I watched the Mothership land in Madison Square Garden. One of them flew in over the audience with a guitar wearing a diaper Lolol. But when they hit Flashlight, hundreds of flashlights lit up in the audience! Everybody had some sort of flashlight! Those were the days💖. I tried to make every concert I could get to. A true Funkateer🚀
I was front row when it made a return trip to DFW in '78 - my first concert. The dude to my right had a Space1999 toy gun high as a kite. Two seats to my left was a 9 yr. old boy who at one point George brought him on stage to sing (I think) Get Off Your Ass And Jam... I was so jealous. Thanks, sis!
The funk energy was definitely in the house that night. Glen Goines was the soul of Parliament/ Funkadelic's! His voice was a mixture of funk and spiritual which created that funky style! RIP Glen!!
The concert was wild! We went crazy when the mothership came from nowhere and landed. The band had more smoke in the air than the early Snoop Dog concerts.

I was too young for the first generation Mothership, but their 95/96 Mothership ReConnection Tour was nearly as epic. That is the Smithsonian Mothership.
Growing up in New Orleans ya always hear old cats tell stories about they was at the Municipal Auditorium when/where the Mother ship land first landed. I couldn't imagine seeing this shit live WOW!
Wow!! the Beautiful...soothing, feel it in your soul!! vocals of the late great Glenn Goins is just Heavenly on the Mothership connection song, as well as the landing of the mothership on stage... totally copesthetic!!
I can say I saw the mother ship land, and the whole experience was awesome. This is when cats played music and had a hell of a stage show. To the entire P-Funk clan Thank you
My dad took 2 oakland coliseum n 1977 best concert til this day 4 me I loved G C growing up as a kid from album covers 2 parliament live poster n the album.
Best concert ever very creative, daribg, genius, innovative. George wore long blonde eig, half naked, smoked weed coning from other planet. We love George!!!!!
Dang George with all of the technology nowadays get some sponsors and good promotion u can tour with a mothership landing theme I ll betcha u will sell out venues everywhere please!!!!
@@dee1380 No. They're DEFINITELY not ready! I'm Darryl Dixon. I took Maceo's place on sax when he and Fred Wesley went with Bootsy. Glenn and I left P-Funk at the same time, so I was on stage every night of the Earth Tour. I also feel sorry for the people in the audience of the Parliament-Funkadelic concerts now. They have absolutely no idea of how it was back in 1977 when I was in the band. If they like it now, they would have lost their minds back then. TRUST ME!!
Remember when they use to land the Mothership back in the day. Seen George back in May, still funking. A lot of the band is gone. They are riding on the Mothership
I have experienced the "P" 10 times. Seeing George August 18th 2023. "Funk or Walk" I did not come here to go slow, I only came to dance the dance to take me home.
Why can't we bring back this sense of fantasy and escapism to music. This just looked like plain old fun. Larger than life. However, It seems like today, everything in music has to be political and issues oriented. Today's performers also need to stop trying so hard to be so earthy and relatable. We get it. You're just like one of us (or so you want to think).
