First of all I want to thank you for your service, I solute you sir, now that being said I have to say I’m pretty sold on the future but the Parker is on my list of razors to have. I am 70 and have been shaving for 55 years and have never used a DE razor, I’ve always used the throw away type so this is new to me and truth be known I would rather be collecting guns but razors are a nice hobby and a lot cheaper that guns and it gives me something to do. I do have a list of wants and if I continue watching all of the shaving channels I done know where it will end. Thanks again for your service and a great video.
I retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years, After I retired I bought a Home in Houston Texas, I love it here! I have been to 45 of 50 states and Texas is my Favorite. I also bought a House in South Korea (I live there 6 months out of every year) I really love 대구 South Korea.
Futur on 3 feels like 5 on the variant is exactly what I was looking for info wise. Lord platinum blades are some of my top 3. My buddy loved them so much he bought a ton of them after I told him to try them. They are super smooth! I prefer the Futur on 1-2.5. Setting 3+ is a tad much for me! 2 mows serious growth
Over load with soap not water lol. First it was a thin lather.. Now it's a bubble bath on your face.. If u add to much then dap a little water on the tips and rebrush
I had a Merkur Futur and used it daily until one of the spring clips that holds the head on broke off...and I am not particularly hard on my razors...the metal is not that strong and crimps the steel spring clips in place, once one fell out the head was unstable and the razor was junk. Recently, I tried a Ming Shi knock off, it is similar in design to the Futur but lighter weight and not as nice. More recently I got a Parker Variant and it is superior to both the Futur and the knock off. (in between I got a Rockwell 6S, but even with plate 6 it was too mild for me...)
Shaved Weiss my sister a longtime California girl moved to Spokane Washington she loves it way more than California because of the softer lifestyle and the “ dry humidity”.... she says even at 25 degrees there it’s like 49 degrees in California because of the low humidity...even when it’s hot there the heat does not go below skin level...it’s a lifestyle reminiscent of the 1950’s ( according to her) .....if that’s a lifestyle in your wheel house that could be an option, plus it’s cheap living....
Shaved Weiss, I have tried various bowls. The best is a medium sized plastic mixing bowl I got for 60p - less than $1. Just try something from the kitchen. The bowls sold commercially are too small. Lots of videos to see.
Just to add:. Most videos show massive amounts of soap being loaded, way too much. A dip in a cream is enough, 5 seconds swirl Inna bloomed hard soap. You're not making the lather in the soap bowl. What start as funny thin soap can be whipped into a meringue like consistency in the bowl. With synthetics you may need to add a little more water.
Chris Seeker I definitely am an overloader! I am trying to get better at that as well and bowl lathering may solve that problem as well. Thanks for all the great tips and please don't hesitate to share more!
An IMUSA 10-Ounce Salsa Dish (available for less than $2 at Wal-mart) does a wonderful job creating lather with a pea-sized (or less) amount of any soap (and even less with shavings of non-bloomed, triple milled soaps). You just distribute (or press) the soap evenly across the base of the bowl, work some lather with a damp brush, then extract any lather from the base of the knot (using the edge of the bowl) and rework it several times, adding water when necessary to create a meringue-like lather. This seems to work best with synthetic brushes. I imagine a "Helen’s Asian Kitchen Suribachi (ceramic bowl)" might do an even better job, though I don't know if it might ruin the tips of any prized brushes. Then there's the risk of dropping it. It's too bad no one makes a plastic suribachi bowl. Another bowl some people like is a Copper Shaving Bowl (hand hammered in Turkey), which is available on eBay for less than $10. I'd probably try a suribachi bowl first.

I live in the s.f bay area if you like getting paid tons of money this is the place rent for a 2 bed room is $2,500 at the minimum can go up to $3,500 if you dont mind the trafic and lots of people this is the place for you i love this place you will never get bored but the traffic shit that traffic ....great video i was looking into buying a parker or the futre but thanks you i made up my mind
I had bought the Parker Variant (gray version) and after two shaves the plating starting chipping off all over on the head and handle. I knew based on the metal of the head (zinc metal) it would eventually rust out once the missing plating of the metal was contiously expoed to water. I clean my razors and even take the blades out after each shave so I know it wasn't error on m part. I did get two good shaves out it. Parker offered to replace it after I showed them pictures, but I thought to myself "after only two shaves the plating is coming off...hmm." So I returned it and got a refund and bought the Merkur Futur matte finish version. Qshave has a clone of the Futur now that I heard is also a drop milder on each setting. Anyhow, I haven't had any problems with my Merkur and it's my main adjustable razor, but I have a thick jet black beard to shave (I keep clean shave) and I don't have sensitive skin so anything too mild of a razor won't work on me. I tried the Gillette Slim (1968 version) and they're good too, but the only downside is they're usually 40+ years old and used so one is at risk of getting a bad or broken one on Ebay. I bought the 1968 one on Ebay but the adjustable didn't work unless you manually pushed the tray up with your hand while turning the number knob and you had to hold the tray while you shave and the spring was broke. Got a good shave out of it but the seller admitted it was broken and needed fixing and restoration (after claiming it was mint in the sale). I got a refund on that based on the fact he admitted it was broken and he misrepresented in the auction. I decided not to buy any old used razors (just the cost of restoring/fixing it at Razor Emporium was like the price of three Variants/Futurs). Merkur Progress is good too and there are some cheap "throw away if it breaks $12.00" adjustable razors out there too that are good (like the Qshave's clone of the Futur). Parker Variant had a good shave from my experience and I know others that only used it, but I would say with any new razor from factory keep an eye on the quality control for the first few shaves to make sure they're okay.
I had heard that the first batch of Parker Variants had plating issues but that they got it fixed. The Merkur Progress is very similar to the Variant in my opinion, the Variant is quite a bit cheaper though. Thanks for your comment!
Australia is beautiful and pristine!! But... Very expensive property prices, Sydney is now the world's 2nd most expensive (although if you're bringing US$ over then the exchange rate will help you). Taxes are very high too! Education is good, health care is excellent (although government hospital surgery waiting lists are very, very long!). Overall it's very livable and every weekend you can easily drive to a beautiful place to get out of the house.

Everyone says that about Australia. I'm more wary of crazy people than animals, which tend to be in the wild. Germany is a fantastic country, very outdoors and family orientated, beautiful, low crime and generally nice English speaking people, despite negative stereotyping. England's like a little piece broken off the States, seems big and overpopulated, Yorkshire is a great county with a real English feel outside the cities.
+David Coyote I bought the witch hazel from a CVS or rite aide and my wife has tea tree oil so I added 5-6 drops of the oil to it. I made sure to buy the pure witch hazel.
Madrid. Spain. South of France...South of Europe. Friendly hospitality....cannot get by if you do not speak Spanish... since you love the sea..... it is a halb insel. Very good food and cooking. Would be Great to you here

Better than the futur it's way more comfortable and shaves just as aggressive without the fear of cutting yourself it feels like u can't cut yourself even though you can. It's that comfortable
