Actually, you're supposed to add a little bit of hot pasta water to the cheese bowl itself to make the cheese sauce. It doesn't seem like there was very much cheese coming off of the bowl itself
Deli clerk here. Cheese wheels are one of the few deli items that take 2-3 weeks to be shipped in after the initial order is placed so if you cut half a cheese wheel and don’t have enough for 2-3 weeks, you’re gonna be in trouble.
Not to mention hard cheese takes a long time to make. Parmesan cheese can only be called that if it's from that region of Italy. It will take time to procure your full wheel.
@@dustymofo917 some specific recipes have you cook prosciutto crudo, like saltimbocca, but it's usually sad to cook prosciutto crudo... It has such a delicate taste that you want to eat it as is or after making the fat render a bit by placing it over some warm bread/piadina (tortilla)

The heat from the pasta + hot water is supposed to melt/mix cheese directly from the wheel into the food and make a sauce. Homeboy cooked the whole ass meal and just used the cheese as a plate.

I used to work at a fancy cheese place and I can tell you if someone asked for a half wheel of Parmigiano Regiano we would've absolutely sold it. Makes no sense. I'd crack a new one just for him to take half. Cutting a new wheel is oddly very satisfying and fun. Between scoring the rind like you're skinning a dragon hide n that perfect cut down the middle it's just nice. Shit I'd rather sell a half over a quarter. Cutting a half wheel in half again never comes out clean looking because it'll just wobble n make an uneven cut. Which you can see obviously happened to his quarter cut.

Next time to melt that cheese more. Start with any type of alcohol that you can light on fire then slowly scrape the cheese as it melts in the fire and when done you can add pasta and sauce!

Some friends of mine found a half a wheel of reggiano mislabeled at a supermarket for $8 a few years back. They got it through self checkout and enjoyed it for a couple years
@@Willoajsjs you can still scrape the bowl used part and the underparts would still be usable. Also the cheese is hydrophobic so you could probably wash it like a bowl 🤣
Pour some brandy is a spoon and light it up then mix it around the bowl, gets the bowl of cheese a little melty before adding the pasta, thats how we did it table side at a place i worked for

A restaurant here in Orlando makes these cheese wheel bowls. They heat up and liquor I think it's Brandy and pour it pour it over the noodles. It's awesome to watch.
I honestly don't think the cheese wheel bowl actually adds much in the way of flavor. You're just tricked into thinking it tastes better because you've gotten yourself excited.
That's not Parmigiano. The Parmigiano has a burned trademark all around the side of the roll. If white with no marks is not the original one or removed from production before the first quality check.
Wait once your done what do you do with the rest of the cheese cause like it's got a huge hole in it and some other stuff so do you still put it into your cooking
