My dad had us fiberglassing at a very young age. This is the first project like this I have done. I will have more videos up as soon ad my daughter edits them. She is very busy in college at the moment. Thanks for watching!
Very onerous to rebuild a boat! But every step of the way you can see where cost cutting and doing it down and dirty leads. A lesson each time you find that you want to take a short cut and what results. On the upside it is very rewarding to see the finished product and have confidence that it will outlast you. Completely agree with you that anything that absorbs water should not be buried away in the structure. In hindsight would you have been better off jigging up a form on the outside of the hull to help keep its shape when you removed so much framing?
The hull is a minimum of 1/2 in thick everywhere. I thought I could take half of the stringers out at a time due to the thickness. It barely moved, and I got it back straight with putting a bunch of lead inside. When I did the second side I left around 1/3 of the center stringer in till the outer ones were finished (I will show that in video 5). That method kept it straight as an arrow. Lesson learned.
