the time we got the replacement train on platform 10 - but it was the same seat in the same type of train, so hey-ho. It was the cause of the delay you might hear about in the announcements. I thought people would notice that the platform was on the right hand side of the train in the static shots, but as the train departed Paris it was on the left.
Good looking train, I took a tour of an ICE Train in Chicago, Illinois (Late 1993) What a beautiful interior. The inside had the 1990's color scheme mauve and gray some cars had blue. Unfortunately no rides to the general public.
I love to travel by train, discovered it a few years ago. Since then with my bike from Netherlands to Lyon/Valence/Marseille/Paris. It is just great travel, far better than a plane.
I have recently purchased an SNCF Avantage card for over 60s, would it apply on a journey like this? For general info; I planned a multi leg rail journey around France, starting and finishing at St Pancras, but have changed to flying because of potential disruption at the tunnel.
Flying isn't going to save you much time, especially when you have to factor in getting to the airport, which within London is going to take up to 3h (1h on the Piccadilly Line from St Pancras to Heathrow Airport T5 and 2h to check in) - the same time as it would take to get from St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord
I would like to have a information please..... is there any restrictions about covid ? For example Negative pcr test or Covid EU certificate? Please Let me know because I'm traveling next week. Paris to frankfurt
@@jatterhog ^ I don’t understand this response. Are Frankfurt or Paris in Sweden? Frankfurt and Paris are so close that in the time you spend getting to the airport, checking in, going through security, taxiing to the runway, flying, arriving, picking up baggage, and getting a cab or train from the airport, you could have just spent on a high speed train that brings you from city center to city center. It’s stupid to fly.
@@rominn2184 I’ve heard that the German long distance train punctuality is even worse than in Sweden, and on important business trips one has to keep that in mind. I often take the flight “outbound” and the train “inbound” since I wouldn’t mind being a bit late back home and having some time to unwind on the train after a hectic day. The only real exception to the first point is night trains, which I personally love.
Yes, there are plenty of connections, regional as well as ICE are running quite often for this short hop as part of their regular schedule and routing.
second class looks a bit less "stiff" But those seats Arent very comfy compared to older seats but that's a common theme in the DB, making everything looking decent, professional, stiff what ever you want to call it, but also making it very unpractical and uncomfortable.
