“She is forever 14” is what got me. I tried not to tear up this entire trial and had some tears esp for this speech. Forever 14.

She's an amazing public speaker. Looking beyond the grief, she's carries herself so poised and so thoughtfully. I admire her greatly. I'm so sorry for her and her husband's loss, as well as the loss of life and injures to the others. I wish them the best in life.

The pain these parents, and family members have to carry for life is almost unbearable. My deepest condolences.

My heart breaks for them. Having to not only fight the killer in court, but to have to endure countless weeks of horrific photographs, video footage, detailed injury descriptions, etc. my heart hurts knowing these kids will be kids forever. No one should be afraid to go to school.

When she said Jamie will always be 14yrs old, i couldn’t hold back a tear no longer. Writing this still makes me tear up.

As a parent who lost my 5 year old daughter 36 1/2 years ago, I can assure you these parents' lives are changed forever. Never again will you see that beautiful face and spirit that was so uniquely theirs. While the initial heart piercing, breath stopping pain will subside somewhat over time, the memory will return again and again. Every holiday, Valentines Day, Easter, Mother's or Father's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day weekend, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas will be a reminder of a soul absent from the family, the wondering of what would have been that year, the grandchildren never born and loved. The loss doesn't end until your own death and release from your earthly pain. I wish the juror(s) who decided against the death penalty would have understood this. While it would not have lessened or changed the parents pain, it certainly would have been more just than this monster showing no more emotion than he would if he had been listening to a random lecture on a subject he didn't care about! I pray for these parents in their unimaginable loss.

Forever 14....makes me think of a poem my grandmother wrote about a son killed in WWI. The line that grabs - "My son, my son. Forever 21." It always makes my elbows shiver and grabs my heart.

Losing a child is something you can never imagine, before or after it happens. To lose someone you love is to alter your life forever. Sorrow for the victims also the victims who lost so much.

I am so glad that this brave woman rebuked the defense team and that she specifically pointed out the remark that no one had "endured" what the defense team had. She is so incredibly well spoken.

I feel so much pain in my heart as I watch these victims speak. One thing I’ve noticed is the tapping on the podium as they speak. It’s almost like they’re trying to cope with that moment so hard. I don’t know why that stands out to me but the pain is just incredibly sincere and obvious. I pray every single day that they find some peace during this trial. And I pray they continue to find strength to move forward in their lives, which will never be the same.

There were so many reports that this was going to happen. He had made his plans quite open. The FBI was well aware of comments he made on RU-vid as well as to a neighbor. His mother even told police many times. It is a sad shame that so many people have to suffer. 💔

It has been unconscionable what “these people”, these victims and families, have had to endure throughout this trial, the disrespect they’ve had to face at the hands of the defence team, and the actions of the defence should not be ignored or unpunished. The fact that this killer, who intentionally hurt and murdered multiple people, appeared to be more thoughtfully and carefully considered than the victims families is disgraceful and it certainly highlights that there is something very wrong with the system. Not only did this trial result in unsatisfactory punishment, but it was a sickening kick in the teeth for these families seeking justice. The defence will likely be celebrating their “win” at avoiding the death penalty but they should be ashamed of themselves and their behaviour throughout this trial.

So the mentally injured people from the massacre are ok to be mentally injured, but the murderer and all the mental injuries he received since he was in his mother's womb, isn't? They knew he was prone to violence, he gave so many signs, yet they let him out into the world, who is really at fault? That's like condemning a bed ridden person for ruining your carpet due to incontinence, or condemning a blind person for knocking over your expensive China, or condemning a poor hungry person for stealing food out of your trash can, or condemning a child for hitting your expensive car with their ball. He doesn't show empathy, like everyone demands/expects him to, because he doesn't have that mental capacity.

For the families to have been through what they have, then re-traumatised by the evidence and testimonies, having been ordered not to react.... to show restraint when the person that destroyed their lives is sat right there..... I just... I don't even know what to say. The strength they have shown is inspiring. I couldn't cope listening to a lot of the evidence in this trial and I'm completely disconnected from it. I can't imagine what they're going through & I hope I never have to.
