Billy is possibly the best human being. There is a select few people like him and Robin Williams, for me, who just...you feel their loss like no others. They're such a light in the world.
The only comedian that has made me cry with laughter, even watching the same sketch, or performance over and over again, the tears still flood. What a gift to us all. What would the world have been without you.
I remember sitting with my father watching Billy’s standup on tv one night, both of us trying not to laugh as it was so rude and I was still a child, tears streaming down our faces before we erupted with laughter 😂
What a fantastic comedian Billy was. I just wish he was still performing. I watch anything that he is or was in. At least we still have recordings of him.
Tears were streaming down my face last night, I was having difficulty breathing, and my dog was most concerned that something was wrong with me. I was watching “don’t drink the water in Ibiza” for the first time.
I have and always will be a huge fan of Billy. What comes across to me in watching this, Pamela is a lovely caring person and a big help to Billy coming to terms with his demons.
So much Love between Billy and Pamela Connolly. I remember hearing A saying that goes "If You want to know how good A Husband A Man Is, look at how happy His Wife Is sitting right beside Him" I believe that says A lot about Billy and their Marriage. Both Husband and Wife are obviously so happy and comfortable in Eachothers company. Such A Beautiful thing to behold... EDIT ~ Broke My Heart to learn that The Legend who made Our Grandparents, Parents and Ourselves laugh hysterically was Abused on so many levels. 😪 Yet was never A Victim. Always A Survivor. The Legendary Billy Connolly 🙏❤❤
Its inspiring... i can see and almost feel the Love between those two souls! The way they look at each other... they are constantly in love with each other. Its vert heart warming.
PAMELA Rocks! Thank you for being the support and nurturing life force behind Billy. What an amazing survivor you are Dear Billy. Respect and Love to you both ❤️
What a truly stunning piece of work, Pamela. It is now absolutely clear just what you gave up your own career for. The humanity of all of that is simply beyond words. And thank you Parky for helping to bring such a very important story and relationship into the true light of the world.
I love this interview, great chemistry between all 3 of them. So much respect for them to discuss such a cold topic and yet still have a laugh together
I am so very proud of you Billy with all your accomplishments in life after abuse . You are a survivor and here with your wonderful partner Pamela helping others along their way to come out and speak up. For the good of all. Thank You.
I've never actually sat and watched this properly but I remember it being on TV. Hearing it now as a 36 year old it made my eyes fill, especially when he said he questioned whether it really happened to him as his dad was still giving him moral lectures etc. How confusing for a young person growing up but how admirable that he came through the other side and was finally able to be open about it all to Pamela and then everyone else. I'm sure admitting it to himself was the hardest part, especially after all that confusion.
I was keeping it together until that exact point in the conversation too..because it's absolutely true..those of us who have suffered historic child sexual abuse do gets these thoughts of incredulity..' did I really dream this...if I screw my eyes up can I.I dream it'?? That's the kind of dialogue I've carried in my own head for 50 yrs from when I was first abused aged 4. I know certainly growing up in a working class town like Liverpool kids just had no.voice at all in the 70's and there was nobody to reach out to like Childline ..I think for Billy coming from a very similar hard town it must have been even harder ..Yeah I respect both him and Pamela enormously for talking about such a painful subject and something that around 1in 5 people in my own country will be learning to live with..it's great that in doing this Billy sort of helped open the door for other men to talk about their childhood abuse too ..amazing chap .
A Fantastic Gentleman The Late Great Parky, who alway's Brought The Best out of Billy This one especially Wonderful because of Pamela being here with him alway's so truthful ❤❤❤
An unbelievably powerful interview, it's as powerful, emotional, moving and hilarious as it was when I first watched it, love Billy, he's gone through so much, but come out so strong, the love and respect Pamela and Billy have for each other shines through
I was an American soldier in Vietnam in 1970, and on a 7 day leave to Sydney, was ultra fortunate to meet Pamela Stephenson at a party in Bondi. To say that she was a beautiful woman then...no epithets could possibly describe. To see her in this clip...I am not surprised at all she remains so beautiful. They are lucky to have each other
Billy’s momentary deep in thought quite sad, glad he came through on top, this man is pure comic genius, in the 80’s he literally made 2 women I knew wet themselves laughing, one was my mates mom who had to leave the room and go and get changed, when she returned she was still in stitches laughing and her eyes were red raw....still laughed about it 20 + years later....
What a wonderful bittersweet interview Michael, Billy and Pamela; the candor, the humor and the humility. Billy and Pamela you have set a fantastically high benchmark. Michael your friendship is palpable. Thanks I both enjoyed the interview but also cried inside. Michael your skill and talent is sorely missed. Sincere thanks to you, to Billy and to Pamela, compelling viewing for all.
