Parkitect Campaign (Part 21) - Sakura Gardens

Sakura Gardens is a Japanese garden ready to be turned into a blossoming theme park - but the guests won't stand for high-intensity rides (really though, the only reason this scenario exists is because I just had to showcase Gabby's at-the-time newly added Sakura tree).
Turns out that this would be the most difficult scenario of all of them for me, and I had to cheat and cheese my way to the finish in the end. At the same time, it turned out to be one of my favourites as far as scenery is concerned, with a lot of Japanese-ish foliage and architecture.

I know I'm a year late, but the fact that there's a gigantic rock embedded in the middle of the queue line for the swinging chairs at 15:00 will keep me up at night for the foreseeable future.

You actually did such a good job recreating the GCI wooden feel that I was able to realize a wooden near me was made by them. I don't know anything about coaster manufacturers but was able to recognize all the elements you included and were talking about.

25:20 Quick note: All the current Japanese castles are replicas, save for the one in Himeji (even though it has been completely taken apart during its restoration). Japanese castles were made for war and constructed out of wood, so you can imagine how many times they caught fire and burned down. Many were rebuilt more than five times during their lifetime. I've been inside the Osaka Castle you mentioned, and it indeed does have an elevator (it's basically a museum). Even funnier is the shopping mall located on the castle-island.
@ButzPunk
@ButzPunk 4 года назад
The Japanese have a different conception of what makes a building than that which is common in many western nations. In Japanese reasoning, if you rebuild a castle out of new materials, but with respect to the original purpose/design, it's still the same building. I see it as a very practical solution to the Ship of Theseus paradox: an object's identity is not tied to its physical form, but the idea of that object.

I see we're using old tricks to reach our goals here. Things are getting hard, hm? Still, the designs are beautiful. The castle looks so fantastic, its almost a shame you can't bring guests to it just as if it was a tourist attraction. Loved the Wooden layout too, station fly-by's are so cool.

Silv I love your parkitect videos so much. I was thinking you should make a huge super park miniseries where you make a park similar to the tutorial mission in terms of scale with different themed areas, wild West, space etc. That would be brilliant Keep up the great work and happy anniversary for your channel

You know, having an antique Schwartzkopf shuttle loop running down the open space in the middle of an out & back woodie isn't the worst idea for combining rides. Kinda reminds me of how Wodan and Blue Fire interlock. Edit: I just realized that if you could somehow make the two of them race both ways by synchronising the time spent on the wooden coaster's turnabout and the shuttle loop's spike, it would actually be a really awesome combination.

The end of the video was just perfect. It took me a second, but having played enough RCT2 in my childhood (and being a horrible human being), I saw it before it was revealed. Silv, you did what you had to do. Jokes aside, another stellar park! I really look forward to the next one!

Just like you, I had a heck of a hard time making a profit at the start, even though I didn't spend money making the beautiful Japanese scenery you made. That stuff is awesome, even though it was expensive to make. I really liked this scenario. I failed my first time around (couldn't keep a decent profit at all) but the second time around I remembered to make a large-ish medium-intensity Junior Coaster right at the start, plus a mini coaster I managed to squeeze 50 excitement out of, and it all worked out. Was easier than I thought, really. Whenever I play these, I always go for the Marcel Vos approach to paths: I spam benches, bins and lamps everywhere, and it keeps guests from getting tired and littering.

That woodie reminds me of Wodan at Europa Park. Also this map would have been good for a shuttle monorail/chairlift to help remedy the spread out, fatigue inducing layout you mentioned at the end. Also I think those two are easy to theme to an Asian theme.

Sakura Gardens was just a pain of a level for me. Looking back at my saved file, I was not able to put up a single deco piece except for the shops building since I kept running out of money. Managed to scrape through the level somehow by plotting flat rides and building wild mouse and wooden coaster.

Since you don't have Vekoma Madhouses in Parkitect, it would be a good choice for the park: it's indoors, its doesn't have to be intense (see Legoland Windsor's), and don't need a huge show building

also, if parkitect uses any sort of intelligent tech whatsoever (which i'd imagine since its made in unity), i cant imagine the cube spam being too hard of a hit on performance. all the cubes should be rendered at once with instanced rendering, so as long as you don't go too crazy it really wont effect performance that much

You cheat! Haha. I think this was the hardest scenario I played. It doesn't help that it says guests want low intensity rides. I spent so much money making a really nice low intensity park and like you couldn't make a profit. I just managed to avoid bankruptcy so many times and some how managed to pull it off (without cheating). Would love to share some screenshots with you, to see what you think.
