Parkville considers silencing train horns, some residents concerned 

Someone got killed by a train today... in Parkville.

I come to Parkville quite often to watch the trains come through and hear the horn and the noise of the train. I have been doing that since the middle 50's when my parents would come to Parkville and I would hear the train whistle I would run to the track just to watch the train go through. I'm now 73 years old and still do the same thing. They stop the train whistle there is no need to come there anymore. I might add that when I come to Parkville I most generally spend some money there. Keep it the way that it is

Adding a "quiet zone" would silence the horns, but the trains themselves would still rumble and would still block traffic. So the problem wouldn't really be solved. I think it would be easier to just cover your ears for a few seconds than spend $900,000 for something that would not solve the problem.

Yes Mayor . Silence the train horn because it's annoying to you . I personally want you to know that the 1st person killed due to your decision I'll be backing the family of the deceased to sue you for everything your city has .

I hope they don't turn it into a quiet zone. I go railfanning there because of the cool dopler effect there.

A quiet zone removes all liability from the railroad putting it solely on the city of Parkville

The train horn disrupts folks for 5 minutes an hour. It flummoxes their daily routine that horribly and causes that much stress to the average person. Yeah, ok. Don’t be a pansy ass. I do agree with the noise could hurt someone’s hearing though. I’ll give them that one.

We like the train horns and most the come here to shop and such like it.

About 3 weeks ago, someone was hit by a train here. I doubt they are adding the quiet zone now.