I've looked for this interview EVERYWHERE, since watching it on TV when it was originally aired. I had begun to lose hope I'd ever see it again. Thank you, kind uploader!
Pamela still a stunning lady. So nice to see this couple together after all these years. Just breaks my heart to see Billy and his fight against Cancer & Alzheimers. Keep up the fight Big Yin. We love you. Scotland loves you. The world loves you.
I watched this episode whem it first aired and has to be one of my favorite ever Parkie shows ever. Whenever Billy was on the show he completely took over, with Michael let him do with pleasure. Thank you for the upload.
Great interview. I read Dr Pamelas book a good few years ago now, it's brilliant. . I'd recommend it 100% ... I was lucky I got to confront my "father" back in 2002 {he's still alive} I'm still to this day called a liar. But hey ho! Lol the people who care are and were amazing . I never wanted to hurt my nearest and dearest and still to this day I hate the fact they had to know. Anywho love Billy he's a gem! And yeah ya do have a sense of humour. I guess it's a coping type thingy ☺ thank you for uploading this 👏💞
You can see and feel the love between Billy and Pamela. I remember her so well from Not the Nine O'clock News (I love trucking 😂😂😂) she was such a good impressionist and everyone fancied her. She and Billy are made for each other. A tough life but a triumphant one too.
Billy, A totally amazing person, A true hero of mine, but he can make me laugh, like no one else, really laugh till I'm in tears and my sides hurt. A real special guy.
Thank You to Pamela Stephenson for being the strongest woman I know apart from my wife! She shaped Billy from a celebrity who would have died young into a Celebrity who Lived on and fulfilled his True potential!
@@irbennett I don't pretend to be Billy. I do a Tribute to a legend. I have met Billy twice and he had no objection to what I do. He even gave some advice on how he works on stage. ✌️🪕
most intuitive knowledge on Billy's part. Thank you for talking about the sexual abuse. I have heard no one speak to the dynamic between adult parent and the child who suffers their abuse. God bless you Billy and Pamela.
Absolutely, the world 100% needs to hear this deeply private pain. I feel sure the support of his wonderful wife Pamela gave him the courage to open up. I have no doubt his story of a father's terrible betrayal will have helped many abuse survivors. Good on him!
@@glamdolly30 Where do I begin. Billy never considered the sexual abuse a father's terrible betrayal. In fact he forgave his father and loved him until the day he died. Billy told Pamela about the abuse on the day his father died. His family and relatives knew about the abuse long before., some didn't believe him, others did believe him and did nothing. His sister Florence did know, but she was about the same age at the time the abuse took place(Billy was 10), so could do nothing. I can't be certain, but I think she was a major instigator in Billy going public.
I got that satisfaction one punch hit the floor never lifted his hand again!!! And Billy we will always remember, you got us all through some tough times in life thank you!!! 😂😂👍
Pamela Stephenson Thankyou For Your Being A Strong Woman Behind Such An Astounding Comedian Billy Connolly. This Interview With Parkinson Is Timeless In 2023. ( sent from Liverpool UK
Yes you’re absolutely right. All those you mentioned, plus the neighbours if you were cheeky. I honestly don’t think it affected the mental health of any of us.
Billy has to be in the top 10 finest humans alive today. His hugely imperfect childhood is balanced by one of the most rewarding lives ever lived. Life sort of realises and balances everything out. Sadly, now he returns to difficulty and challenge with his illness. He is very hard to replace - certainly not in my lifetime.
He's one of those people you just love, and you don't know why because there are so many reasons, you just do and that is enough. He is beautiful inside and out.
Can't say anything that's not been said about this great comic genius, but I loved the edible bomb skit & wind chimes in their knickers. Sad that Altzheimers can take away the quickness of mind he has & cancer that is terminal having beaten cancer 3 times myself. Love the man, the laughter & memories he gives us all.
still trying to understand your first album, but even though I don't understand it I still laugh my head off, thanks bill your an inspiration, fight on big yin
Poor Bill Connolly, hes such a kind, sweet and lovely genuine person and his just so funny!! I used to watch his world american tour when he went off to travel america on his motor bike!! That was very cool! :)
I have this running obsessive question I ask, who would I come back as if there was another life after this (except myself, but with better choices) and I think, Elvis, Tom Hardy, Elon Musk... theres no doubt Billy is the one. What an outstanding life he had led. Hes done everything and apologises for nothing and is the funniest person ive ever seen. Hes brought so much happiness to so many people. Living legend!!
