As you often recommend, I only slightly flicked the water out of my brush in a recent shave, and it made a world of difference. Sometimes I am slow to take advice, but that little hint of yours helped make tonight's shave fantastic. My lather seemed much better.

Great video again. I had a Variant for a while. It always felt aggressive and uncomfortable no matter what I did and what blade I used. Really wanted to love it. It looks really good by the way. But just didn't work for me. Ended up selling it and buying a Merkur Progress. The Progress is perfect for me. Really happy with it. Similar head to the Variant but the shave so smooth and comfortable, even in higher settings.

Another beautiful flower arrangement by Mrs H. Jill used to compliment it everytime in the comments. I miss that. She is missed. I'm doing kind of a Williams soap monthly challenge during April. Changing gear in every shave except for the soap. So the razor was Edwin Jagger 3one6 with a Derby Extra blade, Captain Fawcett 'best badger' brush and Nivea Deep after shave. Waiting for a new Stirling soap 'Nag Champa' that I've heard from Shaving with Fuzzy has an incense type scent. All the best!

More often and more ofter I use the muhle R41. From 3 days growth to almost BBS. When I make a shave on the 7th or 8th day it takes me two passes. Most of the time I go with the growth. Only when correction are needed I go against the growth. Perfect shave, Paul! Keep it coming.

In Pennsylvania we can't plant the veg garden until our Mothers Day or the second week in May. I live surrounded by farms and at the moment they are spreading and plowing in manure. They always show me when it's safe to plant. Looking forward to your farm reports on both channels😉

Great shave Paul! I made a horrible mistake by giving the Fat tip razor to my son just starting out in wet shaving. It took 4 years for him to even try another double edge razor again. I seriously didn’t realize just how deadly it was. I still feel terrible about that!

Nice shave Paul💈💈 The "Variant" is my only Parker razor and a good one it is, always get a comfortable shave with it. Don't think I'd like this soap, candied grape wouldn't appeal to me although I've eaten grape suckers. It's been in the low 80F's already here, garden is planted and growing. Dazzling display of color, thanks Mrs H. SOTD: PAA Cube, Stirling "Evergreen Forest" soap/splash/EDT, Grizzly Bay custom badger brush, PAA Copper "Ascension" razor w/Personna Red blade, alum, Thayers witch hazel and AV 5 in 1 balm....spectacular. Great video and comments. Enjoy!

Just had an amazing shave right before watching this. Merkur Futur with a 4th use Wilkinson Sword blade, Captains Choice Bay Rum Cream, Cat O 9 tail aftershave and Captains Choice Bay Rum balm. Not everyone’s first choice but I loves me some Bay Rum.

Cannot argue with Personna blades, both the red & blue offer superb performance. For me, the blue is a top five blade: sharp and smooth with very good longevity. The red seems a bit rougher, for me, but gets smoother with more shaves then competes with the blue for longevity. SOTD - GSC Sumatra with a new Gillette WS blade. I tried some glycerin shave soap made in China - the stuff lathers a treat with a very good post shave. G'day, Paul.

Well done to Mrs H another wonderful display. More a citrus...rum..fougere scented soap guy me. Pearl products good coffee op. Yet to use flexi v3. Keep up the good shaves. SOTD Rockwell 6 c 3 plate razor. CC Rum shave soap. Willys blade use 1. 1305 excelsior brush Welsh water rinse. Arko moisturiser cream. Cat nine tails aftershave.

Weather has been great! Went from 39c and worst air pollution in the world, to two days of rain at 23c(cold for us) and clear skies again.

Great shave mate, I keep eyeing up the progress, £50 is a bit spendy for me at the moment. Saying that I just picked up a couple of yaqi brushes, can't resist them for a fiver on aliexpress when they come in! It's dropped below freeing our way again, quite a bit of snow yesterday as well, not a great deal of gardening done, sorted out the pond last week, now the poor old koi can't eat again! End of the world weather.

5 for the first pass and 3 for the second are the same settings I use on my 1959 Gillette Fatboy. I may have to give the Parker a try as well. Cheers!

Van Yulay has a Grape Soda that is amazing in scent along with their great initial and residual slickness. I saw a video back a bit where you were gifted some Van Yulay, but I have not seen a video of you using any.

