More like young addiction. I’ve seen multiple videos of these two when they were a few years younger (so around pre-teen/early adolescent) and the male would relentlessly chase her down and violently r+pe her repeatedly in front of the visitors. She was so humiliated she’d cover the back of her head with her hands while he was forcing himself on her. It was extremely upsetting that people posted it, others made jokes or said it was normal or worse called them both disgusting. As if she had a choice. And the zoo did nothing. I guess I should be happy they seem to have a little more equality and the rough -housing is being initiated by both.

Young unflanged males procreate almost exclusively through rape in the wild as well as captivity. Its a part of life for many mammals which will continue on whether your uninformed opinions persist or otherwise.

I'm sorry, but if that violence was happening than the zoo would've separated them. Orangutan behavior is completely different than humans, they don't have a concept of shame or humiliation when it comes to these actions in front of others. Also, what videos are you talking about?? I've been following Batu's progress at that zoo for months since I liked watching her at the Philadelphia Zoo and I happen to have a friend who visits the Woodland Park Zoo regularly and he's said nothing about this. I think you're just lying to put a bad name on zoos.
