Todd Billings I was lucky to not only meet Winston before the show in 2016 but they played this live and I literally closed my eyes and just stood there and took it all in.
The best metalcore song ever made, This is what Parkway Drive truly is. I miss this sound and that ending sweep made me tear up the first time I heard this. And this is the first song I ever heard by them. The ending gets me every time 🤘🤘😭
I couldn’t agree more. From 3:30 forward I can’t get enough. This is easily my favourite metalcore song and the end gets me every time. I listen to it multiple times every day, as well as Romance Is Dead. These guys are f@cking incredible
Mate if this song doesn’t get played at the end of my funeral then I’ll be one unhappy soul. Absolute masterpiece of a song, still my everyday go to to this day!
I love every single parkway drive song to date, but holy fuck does this one take the cake. not only is it a real deep impactfull message, but just the whole song instrumentally is flawless. parkway drive is fucking dope.
The thing that just elevates this song for me personally is the existential nature of the lyrics. Sure, they are fucking SHREDDING but man, the lyrics really just take it to a whole different level.
When I saw these guys live I was up in the front and when they played this song 3:25 gave me HUGE chills running down my spine! And those last horizons vocals were monumental it blew me away his vocals are monstrous!
me too, the first time i listened to the album i couldn't sit through this one for some reason, today i listened to it and i started weeping towards the end, it just broke my insides haha it's so beautiful
People often say metal music is aggressive and negative, but just with the guitar in the opening you already feel the emotion... people judge what they dont understand.
I think sometimes people forget just how good a bassist Pie is. It's easy enough to say that bands don't care about their bass players or don't need them, but how about you try and keep time with a band this heavy/technical? And apart from that, his instrument is heavier and harder to play than a guitar if you want to be fast. I know most bass players don't get attention, so I just wanted to say that Jia O'Connor is an awesome musician. Peace \m/
The time signature of metalcore in general, including this song, is very linear.. there's pretty much no technicality at all to play bass to killing with a smile and horizons, watch the og documentary, he will say he didn't have a clue what he was doing but the guys liked his stage presence and that he's one of the local Byron boys they grew up with
+blacksun14 its true bro, i think Parkway Drive is got underrated by people. if parkway drive not underrated, bmth will got more less fans i bet. same labels, (now) same genre, but the bmth kinda weak on live and pwd is far away on the front being one of thebest live perfomance of all time
haha wtf parkway is the most famous metalcore band in the world, the have even played in a tonne of random countries that other bands wouldnt play like India and shit... watch their dvd
Just had the opportunity to see them live this past Tuesday, met Winston while I was waiting in line. Got a selfie with him and then the show itself was the most intense concert I've ever been a part of. This song was played last before the encore with Bottom Feeder. There's something about the song Horizons that's just perfect in every sense. The build the breakdowns and the solo that plays on through the 2nd half. This is my favorite song by them.
Jesse Landsiedel you were at the Grand Rapids show on the 11th? If you want to friend me on FB it's Mark Daniel Bierens- same profile pic of me and Winston. Stay Metal \m/
mark bierens I was there with you man, Grand Rapids Michigan. Seeing Horizons live was one of the very best moments of my life, (I was the guy in the pit on a crutch) and every since that moment passed, I've felt a strange emptiness inside. maybe it's a longing for the feeling I had in that moment, wishing I knew how to reproduce it. fuck I love Parkway Drive
Whatever mistakes winston mcall has ever made in his life, he is forgiven completely for creating and sharing this amazing song right here with the world... 🌎 💯 💘
I've seen Parkway preform a handful of times and never once witnessed this song preformed live until just recently, shit literally brought tears to my eyes, such an amazing song full of so much emotion, Winston killed it ✊👌
Hey guys! First of all I had NO idea this video would get 280,000 views. HOLY SHIT! Anyways, just wanted to say I only uploaded this video to share the awesomeness of Parkway Drive. They're my favorite band and they allways be. Hope someone found out about Parkway Drive through this video! Cheers!
The fucking sweeping at 4:18 , it's so FUCKING BEAUTIFUL This song is what life means. This helped me so many times. This song gives me the will to fight life !
i have lyrics from this song across my chest. best band i have ever heard, not only with instruments but their lyrics have real meaning. not all artists can do that.
man, i love their new stuff, it's heavy and all that, but it just doesn't wake the same feelings inside as this does, that's why horizons will always be dear to my heart
4:42 . I ussually cant help but hold my breath at this point, with a lump in my throat, chills on my spine and tears pushing up. Beauty at its peak in this world.
i dont like how this song is very underated :/. Its one of my favorites of the Horizons album which is hard to say since that whole album was pretty much flawless but this song has the best things ever put together. Metal shreds, acoustic, tapping, breakdown, sweeping, and amazing lyrics!...love it
i think thats the point. listen to it as you would classical music, like mozart, bach or chopin, the vocalist-less shit. view Winston's voice (the "shitty vocalist), or "noises" as an instrument, say a trumpet. and if you take a sec, the trumpet is, amazingly, speaking a lot of sense. because, unlike the dope party music, where your not even really listening, Winston's lyrics are quite insightful and realistic. btw, took 30 seconds out of my life to read them, im drunk and fucking loving it!
i love bands like this that have a groove throughout the song. parkway, as blood runs black, " old " the devil wears prada. it is its own ganera of heavy metal i think. i will always love and appricate those bands. keep it going guys! love your music