Ah Paul, how did you know I was waiting on a vintage... My first vintage actually! A 1960 Gilette Flare Tip 😁 Super excited to receive it and give it another home in another den. Hopefully to keep it in good condition and perhaps pass it on/down once more.

Great shave. My SOTD to celebrate my birthday on Friday the day before to abide by my own shaving schedule is gonna be of the King C Gillette razor with a Gillette Platinum blade on its 4th use, Talbot Shaving Island in the Sun, Omega 10066 brush, Skin Bracer AS and the Nivea Post Shave Balm. The scent of the soap you used would be great for me as I like gum and fruity scents myself. A kid in me would be excited to smell that scent

Gorgeous display by Mrs H!!! Wonderful choices for your mid-week shave!!! My SOTD will be the Tatara Masamune with a Gillette Platinum blade, Paul H Films Synthetic shaving brush, PAA Cube 2.0, Barrister and Mann Fougere Angelique Soap and Aftershave, and some L’Oréal Men Expert Birch Sap Balm to finish the shave. Meal of the day is some smoked beef brisket with some homemade spicy bbq sauce, grilled corn on the cob, baked beans with ham hocks, and jalapeño cornbread. Have a wonderful day and stay safe!!!

You would be hard pressed to find a bad Yaqi brush! I snagged a 26mm two-band Moka Express in their sale last week, for just over a tenner. I can't wait for that to get to Thailand. It will be only my second badger, and the first I have managed to buy for myself.

Hi Paul excellent shave I was put off the Parker by reviews where people had experienced issues with them in fact one man did as video detailing all its faults but obviously you haven't experienced any watching your video. A razor I would like to see you use is the Outlaw I do own one of these and would be interested to get your opinion. Kind regards to you and Mrs H Keep well and keep safe.

It’s pollen season in North Carolina. Went out to my black car this morning and discovered it had turned yellow! Like the razor, probably wouldn’t be a big fan of the sweet grape bubble gum scent, however.

Crocuses blossomed a few weeks ago. Daffodils, hyacinths, and forsythias are in full bloom now. Cherries and ornamental pears are starting to bloom. We've planted some bulbs and seeds, but nothing is growing yet. Dahlias, ranunculus, liatris, and sunflowers.

I want to upgrade a bit. Got an inexpensive adjustable razor to see if I'd like it. I do. I'm stuck between a rockwell 6c or the Parker varient. Was wondering if you had a preference between the two

I’ve always wanted to try that soap, just never got around to it. The artificial grape/bubblegum scent intrigues me for some reason. Didn’t plant anything in the garden this spring. About a month and a half ago, Mother Nature “gifted” us with 7 (yes SEVEN) baby cottontail rabbits 🐇 🙄 in our back yard. They aren’t destructive or anything so we don’t mind having them hop around. They’re mostly nocturnal, and they come and go as they wish. I just feared planting anything outside would just be an open invitation for them to feast on my vegetable buffet hahaha 🤣.

I went with a Personna isreali blue and had 59 uses on it, still was doing well with the sharpness just pitched it just simply got bored with it, but it is an excellent sharp smooth blade!

I have Parker Variant & like it. Will it be redundant having Pearl Flexi? Its weight 140gm is too heavy? What's your opinion about Parker Variant, Perl Flexi & Merkur Progress? though it could be boresome repeated question.😅

Pearl Flexi appears to have problems (Kevy Shaves also addressed this issue - twice) so I suggest you skip this for now.

Last year, I made a mistake of buying a hundred pack of Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades and it seems like every other blade is dull and give a horrible shave.

I recently got a pack of the Personna Med Prep blades and while they do give me a great shave overall, I find that the first pass is not smooth, the blade really tugs at my hair. The second pass has been much better. I only shave every two days because my skin is very sensitive and I'm wondering if that's why it tugs so much. Any thoughts Paul?

Hi Stacey, it is probably the fact the blade is so sharp, it can feel tuggy sometimes, I get it now and again using Feather blades, the second , third shaves are great....some people say to run the blade on a cork first before use, but not tried that. Many thanks :-)
